Getting a New Phone

I’ve had my iPhone X for about five years. I got it super cheap when I switched providers. It’s fallen off my couch several times, but I have (unfortunate/fortunate?) carpet so nothing happened. Only, this past weekend I was at my dad’s, and when it dropped off the recliner after it rocked when I stood, a tiny piece of the upper right screen went black. Okay, so long as that’s it. Of course, you know that’s not it. The black part is still a small amount, but it’s clear it is growing in size.
So, my BIL, while up here yesterday found me a new iPhone 13 for just a little more than what I paid for my previous phone. While my dad said he’d pay for it, I told him I’d give him $25 a month until I paid him back. It won’t even take a year.
When is the last time you got a new phone?

I'm sorry you can't get a good Android phone but have to settle for an iPhoney.
Pretty and I both got new Android phones a few months ago. (Her boyfriend paid for half of her phone.)

Androids are good, no doubt. My very first one wasn’t, but it was an early model. If I’d had a good one from the jump, I might have resisted going to an iPhone.

I LOVE calling them iPhoneys just to get a reaction out of people. (Not necessarily you, of course. As long as we can talk or text, I don't care what brand you buy.

I admire how self reliant you are and that you refused to have your dad pay for your phone without repaying. If my dad offered to pay for mine I would probably take it without hesitation.

I got my iPhone 17 pro last year around October as a birthday present for myself and also because my iPhone 11 Pro Max really needed to retire broken screen and all. I think I fixed it 5 times before making the decision that it was time to change it.

Congratulations Amber! I think 4 years ago?
Since I am going to need a new phone for mobile videography this Sunday, my sister told me that I can borrow her phone every Sunday so I don't need to buy a new one. That's so nice of her.

I get a new iPhone every year. Whenever they release a new one. I usually get the pro max. But if this year they will release the Ultra, then it's what I'm getting.

My very first smartphone was an Android, and it was refurbished. It wasn’t that great, but it was a really early model. When my phone company went to 5G they said my 4G phone would no longer work. Since my sister, BIL, and dad had iPhones (my dad just takes my sister’s old ones when she upgrades) they went ahead and got me one. I felt like they’d given me a huge gift because I’d never had something so useful in my life.

I had my phone three years ago ....it needs replacing really but it's a real.pain swapping all my apps over.

Sorry about what happened to your phone, that is frustrating. That sounds like a good plan though
I have had mine at least 2 years now...and it is still working okay

My old iPhone was still working but my oldest son decided I needed a new one so he replaced mine. It was 5-6 years old but I didn’t realize that. He didn’t want it to get to the point it wouldn’t update anymore like it did one other time. I know I needed a phone that will work and so do you, I was very thankful for the gift of a new one.

My last mobile phone broke down shortly after being in Florida and I have not had one since. I cannot take the expense and no one to call or to call me,

Looking back at my first smartphone it’s amazing how worthless it is compared to mine now. I got the first about 14 years ago to help my dad take care of my mom with her dementia. To lug her around to appointments I needed a GPS, and my car certainly wasn’t going to have one. That smartphone was actually my very first cell phone, period.
