Could you use this toilet?
I'm not so sure I could
It could get messy methinks
Anyway
These were installed near a tourist attraction in the English City of Cambridge , reason given was that foreigners prefer these " squat toilets"
It looks quite difficult from where I am sitting ( excuse the pun)
If blokes can miss a proper toilet when go peepee they have no chance of getting it in there
And explain to me how one does poo poo
My hip wouldn't let me squat
How about you
Could you use this toilet?

@Ineeddentures - I used one of those things more than once. I felt safer than sitting on a dirty WC for sure.

Fair enough
When we go out
We carry anti bacterial wipes
If we have to use a toilet for a sit down we always use the wipes
We have a radar key
So we normally use disabled facilities
They are always cleaner to begin with

I know it sounds nasty, but can one sit down on that thing? Assuming you can put something on top like a toilet seat cover or some such thing.

@Ineeddentures It's not built to sit down on it. It was considered more hygienic than a normal toilet in public places just because you do not sit on it. NO contact.

We came across these a lot in Thailand and Nepal and even one in France. I couldn't use them now. I can't squat either. In some of our tourists' places we have these signs warning people not to try to squat on the conventional toilet.

@Ineeddentures I don't have good balance. I'd probably fall in my own mess. It would not be good. But at least I guess I'd be relieved in one way, but not in another. lol

What? Are you sure it isn't some kind of bidet? That is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. It looks more like a sink that a toilet.

That is still a modern toilet. Before things changed in Latvia after the Soviets, you would go in a bathroom in a public place and find you had to stand on a platform and pee in a hole,

Yes, I've used those in other countries and I quite like them because there's no issue over whether or not it's hygienic to sit on the seat.
I'm not sure we should change things in this country to suit visitors though, but that's a whole different question.

@Ineeddentures I was in India for thirty years, Singapore for forty plus years.
In between five years in Indonesia too.
I had a British colleague in Indonesia who had worked in Iran, Nigeria, Greece.
He used water to clean after doing his business saying he got used to it and felt much cleaner than with toilet paper.

I could not. I had an injury as a child to my left leg which prevents me from squatting. I can sort of squat if I hold onto something sturdy like a table or pole, but it can get uncomfortable quickly.
