Well it seemed it was my turn at a major appliance breaking down etc. LMidweek my fridge died on me. It had happened prior but started to work again after awhile. Turns out the compressor was fried. It started kicking out hot air inside instead of cold. So we went to the nearby Sears Outlet Store near us. They sell new appliances for a great discount as they are either returns, defective, or scratched and or dented. Mine has a slight imperfection on the finish of the freezer door. We got this fridge for about 35% off the regular price of the same model flawless. We have also bought a washing machine and dryer there so far in the past 6 years. Do you shop at Outlet STores for major things such as this? What was the itme you purchasede? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I wish we had a Sears outlet near here. When I come to Minnesota again we will have to bring our truck. I have some woodworking tools I am giving the kids. I did buy my current stove as a return, from Sears. Someone had bought it, then decided they did not like the features on it, and returned it. We also had great savings from that little purchase.

Hi GrandpaBob. I have the same fridge, I bought it 2 years ago. We don't have a Sears outlet store here, but if we did I would definitely would have purchased it there. Like another of the responders said it is quite noisy but it serves it purpose. I am satisfied with it. When I purchased it, I charged it on my Sears card and had so many months to pay it off before the interest started. I paid it off in time Thank God because a couple of months later I was unemployed. Enjoy your new appliance.

Chevee, how are you doing? I seldom see you. Any job news? I like the things I get from Sears. I like having the credit cards paid off, as well.

Well, this also was charged on the same card as our $3300 car repair bill so it hurts deeply. The car bill has been paid off as we borrowed the cash from my dad to cover that so there wouldn't be that huge interest. We copuldn'y very well ask for another grand or so from him. This is like a new toy and there's nothing to play with. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hi GardenGetty,, I am doing fine, no I haven't any Job news I am still drawing unemployment benefits. I live in a very small town and jobs are just not plentiful. the jobs that were here closed and went overseas. I am looking for something that will fit into my qualifications and ability. I am here on MyLot everyday I don't respond that much just observing, for some reason I just don't have to much to say. I am wondering if I am in a state of depression. That last statement (depression) I am not claiming because I know I am truly blessed by God. I have made it one full year without employment and came through with all God's blessings. I have been giving most of my time to studying the word of God. Thanks for being concerned, it makes a person feels good.

Hello Grandpa, how are you doing? Of course, we have bought items before from Sears Outlet Store. It was a long time ago that we bought something from their store, which was washier and dryer. The last appliance we bought was a washier from Lowe's around October 2009. Did they deliver your refrigerator and take the old one away? It's always nice when they do that. How is your refrigerator working? Hopefully all is well now.

They delivered it but not free of charge. I also tipped them $10 for the work they did as they took the fridge doors off in the driveway so it would fit through the stairs of the front deck as they are smaller than a standard door opening. And it was like -5 at the time. I gave the old fridge to my wifes boss Saturday afternoon. It's working great as well. Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Good for you!! On top of the car, you've had a very expensive new year!! The last few years we were married, my husband and I needed a new fridge. I had a job at the time--rare, because we both agreed that I should be home with the boys, bless his heart--but it went out and he ordered what he thought I would want. My ex never considered "seconds", he's all about the money and prestige. Our fridge needed replacing ASAP so I cut him some slack but I'd rather lose $100 of food than pay $300 more than I had to. I have a fridge that dates back to 2000, at least. I expect to have to buy one in the next five years. I'll shop the outlet stores!!! The couple days' worth of food I lose will probably be about 10% of what I lose in the fridge/freezer.

Oh I am not cheap neither am I a spendy type. As long as the brand name item is cheaper that retail I will get it. The whole year has been a costly one in more ways than financially. Just the stress and all. Thankfully I am sober and have my H.P.to pray to, otherwise I'd have been a terrible drunk this whole year. I think ost fridges have a life expectancy of 10 years or so. Ours was here 6 years ago when we bought the hopuse and was at least 5 years old then I think. Now I had problems with the furnace when I got home tonight (Sunday). So that's the next exspnse to look forward to. Nothing major that I can figure out. A discussion on this episode due Monday maybe. Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I just want to know why the heck you even need one where you are? Surely until at least March or April you can put everything you want frozen outside and everything you want refrigerated in the car trunk or the garage?

Well, I live near a Nature Center, and there's way too many critters that would steal the food. They've been known to even open garbage cans to get thrown out food scraps etc. So for now, I'll use the fridge. Maybe if I lived up North I'd get a huge dog and store food in the pole barn etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I always shop at 'dent and ding' stores for major appliances. For a fraction of the price of what you would have spent in a store you can usually get an even better model than you would have. I do like picking them out myself and looking carefully at them. A major imperfection where it shows for something that's displayed in the kitchen wouldn't make me very happy. But a lot of the time the flaws are on the sides where they won't even be seen once they are in place. Some of the stores also resell repos, so you have to be careful. At a Sears outlet when my son and I were shopping for refrigerators, there was one on display complete with the food that was in it when it was reposessed. Of course it hadn't been running for a week or two. That's when you see the difference between men and women. All the male sales staff were, "Gross, hey Mike come see....". The female sales staff stayed well away, more than happy to take our word for it.

