So, a few updates.

So yesterday, I asked for prayer for my stepmom’s son-in-law who is in his early 50s (and in great shape), had a heart attack, and needed a quadruple bypass. He was supposed to have it done yesterday morning, but by the afternoon the doctors had decided they wanted him to get a little stronger before attempting the surgery. I appreciate the prayers for him and his wife.
And, the second update…remember my friend who was taking $100,000 less for her land in order to move to a place where the city has no say about how many dogs she has on her acreage? She found a place in Guthrie, which is a decent (long) distance to have to drive to work 5 days a week. I don’t know too much about it because she was too down to talk about the details, so I think that gives me an idea on what condition it is in. I hope I’m wrong.

Good luck to them both.
And yes, if she was down, then she may have checked laws in the other town...
Were you aware that even if there are no laws stating how many dogs you can have, different animal rights groups can STILL come in and remove animals if they aren't kept in top condition? And then they will sue you.

Oh yes, I know that, and she should. All her dogs are well fed, vaccinated, and she even gets their teeth cleaned. She just has too many of them.
I think she must have had to settle for a subpar place because she had put a bid in for another place in Guthrie that she was excited about. That offer was not accepted.

@AmbiePam I hope she keeps that in mind after she gets moved. It only takes one person complaining at the right time to throw plans out the window.

@DaddyEvil Exactly! She tried to ascertain who called her in, and she narrowed it to the guy who was working on her propane tank who came inside and said it smelled like dogs, or her mother. I kept telling her it’s not her mom. It could be, but after decades of an iffy relationship I don’t know why she would choose now to really tick her off when nothing new has come up.

Guthrie is a nice town. I know a few people there through my brother's church. I hope she does well there and comes to love it. Praying for the youngish man who needs to increase his strength, I understand.

Can't she get a partner or organization to help out there? Somebody to help run the rescue and offer some financial backing? Has she applied for grants? This shouldn't all be on her shoulders. There are places that could help. Has she tried adopting these dogs out? I know she loves them, but like you said, she had too many.

I name something, she tells me she’s tried. And she does adopt as many as she can out, but some are pretty unadoptable. Some because of behavior issues, and some of chronic health conditions that require constant medication. Last year she drove 13 of her chihuahuas to Alabama to a rescue because they agreed to take them if she ran two of their dogs to Texas. So she did.
She’s just so disorganized. And I think she’s afraid of asking for help now since she thought she was square with the city. She got her dog totals down last year, and they gave her a pass for a year. This year, they simply showed up and threatened her.

@snowy22315 You’re just talking to me though. I’m only saying what I think is going on. I have no clue how many grants she’s written. I also have no idea how many rescues don’t approve of her though, because she’s said that before too. Her problems are too vast for me to be completely up on.

@AmbiePam Like I said, grants would be the way she could get help. If she is too busy to write one, she could hire someone..or piggyback with other rescue groups on something. I don't understand the sentence "She is afraid of asking for help now, because she thought she was square with the city." Obviously, she's not so why should she be afraid to ask for help? She really needs to get recommendations from other rescue organizations I think. It could only help, or worst case be neutral.

I hope your step-moms son in law gets strong enough for surgery, Will definitely add him to my prayers.
Hope things work out for your friend even though you sound as if it isn't a good solution to her problem.

My husband had a quadruple bypass a couple of years ago. It was very hard on him (and me). He had a stroke during the surgery and it wasn't caught until several months later and I had to create quite a ruckus to get the drs to schedule a CAT and MRI. It's been a couple of years, as I said, and he is still having issues but it seems like they're starting to subside.

Praying that your stepmom's SIL gains some strength so he can have the surgery.
I hope things turn out OK for your friend.
