Well Poop!

Thank God, the colonoscopy misery is over for five years! I don’t mind telling y’all that I was more than just a little apprehensive about this one.
Why? The last colonoscopy was only three years ago. Back in 2023 they found polyps, which necessitated the “quicker” repeat (routine colonoscopies are normally every five years). It didn’t surprise me that he found a couple of polyps: after all, my dear mother of blessed memory had a few. There’s also a strong family history: my drear grandfather and older uncle of blessed memory (mom’s dad and brother) had colon cancer. In both cases it was caught and treated early. However, the discovery of polyps was concerning.
This one, however, was clean.
Back to the “normal” five-year routine.
The picture attached is one of the constant reminders I saw this week. Walmart had MiraLax on sale in an aisle display, too.
The most hilarious thing was our music group: I asked for songs that reminded people of a colonoscopy, either by band name (there’s really a band called the Butthole Surfers!
), song title, or lyrics. Of course the obvious things, like “It Keeps You Running” and “Runnin’ on Empty” were there. The one that had me on the floor laughing, however, was one of my favorite Jackson Browne songs: “Before the Deluge.”
Anyway, thanks for everyone’s messages, prayers, and well wishes.

Well done on it being clean
5 years before the next one is good news.
My knowledge of this subject is zilch.
And I had never heard of the Butthole Surfers either

I’m sure you can tell by their name that they’re NOT a Barry Manilow cover band. [em\]rofl[/em]

@Ineeddentures — it’s a punk band. Sorry, thought the name would be a giveaway.

I’m glad as well. I pray everyone else who was there today had results just as good as mine!

Pretty didn't think any of those were funny... But I did!
The doctor cut out polyps when I had my first colonoscopy but I refused getting a second. I've been doing the box type since then.

I guess it’s because I’m older, but this prep HURT. Not the hours-in-the-bathroom part, but the no food for a day and a half part. I’ll bring that up with my GI doctor when I see her for my follow-up.

I was so happy to read this. And I had a big laugh over the songs picked for the colonoscopy! We need more laughter in this crazy world, and this was a good one!

There were other ones, like Dave Mason’s “Let It Go, Let It Flow,” and a band called Uranus.

I’m 45, and I’m told this is my first year of needing a colonoscopy. My sister has had them since she was 30 because of polyps, but none were unusual. My Aunt Ruth had stage four colon cancer 23 years ago, and is still going, can you believe that? I guess I just need to get real and do it.
I’m so glad you are okay.

Thanks so much for your prayers. I would ask if you could talk to your doctor about doing the “Cologuard” thing, but I just read your discussion about the prescription.

@fourwalls It’s so nice to have it officially confirmed that one’s butt is clean. Well done you.

Yeah, that kept me laughing during the long night in the bathroom.
