They threw away $400 medication.

I really appreciate my dad getting a couple in our church to clean my apartment, but I had no idea they were dumb enough to throw clearly marked medication of vials that cost $400 (insurance wouldn’t cover it). Clear as day, my name, the pharmacy name, all of that in the side of the fridge door. I took all my regular medication with me, but I never thought to take my refrigerated medication with it. It makes me feel sick. My dad says in the long run, it’s no big deal, and that he’s not going to say anything about it to them. I won’t say anything unless they broach my apartment as a subject when I run into them at church. It’s disheartening.

I would never throw anyone's medicine out without checking with them. I am the type that would demand they replace it.

That is very disappointing that people would choose to throw out medications when they are only there to clean. Cleaning would include just that, and perhaps moving things, but keeping them from the garbage as the choice to put it there lies on the owner.

I respect my dad, and he told me not to say anything, but I don’t know if I’m going to fully listen. I didn’t go to church today, but if I go next week, I very well may go up to them.

@AmbiePam - We can let people know that they did something wrong without being offensive. At least they know.

I would be really upset about this. Why would they throw it out of the fridge, for heaven's sake? Do you have house insurance? Are they likely to pay for it?

@AmbiePam If these people do regular cleaning jobs, I think they need to be told that they shouldn't throw out ANY medications without checking. You might be saving someone else $400.

@AmbiePam Then they should be aware of what they did so they don't do it again.

Is this your migraine medicine? No one should throw out medicine without asking. Also there are proper and necessary ways to dispose of medicine. NOT the trash can.

No, it wasn’t my migraine medication. I still can’t believe they did it.

Wow! I definitely wouldn’t be happy about the cleaners getting rid of perfectly good medicine, especially if it costs that much. How can your dad say it’s no big deal? Is he so rich that it’s just peanuts to him?

My dad is not rich at all. He’s trying to call me down, but this is really stressing him out too. He won’t talk about it now, says it just upsets him. Seeing me stressed stresses him out, and he does not have $400 of which to be cavalier. But he’s a pastor (who makes peanuts), and he’s really into forgiving.

@Orson_Kart I thought I’d forgiven them, yet I really want them to realize the enormity of what they did. I have one expensive ring that was my late mother’s, and they didn’t take that. Which I had forgotten about until I ran across it, untouched. Of course, I had taken all my medicine in actual bottles with me when I left. I didn’t think my refrigerated medicine was in danger of being thrown out.

@AmbiePam Oh, right. I guess being a pastor he will find it hard to chastise the cleaners. I’d be full of hell and demand they replace the medicine, but I don’t have to answer to god. The cleaners are obviously not people to trust, so make sure they don’t come anywhere near your place again. Cleaners don’t normally go into fridges unless specifically told to do so. I’d be checking everywhere to make sure nothing else valuable has been stolen!

I haven't been here the last few days so im flabbergasted reading about this. I can't even imagine how or why they would throw away (or maybe take) your medication. No matter how good a job they thought they were doing that is completely crazy.

Someone needs to pay for it, whether it's your day or those who tossed it. It is a big deal and he is making it like it's not. I would change my locks and say no more coming without you there.

My dad is going to pay for it, but it makes me sick that he had too. And even though he warned me not to say anything to them about it, I don’t know if I’m going to heed that warning.

Oh, Amber!! That is just devastating! I know how hard it is, to come up with the copay on a limited budget--often, impossible. And $400 is a lot of money!! I am so sad for you.

Maybe you can talk to your dad again, and just tell him, that with love, you just want to tell them what they just throw, so they will be more careful the next time.

it is indeed, disheartening. The $400 is not a joke. Thats why its really hard to hire someone, especially those who doesnt care about the things they see and they just threw everything.
