I heard gunshots.

I’ve heard fireworks on random days in the year, and briefly thought, oh, were those gunshots? But it’s 3:45am, and I swear I just heard genuine gunshots behind my apartment. I muted my TV, thinking somehow it was from that, but it wasn’t the TV. My dog also started growling, which doesn’t happen when fireworks go off. I guess I’ll hear in the morning if anything happened. Perhaps it was in the woods, or the neighborhood behind the woods. But I’ve never heard something and been so sure what it was. I think my complaint is too vague for the police: “Hello, police? Yes, I heard gunshots. It’s pitch black outside, and they could have come from anywhere, but you should really go check that out.” Well, at least it didn’t wake me up; I’ve been up for 30 minutes. EDIT: Someone did call the police, and they are behind my apartment building right now. About six of them. 2nd EDIT: I can hear them yelling at someone to “get down”. Wow, this is getting intense. 3rd EDIT: Someone is in custody.
