Helping My Legs

I have Restless Leg Syndrome as some of you also do. I need to pick up my medication for it, but unfortunately I’ll have to wait until next month. Tonight, they are really bothering me, so I slathered magnesium lotion on them. After ten minutes no more awful uncomfortable sensations! This also works for my 15 year old niece. They think she had trouble sleeping due to being premature and having had to be on so many steroids because of it. She was recently on a prescription medication when my sister decided to try magnesium lotion on her legs, and now she easily goes to sleep. She still only sleeps five hours, but at least she’s not in Trazodone now. Yep, it was so bad they put a 15 year old on Trazodone. Not anymore! How many of you incorporate magnesium anything in your routine?

I get it sometimes and I hate it. I'm going to have to keep the lotion in mind.

@AmbiePam - Luckily for me, it doesn't happen too often. I don't know how I'd deal with it if it did. I feel for you.

Sorry you are going through that. Glad that lotion helps though...for both of you. I don't deal with that, but I have dealt with leg cramps in the night that woke me up...and they'd keep coming back. I should probably take magnesium for that, luckily I haven't dealt with it in a while now.

Yeah, my dad takes magnesium for his leg cramps too. They always get him at night.

@AmbiePam That is good to know it works for that too, the magnesium. I'll get them in my feet too if I walk too much.

Yes! I recommended it to my BIL for his knee, and he used a roll on I also use, and it helps him tremendously.

Magnesium doesn't make you sleepy? I have used just a teeny spray and slept deeply. More than that and I am groggy the next day. I'm so glad you are getting relief for your leg problems.

It doesn’t at all. I’ve had magnesium so low three times though that they had to give me an IV of it, and it still doesn’t make me sleepy. I hate that it makes you groggy the next day since I know it could be so helpful if didn’t do that.

Son has had restless leg syndrome for years...he takes meds for it, too. I had him taking magnesium but it didn't seem to help. Maybe we should try the lotion. Thanks for the tip. I wish you could get your meds for it! I get to go fight with the pharmacy tomorrow. I will go with a smile on my face...I promise.

Yes, try the lotion, Marie. The pill form of Magnesium did nothing for me. Just slather his legs, and even feet with it.
