Just Not Good

Well, it’s 1:15pm, and the power is still not on at my place or my dad’s. I went to church, and the scenery on the way there was eye opening. We had 95mph wind last night, and it looks like it. My picture is of only part of my dad’s yard; the other side of the yard has no fence. People have their chainsaws out, cutting up the branches and trees that are strewn everywhere. I just really hope the electricity gets going. I don’t know how much longer my power banks are going to last. Yes, I charged one at church, but that was just for an hour. I’d like to be able to keep my phone charged. Right now, I’ve got an ice cold water I stopped for after I filled up my gas tank. I’m keeping it right up on my chest to keep myself from being overwhelmed. You know how badly I do in extreme heat and humidity. What are you guys up to?

Everything is okay here. We may get a thunderstorm. From what you wrote and the above picture you posted, do you think your area may have gotten a mini tornado?

Wow on your storm and your Dad's yard. I hope you get power super soon. My household is resting up from fireworks that kept making noise until nearly 2 am.

We had some straight line winds. The biggest damage in our area is in Goessell, a little town 20 or so miles from us. However, there are a few limbs down around and some Johnson grass in a field nearby has blown nearly flat.

If you want, you can come here. Our power didn't go out last night so it's still 74F in the house. We bought food yesterday so the fridge and freezers are full. I KNOW our living room couch is comfy to sleep on, too. I just ate the last of the fresh strawberries but there are frozen ones in the little freezer... You can go through everything and see what sounds good to you to eat.

@AmbiePam I know it's a long way for you to drive but you'd be welcome if you felt like coming to stay for a week or two. You could sort through our food stores and take stuff home when you go back. We have a totes of stuff that doesn't need refrigeration...

Oh, I wish there was some place you could go to get cooled off! I'm so sorry. I am sure there are a lot of people working hard to get it all restored, but from the looks of your Dad's yard, there must be a ton of damage everywhere. It's concerning that you suffer so much from the heat and now have no relief!

You may have to get in that pool whether you want to or not. It is threatening to storm big time here, but I did get out Thank God. I was going stir crazy. It might pass us by though. It doesn't seem as dark as it was a few minutes ago. Stay safe there! Maybe you can buy a bag of ice that hasn't melted and put it in Sade's water.

We had a weird day today (you can tell I’m behind in responding to discussions ). I went to get a haircut after lunch. An hour after I got home, the area where I’d been for the haircut was flooded. It hadn’t been raining at all when I was there. Thankfully, no injuries with this. Oh, and there was nary a drop of rain on my block…the weather radar showed it raining two blocks over, though.

It really is a mess, I am so sorry. But hopefully they will get everything cleaned up and get that hydro back on. I hope that you can find a way to survive the heat and humidity.

Those winds sure made a mess of the yard. I hope your power is fixed quickly. I can see how it is an awful situation for you.
