Pretty has been riding her new ebike around running errands since I can't see to drive anymore. She's gone to the Post Office to mail government forms, gone to the Family Service Center to register for me and gave them documents explaining my hospital visit a few weeks ago. She went to our bank yesterday to make her own account so our money isn't all in my checking account (I was told the government will hold her earnings against me if her money goes into the same account my money is in.)
Now, she's talking about buying me an etrike to use around town. I told her to get the extra storage for mine and she could use it to bring back more groceries or whatever since I may not be able to see to ride it around, too. Of course, we still have my car when we need to bring back larger loads...
We'll see what happens. The etrike still sounds fun, though.

An etrike comes with a basket?

Both the ebike and the etrike can get an added basket for the front and back but the rear basket for the etrike is twice as large.

Sounds like Pretty is doing a lot for you right now, that ebike is really earning its keep. The etrike with extra storage is a smart idea, even if you end up just riding along as a passenger sometimes. Hope your eyes get better soon and you two have fun with it.

Neither one is rated or legal to carry a passenger. And Pretty would need to get a driver's license to ride the etrike. I think I'm understanding city code about that, at least.
Yes, it's all stuff we've been walking to do until now. It wasn't fun during the hottest part of the summer. She'd come in the house, climb in the shower and run it as cold as she could get it and still be panting 30 minutes later.
Thanks. I can see fine today but couldn't see well at all yesterday. It just comes and goes.

That actually sounds like a neat idea. Maybe Trump did something right inadvertently. People have had enough with this stupid oil crap and they looking for other ways to do things.

@DaddyEvil I agree and all you can do. No one arrested him for January 6th our country betrayed us after we fought so hard to be free and teach the world another way. I think we look like fools to be honest. The bad people can just go see America lies.

@crossbones27 I know. But there are people still trying to put him in jail for his part in all of that mess. That Prosecuting Attorney has been gathering evidence against him. Supposedly, he can now prove trump paid the Jan. 6th people were paid by trump to attack the police. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

I don't agree with anything trump is doing. With the curb on different monies being paid, I still don't qualify for SSDI. A lot of people with disabilities don't qualify for squat. We're just doing the best we can to live as well as we can.

@DaddyEvil Curiosity got the better of me and I just researched them, I couldn't fathom how it would look.
They have some that can go for 50-120 km per charge, that's pretty decent.
In our city they cannot be on the sidewalks, only in the bike lanes, the problem with that is the bike lanes are on streets where traffic flows at roughly 70 km/hr, which is quick when they are that close to you.
I hope that your city is slower and safer.

@Juliaacv Thanks. We don't have bike lanes here. Ebikes and etrikes are treated just like any other traffic. Pretty's ebike can go almost that fast but she's not supposed to (She doesn't have a license so would get fined if she drove that fast). The etrike could go that fast but I won't set it up so it can. (It depends on the battery you install how fast they can go. Pretty's came with the bigger battery.)

Mom rode an adult tricycle when I was still in High School. She'd ride all over town with me, just exploring. I mentioned getting me something like that and Pretty asked if I meant and etrike. So we went online and looked for one.

So let me see the ebikes are the kind that you have to charge up right? I have a bum right knee and even though most of the time it is fine at times it suddenly goes out on me so I cannot use any kind of bike or even try I could just crash,

Yes, they charge up. They can be pedaled or used entirely electric without doing more than steering them.
I'm sorry you've got a bum knee. But you could ride the etrike even with the bad knee.

If we've got it before you come over, I'll let you both try it out.
Mom, when she got older, rode a pedal adult trike all over town with us.

@Traceyjayne Honestly, I'm hoping my surgery is done before we get that far and I'm not too dizzy to drive the car. One of these days I want to take her ebike for a spin. (She gave away my regular bike because I got dizzy and crashed in the back yard.)

The e bike or trike gives you more go power so you don't have to physically work as hard? I know nothing about such things.

Thanks. With gas prices going sky high, we thought her ebike for around town was fine. Then she suggested getting the etrike for me... I may not be able to see well enough to ride it but it will be there if she needs to carry a bigger load.

What does it mean “the government will hold her earnings against me”?

The government can see how much is in my checking account as well as where it came from and where it goes. When my Social Security starts being deposited into my account, I could lose some of my benefits if they think I have more money than I really have.

Even if I was rich I would still buy discounts. I like value
