Banyan Tree and Two Nosebleeds

There are more than palm trees in Florida. On my morning walk I pass this banyan tree every day. It’s too massive for the yard, but it’s quite impressive on its own. Hubs and I went out shopping today, because I need/want new clothes this spring and summer. I was in a fitting room bending down when I had a horrible nosebleed. Luckily, I had tissues in my purse. While bending my head to look at shoes on my feet, my nose bled again, from the same left nostril. I didn’t have enough tissues, so the salesman literally ran to find me an entire box.. I’m just happy I didn’t like the shoes, because I dripped blood on them. The salesman told me not to worry. How nice is that? I’m going to mention my nosebleeds to my doctor, because I have had them about 5 times while in Florida.

I'm sorry you are having nosebleeds, I know they aren't fun, and often very unexpected. Take good care of yourself, Dianne.

Thank you, Marie. I already have an appointment with my doctor up north. A couple of people here have mentioned getting cauterized. I may need to get that done, too.

@MarieCoyle Thanks for telling me that. I assume both your boys had frequent nosebleeds, too?

@DianneN I have never had to have that done but my sons both have had to. They said it did help and it didn't hurt.

That isn't nice. Hopefully there is an innocent explanation. Do you have a doc appointment scheduled?

Yes, I have an appointment and from what some people have said, I may have to get cauterized if that’s what I need.

I use to have nosebleeds. I did go to the doctor and he cauterized my right nostril. It helped a little. It has stopped now. As i have looked back on it, I had it bad before menopsuse. It was connected to my menstral cycles. After menopsuse, it has stopped.

I’m glad yours stopped. I have had them since I was a child, but not as frequently, and it’s very concerning now. Made an appointment with my doctor.

The heat could cause your nostrils to get dried out. You might try putting some oil in them. I hope that's all it is.

It really hasn’t been that hot, but it may be. I will try your suggestion and see if that helps until I can see my doctor. Thanks so much!

@celticeagle So far, so good. I’m using oil that you suggested. I only have a little residual bleeding every day, but nothing as extreme. I will need an appointment at an ENT it seems.

He was a very nice and helpful salesman. He gave me his card, so I can try on other shoes when we return next week. I have been getting nosebleeds since I was a child, but never had them plop all over the floor or shoes that weren’t mine. Hopefully, my doctor will help me somehow.

I've had nosebleeds when getting to the arid areas in the west. The first time, in South Dakota, it scared me. When it happened in Arizona last year I didn't pay any attention to it. However, it wasn't a "gushing" nosebleed like you had. I hope you're okay!

I’m sure it scared you when it happened out of the blue like that. I can understand why it would happen in arid places, but Florida isn’t one of them. Thank you! I already made an appointment with my doctor.

Nosebleeds are usually caused by dry air or allergies. The hot weather in Florida may be causing them or you are allergic to something.

I have an appointment to see my doctor. A couple of people here had to get cauterized, which I may have to do. They are beautiful trees with enormous twisting trunks, but I have only seen them here, in my yard here, and some really huge ones in California or Hawaii. One here got diseases and had to be removed after a couple of years trying to save it.

That really was nice of the salesperson. I hope your nosebleeds are no big deal. At one point in my sister’s life she’d have them frequently, and no one could find out why. Eventually, they just quit.

I'm sorry about then nosebleeds. Sometimes they are caused by the dry air in the house. My right nostril has the capillaries very close to the surface; and they bleed easily. I hope your doctor can figure out what's going on. I had my right nostril cauterized.
