Half Back

After an oppressive day of heat with no air conditioning (bless the people who never have any), my dad’s electricity came on about an hour ago, a full 24 hours after it went out. Hopefully, when I get up in the morning, my power will back on; I’ll definitely enjoy tonight at my dad’s with plenty of cold air. When the electricity made a noise that indicated it was on, my dad moved to look at the thermostat. I got up, blocked his access, and said, “Don’t you dare touch this thermostat!” He started laughing (as I knew he would) and left it alone. Some of you might remember my dad’s tendency to barely run the air to save money. It’s sort of a game to him. Believe me, he’s not playing around in 100 degree heat!
The governor did declare our area a disaster, so people will be getting some help. They are saying it might take three days to fully restore power to everyone.
My radiologist friend told me I could stay at his house and he’d stay somewhere else, but I’d feel funny running around in someone else’s home while they weren’t there. I tell you, if my dad’s power had not have come back on I might have taken him up on that tomorrow. Now I don’t need to.
What is your projected weather looking like?

Sadie does look comfy there. She looks just like my sons dog Millie
Glad that you are able to stay at your dads and enjoy the a/c.
We had lots of power outages here over the last few days. Thankfully my power stayed on but the internet kept going out.

It was in the 90's in Denver today, a dry heat. I went for a 21-mile bike ride in it.

@AmbiePam - I don't care much for humidity myself. It was really bad when I was in Panama.

I'd be worried about the food in the fridge after that long
being without power for 1, but I would have told him the
same thing “Don’t you dare touch this thermostat!”
Right now I'm looking at 70 degrees at 6am & it's just
going to be in the low 80's today which is a blessing.

It's still raining here tonight. I haven't looked to see what the weather might be doing tomorrow.

I'm so glad your dad's power finally came back on. After 24 hours without electricity in that kind of heat, having the air conditioning running again must have felt amazing.

Sadie found her spot! She’s such a cutie.
I suppose pretty much everyone has now lost the entire contents of their refrigerators if everyone was out as long as your Dad was, and you. I know how expensive of a loss that can be. I’m so sorry. The last time we were out for several days my neighbor lost her insulin. Insurance of course didn’t cover a replacement. It was so sad.
