Don't yell at me, says the dog

I read a good news story this morning about farmers in our south-west (of Western Australia) and how they treasure their old working dogs. Some are arthritic, some are deaf but they still turn up each morning, anxious and eager to help the boss with his sheep work.
I had to laugh at one owner who said her old dog didn’t like to be yelled at. You could speak firmly but the moment you started to raise your voice, the dog went back to the ute (utility/pickup) and refused to work till you calmed down. Good for him I say!
We’ve also had a FB message from Pippa’s owner. They’re getting a tag for her today so that’s good news too.
The photo is mine of a border collie, one of the breeds used for stock work here.

That dog wouldn't have made it in the army. Just saying.

That's what a lot of people do not know about dogs. They bark and yell a lot but if you raise their voice to them they get a bit weird.
Here is the the thing though their barking and yelling is in protection of you, Your barking and yelling is to tell them they not doing it right. It hurts your feelings when you give everything just to be be told you doing it wrong. My job is important, you criticizing me. how you protecting me. Dogs not dumb and their behavior will change when they get older.
Not as extreme as humans, but any rational person will see it. Dogs can smell it from a mile away but they never challenge it much because they hold you in such high esteem.
