Found Out About The Turkeys

We get a newsletter 3 or 4 times a year from the city. I got one today. I looked it over and was going to chuck it when I noticed a note from the city council on the back. It seems that these turkeys we see are termed 'urban turkeys'. We had heard they were owned by some guy down a ways from us. But the council says nothing about an owner. They are thought of as a pest because they attack postal carriers, kids walking to school, and neighborhood pets. I do hope it doesn't come down to them poisoning them or some other awful may to get rid of them. It has become an issue though since they've gone from about 5 or since to about 20 over the last three years.

Wow. One Kansas community has had an urban turkey, but I think he has passed. Possibly hit by a car. One thing to remember is that they are domesticated turkey breeds. No self respecting wild turkey would hang out in town.

Maybe they can trap and release them into a wilderness area. I don't know if turkeys can find there way back it that happens.

Those turkeys can be a real nuisance. When i lived in my previous house a neighborhood near me was dealing with turkeys. They caused traffic problems, interfered with lids going to school, property damage etc. I hope they find a solution to your turkey problem and of course not killing them.

Nuisance turkeys. I've heard of Canada geese being harassed but never turkeys.

I'm a bit surprised that they attack people. They must have been teased or harrassed in some way to start doing this.