Wew've also bought brand new things at auictions. But we haven't been to one in years. Our Lazy Boy recliner, our bedroom set, our living room furniture, the end tables in the living room, those were all bought at auctions brand new for the house as well 6 years ago. Got great deals on them as well. The flaw on thew finish is hard to see staright on. You have to stand at the side of the fridge and look real hard to see it. SO it looks great actually for an imperfection. Sears sells returned items and I avpoid looking at them myself. I look only at the factory seconds etc. Sometimes the scratched/dented ones. As long as the dents are not too visible, like in the back of the item, or at the very botoom. Yuck, I can't believe they left the food in it. Grossness to the extreme I say. Yes, I do. Well we dont call them outlet stores. When my ex and I separated, he took the washing machine and fridge, both major items. I went to a second hand shop and bought both items there. The fridge cost me $200, and the washing machine $300. These items can cost anywhere from $600 to $2000 brand new. They are both working well. I may be looking for bookshelves soon, and I will get themn sdecond hand too.

Wow, 35% off is a GREAT deal! Who cares aout a slight imperfection on the freezer door. As long as it works well, who cares? I really wish we had a place like that near our home, I would certainly take advantage of it when major appliances break down or die. Heck, just put a magnet over the imperfection! We have several refridgerator maganets on our fridge that we use to put up appointment cards, recipes, grocery lists etc.

OK This is the SIXTH Time I try to send this response. I nearly get finished then loose it. Grrrr No wonder response are getting scarce!!! Anyway as I was saying I have always bought my appliances from Sears and have always been very happy. I especially miss my self cleaning/convection oven stove. It had to go with the house when we sold the house. The last appliance I bought was when I moved here, we're allowed a dryer as long as it's a 110 volt and we can have full size washers. I bought a 110 apartment dryer, very pleased with that little dryer and I bought a full size washer (front loading) and again I am very pleased. The stove, dishwasher and fridge that is in the apartment are not Sears and I sure can tell you it's all junk. They buy cheap appliances and that's what they are. My number one choice will always be Sears, but living here you get what you get. I had to copy and paste but wa la here's my response. Long winded like me. hahahaha

I hate the blank screen syndrome here. Other sites I visit, that doesn't happen like here. Anyhow, as far as filling it, I am going shopping latewr tonight to get foods for it. My stove is self cleaning, I clean it myself. HAH! I've always liked Kenmore products which is sold at Sears specifically. Great products. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I didn't know Sears had an Outlet store - I've seen Kenmore at a scratch & dent place here in town, but its not a Sears store (can't use credit card there.) Sorry to hear about your fridge, mine is freezing everything!

Yeah it's a regualr Sears store but only with returns and or factory defective equipment. The appliances all come with a warranty as well. The fridge has a one year warranty so that's just as if we bought it at the regular store as opposed to the outlet. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Bummer. We also have an Appliance Smart near us which is basically the same principle. There are also Petters Appliance which is decently priced NEW appliances. But I've always liked Kenmore so off to Sears I went. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I have not bought anything at sears outlet as I was looking @ stoves and folks told me to buy w/ caution on an appliance such as that listed as "reconditioned" So we are still waiting on the range, the burners still work & we have other means of getting by til tax refund comes in. I just hate to keep putting stuff on the credit card & watching that bill go up & up.

hi Grandpa Bob that was a really great deal. we had to leave our fridge behind when we were evicted as it quit too.so if and when my son gets a job again and we get into an apartment we will have to look into a sears outlet store too. this sounds like a really good deal and a little flaw in the finish some place will not hurt the working parts of it. Just wish my son would hurry and get that job.

I havent shopped at outlet stores for large purchases - some clothing and stuff but not appliances. My parents bought a treadmill at one...the Sears one actually and it had a dent in one of the rails. Very nice fridge!

As far as I know the only thing we can get like that in England is Ex catalogue returns and then you have to but like a box of things and you have no idea what is in it! Its not really worth doing unless you can sell it on ebay, you need time, patience and energy though! I wish we did have things like this

Hello there, I am not from the country where you live but it is nice to see discount stores like that. I would be happy too if i can purchase something as low as that. I know sooner or later my fridge will die on me soon. For last september our city was flooded and almost all of the appliances got wet. Still lucky to see after we let the fridge dry for 3 weeks is still working. But I would like to buy something with 3% off the regular price.
