As I had expected

Well, as expected last night was rough for Bob and staff. Not eating, slept all day, then up at night roaming and rummaging. They want him to use the walker and he does not want to be compliant. He used it today for lunch.
On the other hand, when I went in this morning Bob and I talked for about an hour and a half before he said he was sleepy. He said he did not realize when he went there yesterday he was coming to stay. I reminded him we had talked about it, but it was just like the reality hit him suddenly, yesterday..
About the time he got sleepy Joe, one of the aids came in and said it was lunch time. The food was smelling really good, so Joe got Bob dressed and he used his walker to go eat.I ordered a meal and stayed as well. The food was good and well presented and Bob ate all of it. Then he took his nap.
For inquiring minds--we had smothered pork chops, oven roasted potatoes, a dinner roll, seasoned peas and peach cobbler, along with beverages of choice.
Bob understands, I think, that if he is going to sleep I will not stay and I will not be there every day. I bought a recliner that will be delivered tomorrow afternoon and I bought a small television. I am taking a dresser for it to sit on. I am not going tomorrow, so I hope looking forward to the new recliner will be a distraction tomorrow. Thursday I will take the chest of drawers and the TV..
So that is my daily report.

It is a big adjustmeNt floor everybody. At least it sounds like a good place. Glad it was available for him.

He is eating and napping. The rest takes some time. I think it's pretty normal for him to push and see what he can get at the beginning. Glad the food is good. Always a plus.

Sounds like a rough night but a good morning, glad Bob got some good food in him and used that walker. That reality hitting him sudden like that is hard, but you being there for that long talk probably meant a lot. The recliner and tv sound like a nice thing for him to look forward to.

They often forget things. Hope he settles in soon. A new recliner should help.

I hope Bob can understand that you won't be there every day and that the new recliner and TV helps him settle in. I know how hard this is but take care of yourself and Bob seems to be in good hands.

I hope he comes to realise that is his new home but maybe it will take a while to sink in. Take comfort in knowing he is better off where he is.

I am sure it will take awhile for him to feel somewhat settled in there. And I am sure that your home seems overly quiet to you. But it's a blessing that it seems like a nice place with good care and food. Hopefully he will get to know some of the other residents and make a friend or two. I know this has to be really hard for you, be kind to yourself, Heather.
