When enjoyment is marred by adversities.......

Life is short and it sure is meant to live it up in full vein. But if the desire or want is marred by continuous adversities enjoyment gets minimized.Who would not think of life as one persistent struggle when one's enjoyment motive is greatly disrupted by negative factors? Though enjoyment is transient do we not need our quota of enjoyments in the short span of existence available to us?

Hello my friend sukumar794 Ji, AS per my hubby, he feels happy even under adverse conditions, as he always compares and finds out someone , who is suffering more than him in thos e condition. Everyone suffers, rich and poor have similar problems, it only matters less or more. Also , there is always hope taht dawn will come. So just wait for night to go away. But when one gets oppurtunity, plaese do not miss. May God bless You and have a great time.

I suppose in that kind of adverse situation one would have to do one's best to remain positive and always look for the good side of every situation.

Our pleasure is largely measured in contrast to our pain - I think you could argue that the more you have suffered, the more you can appreciate the good things in life. A man who has been imprisoned appreciates freedom so much more, those that have lost loved one, can appreciate those family and friends who remain that much more. In contrast, those we regard as 'privileged' from birth actually are not because they cannot appreciate how fortunate they are quite as much as someone who has made their own fortune. I think that is is not wrong either to think of life as being one long struggle (which it surely is for many) or to look for pleasure where you can.

I agree. I have spent my whole life struggling to try to get peace of mind and find happiness in it. I seem to go through more turmoil than anything else though. It is very frustrating and discouraging.

Life is surely better when a person can laugh and smile. I feel like an example of what you are talking about. Since my separation I have decided that I am going to go in a new direction as an independent woman. I am excited about the future and the what it holds for me. However right now my joy for the future is tainted because I cam caught in a web of inability to move. For several reasons I can't seem to move because the details I need to get done never seem to get near enough to do. So, I am still in limbo which does impede on my joy thanks to my adversities.

I do not deny that life is full of adversities and one may be derailed from the vast enjoyments one can actually enjoy if there were no adversities. I try to imagine a smooth sailing life without any adversity. Would I be better off or happier? I doubt so. I might end up idling my life away. With adversity, at least there is opportunity, no matter how small. We need challenges, adversities and opportunities to make our life a colourful one.

Even in all of the hard times we must remember there are others having it far worse than we. Being happy is a choice and I myself have struggled with that over the past few weeks. We are dealing with a great deal of turmoil in our community due to some power hungry officials in control of our city. And beyond it all we have to find a way to be happy and not let it get us down. It is only a matter of time before these people can be removed from office and the city may return to normal. Of course there will be pieces to pick up because these people are on a roll and have hatred in their hearts. But good will prevail. Always remember, if God brings you to it He will lead you through it.

basically we can't change things that we can control but we can change how we react to them life is short so live it to the fullest don't let people ruin your day or don't make small annoyances big you can always ignore them or lash out if necessary so you don't keep anger inside

I know. Sometimes when things are going well I brace myself for the next problem to arise which of course is a sure way to ensure that it will! I have come to the conclusion that life is a series of obstacles and perhaps the idea is to detach ourselves and let go of results and try to see the good around us whenever possible. I know it is easier said than done because whenever we feel pain, it is very real but letting it move through us may be the only way to get through to the other side.

I've ofter wondered the same thing myself. Perhaps without the adversities we wouldn't get as much happiness and pleasure out of the good times? I'd certainly like to do without the adversities for a while to test that theory, wouldn't you?

I agree that life is short. I also know that without the adversities of this life that we would not find as much satisfaction in the preasures and accomplishments of this life. I have also found over the years that if you do not learn the lesson you need from these adversities then you will simply repeat them until you learn what you need to. God gave us free will to make the same mistakes over and over or learn from them and move on. You cannot let the negative take over in your mind. How do you know what your "quota of enjoyments" is meant to be in this life? It is my belief that only God knows what you agreed to in this life. Life is before you do not dwell on the past.
