A Ribeye for an Eye!

Torrington, Connecticut

Holy Cow, like no literally HOLY COW, steaks are very expensive nowadays. I remember about a year ago I would be able to order a 12oz Ribeye from Outback Steakhouse for about 15-18 bucks. Last night my smaller 8oz Ribeye was a whopping 32 bucks. Thank god I didn't go for the 12oz or I would have to leave a limb at the table to pay for it lol. Anybody else notice the price of meats going up?

I sure have! I just got a pound of hamburger for 5.69 which was high, last year it would have been 3.99.

Our ground beef is mostly over $7 a pound unless I get lucky. And then it’s still not cheap. It’s supposedly going to climb a lot higher. Ugh.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Yes, the grass fed is about that same amount here, too. I have caught it at Aldi several times for a better price.

We haven’t had steak in half of forever. It’s just not feasible to even think of buying it. I’m glad that you enjoyed it.

@MarieCoyle Maybe cattle farmers gri very stores transport companies etc. are going to get the message and start reducing fees a bit However, doubt anything will improve at all while we are still fighting with Iran.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX My son's friend that manages a local grocery said that they are having to cut back on the amounts of red meats that they order and stock. The sales are way down on red meats, people are buying other proteins, chicken, pork, etc.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Mine would be the worst time if I start eating meat. My whole family and even past generations were purely vegetarian. It all depends on our habit.

That steak looks absolutely delicious. I suppose prices tend to rise when gas prices go up. Hopefully, you can still enjoy it despite the cost.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Likewise, this war makes everything harder; even enjoying that steak is tough to swallow with the price tag it carries.

That is a huge jump in price. We pay alot more per pound, as we buy our beef by the hind quarter, than we did a year ago. But buying a quarter of a beef is the best way that I can escape the price hikes every other week as a quarter lasts us for almost a year.
