First day of school for two of them

Two of my kids have their first day of school today. My son starts grade 6 today. Last day of elementary school. Then he's off to high school! Hard to believe it. My eldest has her first day of grade 9 today. Then off for two days and goes back on Thursday. My second goes back to school on Wednesday. First day of grade 8. Their high school is making sure that not all the grades have their first day at the same time. Which is nice. Either way, as nice as it was having them home, it's nice that they're going back to school.

I hope they all enjoy school. School districts here all start on the same day so parents don't have to wonder where to find a babysitter for one day out of a week...

Some things they enjoy more than others, which is normal. I can understand starting all on the same day. For the moment, it's not a huge problem for me as my kids are at the age where they don't really need a babysitter. But I know it's not always easy finding babysitters sometimes.

It really does go by quickly. It feels like just yesterday I was sending them off to their first day. I'm sure they'll have a good year.

School all started the same day here, two weeks ago. We start in August and get out in May. I hope your kids enjoy their classes.

It can make it easier when everyone starts at the same time. I'm sure there are going to be some they don't like, but hopefully there are still some they like.

I know they are usually excited to meet their friends, but they are also unhappy because vacation time is over.

@LadyDuck Yeah, I did look forward to seeing my friends. I didn't mind having to go back to school, but I wouldn't have turned down more time off either.

Thanks. It's not always easy, but it was still nice being able to have a bit more time with them. Now it's time to go back though. So far it was a good first day. At least for two of them.

I’ve never heard of a school not having all the students go back the same day. Why do you think that is they do that?

It's really only for the first few days of school. For my older two it was 3 days where different grades would go in. After that they all go in. I think it's mostly to maybe make the first day a bit more manageable for everyone.
