When was the last time you crafted or made something for yourself?

I made a bunch of hats for everyone else this winter. Someone told me I should make one for myself. I started to, but someone invited another person for X-mas so that went to her. Then I was going to make one for me, but some kids in town needed hats, so I made some for them. I have started one for me, but I don't know if I'll get it done. My brother has a birthday coming up, so I need to make a pillow and some fishes for him. So when was the last time you made something for yourself?

This morning, I made my self some shorts as its so hot at the moment and I have no clothes that fit me due to the pregnancy!! I needed to do something!! I dont make alot of things but when I do I demand perfection and it normally takes too long!

Oh this is a funny question! I am a new knitter. I knitted 8 scarves for Christmas gifts this past year. I also sewed 8 aprons. But have I made MYSELF a scarf or an apron?..NO! I did just buy a piece of pretty fabric thinking it would turn into an apron for me, but have not worked on that yet.

Yeah it is kind of funny when you think about it. I like your style of response. I hope you make that apron for you. Take care.

That sounds familiar! I'm just now, after knitting for over 50 years, beginning to feel comfortable with making something for myself. At times, I buy gifts for others so I'll have time to work on my own things. Do yourself a favor and make your own hat a priority!:)

I saw that and I'm sorry you're without a job. Only 3 1/2 years... I hope you find something soon.

Me, too. I'll have to combine finishing out the month with looking for other work.

What do make your hats from, are they knitted? I make lots of things, usually to use in the house, so I suppose that qualifies as for myself. Last week I made a patchwork cushion cover, and hope to make some more soon.

A patchwork cushion cover, how wonderful! Good for you! I wish I had such talent. I use a circle knitter or circle loom, sort of knitted. I did start one that I'm kind of weaving.

I'm slow, too. Have fun looking them up. I had a discussion with a link to some and I used to, but I don't know if I still do, have a circle knitter on my profile page and some of my hats in pictures on my profile page.

I have more than enough "stuff" in my life s it is, lol! I made a bunch of scarves at xmas to sell and of course my favorites are gone but I usually set something aside for myself if I can. I rarely make something to have something for me.

Yup, crafters are givers and sellers, not keepers. Thanks and take care.

Oh, I'm a keeper, lol. That is one of the reasons I have way too much stuff in my life. Not to mention all the purchased craft supplies and reusables.

I have been doing crafts with my grandmother and my mom for as long as i can remember. The things my sisters and I made with grandma as kids always came home with us. Ever since I started getting into my own crafting everything I've made has been given to others as gifts. I did however decide to keep the first large cross stitch project I stitched and charted completely by myself. I found a cute saying on a sign that was hung in the store I was working in at the time and thought it'd be nice to have it stitched and hanging on someone's wall one day. In the beginning I wasn't necessarily making it for myself, but by the time I got it done I had put so much time, thought, and energy in it that I simply couldn't part with it. So, I decided I'd keep it and it would be the first framed piece to go on my wall when I get my own place. Everything I've made since has gone to other people, or will go to them when I'm finished with them.

Welcome to Mylot! What a lovely story. I wish one of my Grandmothers had been alive to show me and teach me things and the other one had been well enough to do so. Sometimes my Mother had patience to show me things and other times she didn't. Those times are precious and cherished, I'm sure. Lovely experience/story of your life through crafts. Thank you for sharing it. I hope you enjoy your time here. Sounds like a very, very nice stitched wall hanging. It's such a drag that people have to have 500 entries here in order to post pictures. I hope to see your finished crafts here someday.

You crochet, right? I remember you mentioning making hats and donating them. I made a stand-up, eyeglass case holder that sits on the table beside the bed. I use it all the time and love it. Always know where my glasses are if I need them. I never have a chance to sit on them or chase around the house looking for them. Another couple of items I made for "me" that are used all the time would be a toothbrush holder and matching dixie cup holder. They are small and fit on top of the bathroom vanity.

No, loom knitting/weaving, I tried crochet a couple of time, everything I make free hand looks like crap. The hats were from a loom, keeps tension better for me and things tend to at least look like their intended purpose. Glad you made the eyeglass case, that's very handy for you and very handy of you! Interesting how useful your crafts are. Everything has a place and everything in it's place. Glad you get the opportunity to create and craft for yourself as well as others. I'm still working on it. Thanks and take care.

I do not remember the last time I made something for myself. I did, however, go get my hair cut for myself, right before we left town. It helps.

I think you should make something for you. After the baby blanket of course!

The last time I made something for me was a banner and that was about 5 years ago. Unfortunately, though I made it for myself, I wanted to use it in worship services, but since I no longer have a place of worship, I just have it hanging up at home..(I did use it though at home a few months ago, but that wasn'[t what I intended it for)

That happens sometimes, I have let my place go many times, but then I also go back, clean it up and have it ready again.

I have an altar at my home for worship, but unfortunately, it got covered with books! But I started something to help me with prayer and worship-forgot all about it. Thanks for the reminder,I need to get it out from under all the books. To me, I always have a place to worship, outdoors, indoors, everywhere was made by the one who made us and everywhere is a place to praise that one. Take care.

I don't craft very often, not since I stopped being a Girl Scout Leader a couple of years ago. I have helped my kids make stuff, but I have not really made anything on my own except for Tie Dying a T-Shirt for my daughter for Halloween. The closest I have come to making something for myself in years is painting a ceramic soap dish for my bathroom.

A ceramic soap dish for the bathroom and painting it sounds like fun, so does the tye-dye t-shirt. Thanks for responding and take care.
