Yup that's right. My two eldest have their last day of school. They're finishing grades 7 and 8. First and second year of high school. They do have some exams, but only a couple. Then they're officially on summer break. Hard to believe it's the end of year for them. Went by fast.

Are you looking as forward to them being out of school as they are? Edit to add: School here goes Elementary - Kindergarten to 8th grade then High School from 9th grade through 12th grade. Then college if they want it and can afford it.

I am looking forward to having a break from the morning before school and having a bit more time with them. For us, Elementary is kindergarten to grade 6. Then high school from grades 7 to 11. Then Cegep and university for those who go.

@DaddyEvil Yeah that sounds pretty typical for teenagers. My two eldests are pretty good about getting themselves ready and off to school for the most part. Whether we're here or not.

@dodo19 The early mornings will go to them sleeping longer, at least that's what happened when Pretty was that age. She hated waking up for school and would skip if I wasn't there making sure she got on the bus. The only times she'd voluntarily wake up early was when I made plans for the lake or an amusement park... A couple of times she'd be growly in the mornings when I was trying to get us out the door... Then I stopped talking about going anywhere and just let her sleep until she asked why we didn't go anywhere anymore. I told her I was tired of being growled at and that ruined my day so there was no reason for me to want to take her anywhere. She started waking up, being pleasant to be around and asking if we could go to the lake for swims or to local amusement parks. When she woke me up to go somewhere, then I'd get up, shower and dress and we'd be out the door early enough to do things we both liked.

They'll probably see their friends, go to the pool, relax, watch tv, teenage stuff. They are definitely happy and looking forward to the summer break.

They have grown so quickly, I remember you posting about when they began school. Your high schools start very young in your province, here they begin at grade 9. I hope that they have a great summer.

Yeah I remember when they did and talking about. It goes by really fast. A bit too fast for me at times, but it is what it is. It's interesting that it's later for you. For us, it's elementary until grade 6 and then high school for grades 7 to 11. It's interesting to hear how it differs from place to place. I'm sure they'll have a great summer. And thanks!

@Juliaacv Yes they do. We also have Cegep here which other provinces don't have. It means we do a year less of high school and university. Cegep makes up for that. For the most part.

Our kids break up shortly but just for two weeks. Their big break comes over Christmas which is our summer.

It's the opposite from us. It's two weeks at Christmas and longer break during our summer (June, July, August).

I hope they enjoy their summer. The kids here are out of school, but none of them are out and about because it is too hot. Which is kind of hilarious to me. Wait until August gets here, and they’ll really be housebound.

Now you have to consider what they'll be doing during the summer. High school for me started at the grade of 9.
