Soup Night at the clubhouse / myLot

Tonight is Soup Night at the clubhouse. Various residents have made the soups and will be paid for the ingredients. There will be six or eight different soups and a lot of different crusty breads to choose from. I could make a meal just on the lovely breads. It’s winter here so hot soup for dinner sounds good to me. The soups offered vary from year to year but there is probably pumpkin, potato and leek, minestrone, vegetable, pea and ham plus one or two more. The photo is of the clubhouse ready for the Christmas luncheon. I’ll go up there shortly to help them put out the tables and ‘dress’ them. Roll on dinnertime.

It's all set up now and we'll be going up in about an hour. There's no special decorations this time.

I love soups, creamy pumpkin is one of my favorite, but also a Tuscan bean soup, or mushrooms and grbanzo beans, not to forget the French onion soup. There are so many soups I like.

@JudyEv - Clear soups are also good, a simple chicken soup, egg drop soup is good too.

I'll try to make a mental note of what soups we have. Those you mention all sound yummy. There may not be a clear soup.

They buy the most lovely bread too. The bread is nearly as good as the soup.

Since we keep the house cool, I eat soup even though it's not soup weather outside. I made a batch of broccoli, Cheddar and chicken soup a few days ago. (Pretty won't eat anything that has broccoli in it.) It was enough for me to eat three meals out of it. It's my favorite type of soup.

I can eat soup at any time too. It's never too hot for me to enjoy soup. I've made cold cucumber soup - vichyoisse I think it's called. That's nice too on a hot day.

@JudyEv Mom made cucumber soup when I was young. It wasn't my favorite but I would eat cucumber sandwiches with her on hot days.

I know what you mean. I can recall going to a whole foods spot downtown when I worked down there. I would just get a thick slice of their 8-grain wheat bread and having it for my lunch. It was so filling and delicious. Just a little real butter on it and it was my lunch. Mmm. The pea and ham sound good. Enjoy!
