A Little disquieting

I saw a person walking up the road on the street. He went past my house and was staring.
He walked back again. Then past again. Eventually he came to my door. He wanted to ask about my cars. My neighbor's cars. Do I know of any cars that need work? I explicitly told him I sold my extra cars last week. I told him very little about the neighbor.
He told me he was here working on cars and staying with Frank and Rita. I told him I do not know who Frank and Rita are
He said my neighbor looked like he was set up for a yard sale. I told him not to my knowledge. He has a lot of things because both his parents died.
The man is a different race than me. That does not matter. The fact that he is so aimless, and is randomly checking out houses matters. It felt like he was casing the place. He had his hair covered, but has gray in his beard. I am glad my desk faces the street. I always set up that way. I need to go make sure both of my sheds are locked.
Would this have made you uneasy?

Very uneasy. He’s way too nosy. Things like this is one of the reasons people get cameras. Make sure you lock the cars and shed and whatever. Better to be proactive than not-you have enough on your plate already.

@gardengerty Very uneasy, and I’d try to get a photo of him and let neighbours know.

It does seem he may be up to no good. If he wants to work on cars he can go get a job at a garage instead of acting suspicious. He may be harmless but better to be careful and aware. I’m sure you mentioned this to your neighbors so they are aware as well.

I rarely look outside unless I'm in the kitchen and then I admire our back yard and the trees growing there.
I was looking out the front windows and door yesterday and today because of all the noise at the neighbor across the street. He had five holes dug in his yard with a backhoe yesterday morning and is having his roof replaced today.

Very! You might even report it as suspicious to police so they can randomly look out for this guy and maybe check him out. I would ask the neighbors if they know Frank and Rita. Sounds like he just gave you random names. Be safe and watch your surroundings when you go out of the house!

Yes, that would make me feel very uneasy.
It sounds like you got as good a look at hm as you could.
I hope that you can take down the details that you remember so that you can advise your neighbours of so that they can remain safe too. Word of mouth looking out for each other's best interests is a good thing.

Yes, that seems very odd. If the guy was looking for jobs repairting cars, he could have written up some notes with his name, address, and phone and perhaps popped them into mailboxes and then moved on

I think this would have made me uneasy too. I suppose one thing in his favour is that he did come to the door but even then he seemed to be asking a lot of questions.
