Did you ever just want to scream at someone, even when there is no one to scream at?

That's where I am right now. I truly do want to come unglued and rant until my voice is gone. And yet, it will do no good at all. Absolutely none.
We had 12 pages that son had to fill out with MORE medical information for his disability claim. There was a time limit, which we met. I helped him with it all, there were a LOT of questions to answer, and there was no simple yes or no things, all had to have a lengthy explanation. It took up most of one day, and we went over it twice to make sure we didn't miss a single thing. It had to be sent to the lawyer by Friday May 22, 2026 and arrive by May 28, 2026. I mailed it on May 21, 2026. I have the receipt to prove that. I paid for Priority Mail and for registered mail as well. There was no reason it shouldn't have arrived.
I was assured that it would arrive before that date and paid the fees and got receipts for it all. I have used registered mail before for peace of mind with important papers, so that someone would HAVE to sign for the package. End of story, right? Umm...nope.
It never arrived. I still have the receipt, but no one knows where it is!! The lawyer's office is going back to their post office in the morning, and I am going back to mine (again!!) to see if anything has been discovered, but I'm honestly not holding my breath. We spent a ton of time on those papers. They were very important. And now the post office doesn't know where they are.
It's way past the time that their bad service is just a joke. This could mean yet another huge delay, etc. and we are just stuck. If they can't be found anywhere, I am going no doubt take the son to the lawyer's office and back, which is a full day of him in the car, me driving, and him not being well enough to go on such a trip.
I really do want to scream. I'm no crybaby, but I cried. And son is so, so down....
I hate the US postal service with a passion. I can't help it.

These were time sensitive documents. If they have to be redone, etc. it will be backed up for weeks and weeks. I feel like we did everything we could to get the papers to them safely, and it still wasn't enough, due to their inefficiency. Thank you, Julia, so much.

Oops, sorry. I make mistakes sometimes, when I am in a hurry. My apologies.

Oh wow, I;m so sorry.
. Can't you track it? I thought registered mail had the tracking feature with it. Maybe you should consider going to the media. I think I would do something radical like that..until it is found, or call your representatives..and explain the seriousness of the situation.

@MarieCoyle I wonder if there are any nearby lawyers wiith similar names it may have been delivered to? I think by law the PO has to investigate; Be proactive and refuse to accept this. I am serious about calling your..local media if you can't get satisfaction from the PO. The lawyer should help with this too..and not expect you to do everything.

I plan on spending all of tomorrow's business hours working on this mess. And yes, our lawyer's office is working on it from their end, too, as I have sent them many documents and forms, etc. the same exact way, and they have always arrived timely with no issues. Everything they send to us, they send registered mail, and everything I send to them is the same. That's their preference due to the poor postal service, and even though I would rather not spend extra money, this is important so I always send them their stuff this way. Believe me, I will be very proactive. My Mama Bear outfit is on, and I don't give up. Thank you, Snowy.

Did you make copies of all the papers so you don’t have to fill out the papers again? It took us one screw up from the post office to do that and everything else you said you did to make sure everything got there on time. And I know it still doesn’t always work, like you said. You are justifiably upset and angry, and if anyone disagrees they are ignorant and obviously have no clue what they are talking about.
And Marie, I know you are tired of everything , but if you ever have insomnia, write your Congressman about this and the other incidents with the post office. You never know.

I honestly thought about copies when we started this disability fight. But we have never, ever had any issues with the method of having the mail sent to them and having to be signed for--that was their preferred method, and ours, too. They have gotten every single thing we've ever sent to them in a timely manner--until now. Trust me, from now on anything I send them I will make copies. I guess I just didn't think it was necessary, but evidently it is!
Yes, I am tired of it all, and so is my son. But we both can't give up now, as you know. It's a matter of survival. And yes, I will be contacting my Congressman if we cannot find out where these papers are. You know I have my never give up mode in high gear. Thank you so much, Amber.

If I have to take it that far, trust me I will. Tomorrow morning I am going to talk to the head of the district postal service person...we shall see if she can shed some light on it all. I am going to mention that I am willing to take my complaint further if I need to. I have my receipts, etc...and if I have to, I will do it.

I am so sorry, and I know that will not fix the problem.
But
to you through this.
My first question is to ask who does the USPS answer to?
Is it the state or the federal level of government?
I would find my local rep and I would quietly, as that will speak volumes, to them regarding this.
This is a very serious offense that they have committed, essentially, they have lost some very time sensitive personal documents.

USPS is federal level. They are in a crisis mode and hire anyone who is sober enough to stand up and apply for a job. I will start on this early tomorrow and don't worry, I will take it as far as I have to. As you say, this is serious and it has to be rectified. Thanks, Julia.

So sorry about that. Hope they get found. But you are right. When you pay all that extra it should get safely there on time. Have a good scream. They can feel good

Eva, I ranted and fussed for a bit and didn't want to upset my son so I just sucked it up...you know how it is. Then I had to run a quick errand, and while I was in the car I cranked up the music and sang, really loud, to burn off steam. I bet that was a sight to behold, haha!

I know what you mean since batteries that I ordered from eBay have yet to arrive to my home. Hopefully eBay will be able to refund my money.

That is a lot of work on paperwork. I certainly hope they track it down soon. Those all day trips for our loved ones just stink.

Of course now that I have my head together I am geared up for the fight… but I have to question why it’s even necessary!! I did everything right and it still didn’t arrive.
We can do hard things. This has to happen and we will do everything in our power to get this mess fixed!! Thanks, Heather.

I can feel you with that sentiment. I also experienced issues with regard to my father's grants to be claimed at one of the local government agencies here. There was too much paperwork, and they processed it so slowly, and that includes the flaws they were asking about.

Paperwork can be so tedious and as you say, it can also take forever to process. I'm sorry you've had delays in your father's grants. I know it is so frustrating!

The post office sucks. Take that from someone who used to work there.
What’s worse now as opposed to then is that, back then, they acted like they cared. I went to the post office a couple of weeks ago when a credit card didn’t show up on time. Trust me, they didn’t even begin to act like they were interested in my problem.
Lesson learned: replacement credit card #2 was sent via UPS and arrived right on time, almost down to the minute.

That makes no sense! We receive a tracking number when we send something by registered mail. We can check where the mail is, when it is delivered and see the signature of the person who received the mail. That is really a terrible service. I am so sorry you and your son are so down.

This is just so, so bad. No wonder you feel like screaming after going to so much trouble. It's just awful but I bet there is no-one who will take responsibility for the non-delivery.

I am so, so sorry. I had the same thing happen to me. This was for an Appeal Hearing for my husband's rehab costs. We paid around $60 for the package to arrive on time....but it didn't.

hehe, nevermind.
