Will your life be better in 2009?

My income will be better in 2009 if my subbing in December is any indication. I'm going to try to make it so I have time and money this year. Every year I have time or money and in 2007 I had neither time nor money and in 2008 I wasn't much better off. But now I'm starting to have money and time. If I can have both, I will be so happy. If I have one or the other, I'm used to that. It'd better be money. Tired of being broke. Running out of savings, so hopefully $ this year. So how will your life be in 2009? Or at least what are your hopes for the coming year?

Well, 2009 is only a few days away, and I find myself unable to actually comprehend that unless someone mentions it. It's not going to be long, is it? Just a matter of hours. I have been, for the past while, been trying to get over my shyness and making my voice heard. I'm only going to get better, that's how I see it. I do get bad days, but I can get better and better. I think 2009 is going to be a good time to form a new beginning and to start over again.

I have no idea but I do hope my income will be much better, but I do not know if the other things in my life will be much better. It depends if my husband goes though fixing up the house to sell it, and then it will not be much better. If he has the house fixed so we can stay here more then it will be all right. So it is not the finances that concern me, it is everything else. So I am hoping that things do get better, but I am still up in the air if it will be that way anyway.

Well you should know by now what my hopes are for next year and that would be for me to get hired, preferably at a school and more preferably at the other elementary school where my son goes..I could get a job at K-mart or Wal mart, but now that my husband is back at work, that means I would have to work second shift, which I really really don't want to do..:(

Yes, I know your hopes. I hope you're able to get a good job and the one you want. If not the one you want, then at least one where you can learn and earn until an opportunity comes up and that you get a great recommendation. Glad your husband was able to get back to work. That's got to be a big help. Take care and I'm sure you'll keep us posted. Take care.

I hope and pray that my life will be better in the coming year. I have been out of work for the last six months of 2008. I know exactly what broke means. I have already exhausted all of my savings just to make ends meet until I am able to find another job. Thank goodness the unemployment has been extended, or I do not know what I would do. I just hope that something good comes my way, and I can start to live a relatively normal life again.

I hope so for you, too. Our state is starting to hire people for the 2010 Census. I'm taking a test for it on Monday. They've told me to bring two forms of ID and to be prepared to fill out an I9 form. So if I pass, I will probably be hired on the spot. But I think it will be mostly part-time. So find out what you can before you try for something. You wouldn't want to loose your unemployment for part time unless it pays more than your unemployment. Check out my discussion that has different links to the Census sites. In the initial discussion there is a link to the practice test. But in my responses, I had other links, too, to the Government sites. Other than that, I don't have any leads for you right now. But check back with me once or twice a month. I was told there is a serious shortage of people who teach mobility training for blind people in my state and that a person can get grants to pay for all of it. So if there is a serious shortage of something, you may be able to get retrained and get employed. We have a bad shortage of respiratory therapists and nurses right now, too. Do you have anyone helping you find work? Do you qualify for retraining and if you do, what fields have really bad shortages that are real (they always say there is a teaching shortage, but it isn't real, not in my area, trust me). I hope the next 6 months bring you a wonderful job and many opportunities. Take care and good luck.

My hopes for the coming year is that it will be a better one. Unfortunatly it can't get much better when there is no way to increase the income we have and as prices rise steadly upwards, it gets harder and harder to make it. But we can hope that in some way 2009 will be better for all of us.

Hello writersedge. I'm so glad to hear your subbing is going well. Yes, I hope that continues for you all year. Know you've been in a financial crunch so it's especially good to hear you've been working more. I'm hoping for a decent year in 09. I'm teaching one class at the local college these semester so the year is starting out VERY busy. I've hardly myLotted at all the last 6 weeks. My hope is for good health for my family members. Plus, I hope I can get my exercising momentum back up as I've had an allergy or flu bug of some sort that's lasted over 6 weeks. Uncle, already...

