Black Eye...

I have a black eye this morning. My eyes feel like there is something in them every once in a while but Pretty can't see anything. I've stopped asking her to look. Or, she offers to poke my eyes out to make them stop hurting.
I told her to do it instead of just offering... See how mean she is to me?
I accused her of actually poking my eye during the night but she says she didn't do it, this time.
I think my eye was hurting again last night... I rub them when they hurt. I think I rubbed too hard or too persistently this time. The upper lid is dark reddish purple this morning. At least my eye doesn't hurt this morning.

If there is something in your eye causing you to rub them, could Pretty try to put drops in them to cleanse them for you? I wonder if that would at least rule out and possible clean out anything that could cause you to want to rub them.
I hope that you can find some relief, even if it is in the passage of time, that they stop bothering you.

@DaddyEvil I had to take my husband to see the doctor this afternoon.
A while back one of the girls tossed a big ball to him and it hit his glasses which pushed up and the side piece of the bridge came into contact with his eye. It looked quite bad for almost a week, alot of blood pooled there.
It cleared up and the next day, the same things happened, and his eye is still bloody and swollen. It has been over a week, so he needed to see the doctor. He has a prescription for an ointment to put onto the eye itself. He told me that he will be able to put a cm of the ointment across his eye on his own, which is a good thing because I couldn't do it and I think that it would be unhygienic if I did it. But, I do hope that this does the trick, the doctor suggested it was bacterial.

@Juliaacv I'm glad you took him to the doctor. That doesn't sound good... Hopefully he'll be able to get the ointment in where it needs to go. (If he does need help, try pulling one of his eyelids away from his eye and put the ointment on the inside of the lid. When he blinks, it will put the ointment where it needs to go without anyone needing to touch his eye.)
Blood in the eye can take a while to reabsorb.

I think they're just dry. I put medicated eye drops in them twice a day but that doesn't always help. I have an appointment in a couple of days with my doctor.
Thank you.

Those poor eyes. Could you have broken a blood vessel?
You two have such a cute relationship.

@celticeagle We're going to a dentist in the morning. I have three teeth that need attention. Hopefully they'll be able to take care of all three of them.
Thank you. Trying my best.

Cute relationship? She's so mean to me!
I use medicated eye drops twice a day. Sometimes they help and sometimes they don't. When I can't see, Pretty puts the drops in my eyes for me.
I think you're right about the broken blood vessel. Both hyperthyroidism and hydrocephalus cause high pressure and can cause blood vessels to pop. I can't see any broken blood vessels but that doesn't mean there aren't any.1 person likes this

Thank you.
Pretty made an appointment with my regular doctor in a couple of days. She said both hyperthyroidism and hydrocephalus raise blood pressure so can make small blood vessels rupture.
The doctor suggested she might send me back to the hospital to have another MRI done to make sure blood vessels in my brain aren't rupturing.

@DaddyEvil Lol. So not so little. She's the same age as I am. Didn't realize that. Either way, still fun lol.
Glad you have an appointment to see a doctor. Hopefully your doctor can figure it out.

@dodo19 Yeah, I figured you were old enough to be my kid.
I adopt a lot of kids... Do your kids need another grandfather?
I'm afraid she already did but isn't sure. I have hyperthyroidism and hydrocephalus and both can cause high blood pressure that can cause small blood vessels to rupture.

One thing I’ve found as we get older is that we bruise very easily. Meds can also exacerbate that.
But most likely, Pretty did it.
Hope it’s better quickly!

Saturday night my other eye bled across my face and on my white pillow case. Pretty called the doctor's office and got me an appointment in a couple of days.

I accused her of poking me in the eye while I was asleep... She actually got upset and told me I can't say things like that. (When I accidentally sliced my wrist open on the broken garage window, I jokingly said at the hospital that I slit my wrist... Three nurses looked at me startled and Pretty told them I was joking.
)
I know better than to tease like that if medical professionals can hear me now.

I did put an ice pack on my eye, thank you. Then the other eye started bleeding while I was asleep. It bled down my face and all over my white pillowcase. The bruise is starting to heal already. The eyelid around the bruise is turning yellow now.

You probably did rub your eye too hard and caused the bruise. I don't think Pretty poked or punched you

You're getting old, not me.
I'm only 62 years old... I have a long time before I get old.
I've never broken blood vessels in/around my eyes before but I did break one yesterday while I was asleep. My eye bled down my cheek and on my pillow.
I have a doctor appointment in a couple of days. The doctor will check them but thinks either the hyperthyroidism or the hydrocephalus are causing high pressure in my skull and making the blood vessels pop. She was talking about ordering another brain scan. We shall see.@DaddyEvil (176487)

That IS always a possibility but I don't think that really happened. I've never caught her walking in her sleep. I do that at times, though.

Hello!
True, whatever it was is out now. The black eye is almost gone. It always feels like there is something in one eye or the other.

It's possible that I rubbed too hard or it could be that the blood pressure was high enough to make a blood vessel pop. Both hyperthyroidism and hydrocephalus can raise my BP high enough to make thin blood vessels rupture. I'll see my doctor in a couple of days.
