On June 18, Sir James Paul McCartney, CH, MBE, will turn 84. That’s not as monumental an accomplishment as another Companion of Honour, Sir David Attenborough, who just turned 100. However, to be fair, I don’t think many of us girls had posters of Attenborough on our walls when we were teenagers, and none of us have any albums by him.
So, in addition to songs that directly mention or reference the Beatles, I’m celebrating Paul’s birthday in style…with 30 great McCartney songs! (Okay, 30 songs that I love, great or not.
)
YES, there will be Beatles songs as well as Wings songs and Paul solo songs. I think the list runs from 1965 to 2026. That’s a long time, but that speaks to the man’s longevity, as well as why we should celebrate him while we have him.
You think this was easy? Here’s “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” as the teaser! For the record, Paul really had an Uncle Albert. As for Admiral William Halsey, who was an American five-star admiral, Paul said that (“hands across the water, heads across the sky”) was in reference to American aid given to the UK during World War II.

I like Paul McCartney for many reasons, but I just read the story about how when John Lennon abandoned his first wife and child, he drove out to see her and Julian, and tried to comfort them and assure them the fault was with John, not her.
His music is just the cherry on top.

Though I live in a faraway corner of the world I feel a connect with the two great artists. I celebrate them in the deep of my heart.

As much as Sir David Attenborough has been lauded over here, Sir Paul is, without doubt, the greater achiever. So many songs that have touched so many hearts.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the next month “Stuck Inside These FOUR WALLS”

I always loved this song. Not counting Beatles songs, this was always my second favorite McCartney song, my favorite being "New" (2013), probably because I was in my mid teens when it came out, though during the holidays, "Wonderful Christmas Time" sneaks in there to be my absolute favorite for a little while. But wow, it's hard to believe he's almost 84 now! I feel like his newer music doesn't get discussed nearly enough, but this one is fantastic!

He has a nice voice. He's written a lot of songs. Interesting about Uncle Albert. I had often wondered about that line when I listened to the song.

This is probably the only Wings tune I ever really liked.
But like so many I never heard 'heads' across the sky.
Since I grew up I prefer to watch Davids documenteries rather than music.