Teaching in a college can be very cool. Noticed you weren't around much, but I knew you were busy. Glad you had some time to drop by. Yes, people have been very sick lately, up here, too. First most people had sinus infections and then gastro-intestinal problems. My brother lost out on a lot of work because of it. Glad you're feeling better. I've been pushing myself to exercise this past week. This first week, only had that one call to sub and school was canceled. Take care and I hope all works out for both of us.

Due to the present economic downturn situation, many companies have started to retrench manpower because of cost and expenses or other reasons. It is very lucky I still can carry on my present job. I can see my income level in year2009 is almost the same. What I want to do is to increase my income from other source like Internet marketing. Currently, I participate some step by step course to upgrade my skill on this area. Hopefully, I will be well off next year.

Welcome to Mylot. One of the rules here is to try to write at least 4 sentences, phrases, questions, something when you respond. I know you can't see the future, but what do you hope for 2009?

If you start of with positive ideals about the year then you will excel in what you wish for, desire and the year will be good to you. For me I have plans of moving out, I still need a job but I have confidence that I will get a job that pays me enough to be able to support myself. I need independence, I need to live alone, so that is what I hope to achieve in 2009. If you set realistic goals to work towards everything I think will fall into place. Good luck to you!

I sure hope 2009 is a great year for you both financially and emotionally. Sometimes they go hand in hand..lol I am officially retired but will continue to work part time at my golf course job. Been there 7 years and do like what I am doing. The money is lousy but the social interaction with actual humans is great. Otherwise I am at home with a dog and cat! I did take an early retirement because of my back problems. Since I am older than my husband he let me go first to get the feel of a check each month from Social Security. He plans to work atleast another 5 years so we will be fine financially. With the economy today, he's concerned about retiring early even though his profession is not at risk. Happy New Year, carolbee

Well we got a small increase in my hubby's disability check, funny though as soon as they knew we was getting a $7. raise on the checks they dropped the food stamps almost 30 dollars. It is funny now our rent will go up again, and they wonder why you don't get ahead. They give you an increase they raise up the rent, and drop the food stamps. Some how I don't see where that is getting ahead. I dont' think on a disability check you are suppose to get ahead. Since hubby's disability check comes in my name, I always laugh at that paper they send out at the same time each year, I am to tell them how much money I am putting in savings for him. HAHAHA, there is not enough to get you through the month, where do they think that there is any for savings. But then I was told people on disability should not have cable tv or the internet we should just all go find a corner and crawl up into it and wait to die I guess.I am hoping that in 2009 I can find ways to maybe make the money stretch farther. I would give anything to find a small job to do, something to make a little extra, but they won't let me work. Yes tired of being broke. I think we all hope that the new year will bring better things to us. Let's hope this one does for everyone. Good luck in 2009 to all.

That's what's great about Mylot! Many people have many ideas, esp. the Frugal category, for stretching a dollar. See if your library has the books, Tightwad Gazettes 1, 2, and 3. Lots of ideas on how to stretch things there. Yes, I have relatives on disability. Give you a little and take away somewhere else, meanwhile, prices of everything go up. When I was a kid. My friend's parents were disabled. But he would go fishing and they had fish. The kids tended garden and they had veggies. They traded food they had for food they didn't have. So the food stamps actually made it to the end of the month for them. Getting so food stamps don't make it for very many people. Some places give extra food stamps for the Farmers' Market in the summer without taking any away. So far, our area does that for the Elderly and women on WIC only. They're adding to the fuel oil assistance this year for many people. So that's a help (not sure if they take it away somewhere else). Lots of people are finding ways to garden indoors so they can have at least something to eat. More people are donating seeds because it's a lot easier to donate seeds than food. People get more food out of a seed that becomes a plant, too. I forage wild food which helps, too. So I hope that you find more ways to stretch a dollar this year and that things go better for both of you. Take care.

I am hoping that 2009 will be better, really hoping. I have some plans set for the year, plans that I put into action in June and slowly but surely I am getting through them and setting them into action but the end result will take some years to achieve. I also have to make a lot of changes to me as a person too, I have let myself become a doormat over the years and now it is time to take something back for myself and next year is the year to make those changes. I have lots of hopes and challenges to meet I just hope that I can achieve them.
