It’s Not Good

Do you remember a few years ago when my dad had surgery in his neck and almost lost his voice because of it? Well, Friday he was aerating his lawn, and when he started, someone had left it in high, and it threw him forward, where he fell. Diana heard moaning, and saw him on the ground, and thought he was having a heart attack. No, he landed on his neck and shoulder. He didn’t sleep Friday night at all, and wouldn’t go to the ER. He kept saying he’d call his doctor Monday (today). I told him if he went to the ER they’d do an X-ray or something to let him know if he needs to see the doctor. However, I think the cost of an ER visit, even with insurance, made him wait. Saturday night he slept better after a day of Ibuprofen, but Sunday he was still having a lot of trouble. He came home right after church, and he never does that. I hope nothing in his surgically repaired neck was damaged. When was the last time you fell?

O our poor dad. It seems like he needs X-rays at a minimum and maybe he needs a cervical collar or something

I am so sorry for your Dad, I hope it's not a serious problem, but he must go to see a doctor. I fell a couple of years ago, on my butt, the kitty of my neighbors crossed my path when I was walking and I fell to avoid to hurt him.

I don’t know how many times one of my fur babies has tripped me up, but I always worry about them getting hurt more than me. The surgeon got him in this morning, and the X-ray was clear. He ordered a CT scan just to be safe, and that will hopefully be soon.

@AmbiePam I was also more concerned not to hurt the kitty than myself. I am glad that the X-ray did not show a fracture.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I do hope that it's nothing too serious. It's been a while since I've had a good fall thankfully. A couple of years ago, I was walking my dad. I wasn't paying attention and tripped and fell. Hurt my knuckles. Looked like I was in a fight as opposed to falling.

That had to have been very painful. But it made you look tough, probably!

@AmbiePam It did hurt a bit the first day or two, and I think it probably did make me look a bit tough.

I can’t remember the last time I fell. I do know my body is giving me holy heck for a fall I took back in the 90s, though. I’m sorry he doesn’t know what’s going on with his neck, that’s nearly as bad as the pain! Praying he recovers quickly!

@AmbiePam — slipped on ice and came down on the corner of a concrete step on my left hip. No fracture but a shade of purple all over my backside.

I hope your dad sees his doctor today and everything is fine. Maybe he's just sore from the fall. I fell again yesterday. I just got dizzy and fell. I didn't get hurt but I couldn't get up by myself, either. When Pretty found me, she helped me up and into bed. She kept threatening to call an ambulance to take me to the ER but I wouldn't go. I feel fine today.

I don’t know what to do about you, Mister. That neurologist should have seen how necessary it is to get you seen.

@DaddyEvil I think the neurologist is just not paying attention. I understand having a lot of patients, but goodness, you’re a serious case.

It’s downright scary as we get older. I’m 45, but when I fell about a month ago I was really scared on my way to the floor.

Oh no that's really terrible. I hope he goes to the ER. The last time I fell was on my road bike. That was years ago. But no serious injuries except for some minor cuts.

He got in this morning to his doctor, and the X-ray was clear. The surgeon ordered a CTScan though so they could see parts of the neck the X-ray didn’t show. For right now though, it looks okay. Thank you!

A simple fall due to tripping on Roscoes toys is a normal kind of fall but your dad was thrown rather than simply falling, I'm praying he will be ok.

Thank you so much, Rebelann. Edit: The surgeon did an X-ray on my dad this morning, and saw him at 11am. The X-ray was clear, but he ordered a CTscan to be safe.

That broken arm was handled so badly, wasn’t it. I can’t imagine your frustration. He called the doctor this morning and was sent for an X-ray, and told to come to the surgeon’s office at 11am. The surgeon said it looks okay, but he’s ordering a CT Scan just in case to make sure they see everything, things X-rays can’t show. He seems to feel better each day, but that surgery was such a big deal they want to cover every base.

Oh,my! I hope he goes to the doctor today without delay? He needs to be checked out. I wish he hadn’t waited, but I do understand the reason for it. A few years ago I tripped on my best friend’s patio on her doormat. It slid and I went down. I fractured my wrist in two places, it wasn’t fun at all. That little town has a very small hospital and they had no bone surgeon, so I drove the two hours home and went to the hospital. It was a crazy time. I fell on the porch last summer right after a big rain storm. But I just had bumps and bruises. I try so hard to be careful!

I can’t imagine how bad breaking your wrist felt. My dad did that once, but had no insurance, so he never got an X-ray until months later. It’s never been right. His surgeon sent him for an X-ray this morning, and he has an appointment with the surgeon at 11am. They totally understood the seriousness. Update: The Xray was clear, but they ordered a CTscan to make sure he could see everything. Hopefully, that will be soon, but he’s getting better every day.

@AmbiePam I am glad to hear about the scan. It’s better to know for sure. And I’m very glad to hear he is feeling somewhat better. I hope he takes it easy, but as active as he is,that’s probably doubtful!

That's terrible. The last time I fell was when I was exercising and I got overheated. I didn't break anything.
