Almost Couldn't Access The Internet on my Laptop

I was listening to a favorite YouTuber playing games with his friends when I went to sleep. Woke up to go to the little boy's room and came back to a laptop offline. It kept refusing the password to our internet. We finally completely shut it down, restarted it and tried the internet password several more times and it took it. Pretty says we'll have to get me a new one if it does that again. I'll tell you, it scared me! Anyway, it's back up and working again now.

@DaddyEvil I am doing fine, except for a few irritants and issues. Some are easy to handle, or with some effort. Some are complicted. Yet that is life. I hope you are in good health. Here, we have low rainfall, hot and humid weather. It did rain today but just a little bit. El Nino means deficient rainfall this year. Hot & Humid weather really tests. And one cannot always be inside a room with AC switched on!

@DaddyEvil Let me assure you, I am a merciful soul. Otherwise, I can be irritating all the time...

I'm doing fine, thank you for asking. I noticed a few people haven't been around lately. You, included. I hope things are going well for you and your family. Pretty and I don't have a television that is smart. We never bought one.

I know how scary it is when this happens. Did you contact your provider to know if there was a problem. It happened to me a few months ago, it was not my computer, the provider had a problem.

@DaddyEvil - If your other devices worked it was a problem coming from your laptop. It's weird, I cannot see what happened.

@LadyDuck I think my laptop is just wearing out. I've only had it for three or four years and my last laptop (same brand and same OS) lasted almost ten years. But I'm online every day for most of the day either talking on myLot, watching YT videos or just listening to my laptop read to me when I can't see.

No, we didn't. Pretty's devices weren't having any problems and my phone could still connect to the internet. Pretty kept shutting my laptop off and turning it back on until it connected and accepted the password. We have no clue why it did that.

Glad you are back u[ and running. I had some trouble for a bit this morning with the computer not responding to my mouse and keyboard. I think they just were loose cause Pedro had knocked them both off the desk.

Thank you. I think my laptop is wearing out. I'm using it most of the time anymore, even when I'm asleep. I listen to YouTubers playing games or it reads to me when I can't see. Yup! Cats are good at that kind of thing. I'm glad it was something easy.

Normally, shutting down and restarting solves such issues. At times, the computer plays games on us!

True... I'm not a novice working on laptops/computers but this time it had me really confused and worried. I BUILT the desktop my daughter uses so I thought I knew what I was doing...

@DaddyEvil I am comfortable using laptops and phones but not technical. I had an issue few months back and I was told to log off from the antivirus program as it was blocking Windows Defender and a few programs.

@Shiva49 I used to offer to help people on myLot with technical issues with electronics but am forgetting too much of the things I used to know. Yes, I've had that issue, too. I just disabled my antivirus program, let Windows Defender run and then turned the antivirus back on again and ignored Windows Defender. As long as nothing bad was found on your computer, then Windows Defender had no reason to complain... But Microsoft doesn't like people using programs that block their access to your computer. I don't WANT Microsoft knowing what I'm doing on my laptop.

Thank you. Pretty kept trying it until it accepted the password. We have no idea why it did that.

More than we should, true. I hope my laptop keeps working for some time yet. I know Pretty doesn't want to spend money on a new one right now.

Because I don't control "our" money anymore. I would have gone and bought myself a new laptop after it stopped working like that. Pretty HATES spending money for things for me unless the doctors say I need it. (She'll buy stuff for her that isn't necessary.) I LIKE listening to some of the YouTubers playing games or talking about stuff I enjoy while I fall asleep.

@lovebuglena The first thing I do with a new laptop is lock the screen in the correct position and then lock the toolbar out of my way on the left side of the screen. I'm surprised yours didn't auto-update to Win11 like mine did. Mine was also Win10 until one day it told me it had updated and I couldn't get Win10 back again.

@DaddyEvil I should probably get a new laptop. The battery goes fast. Sometimes screen will autorotate for no reason and not stop. Screen can flicker too but that I can stop by plugging it in. My PC is no good for Windows 11 either so I still have Windows 10. And I don’t think it does updates anymore. But other than that the laptop still works so I can’t bring myself to get a new one.

You never know, she might have. I saw her watching our fishies swimming in their tank a few days ago. Maybe she needed to calm down after something she researched online wasn't as nice as she'd hoped?
