needing witches brew

Hello fellow coven members, Sadly I have fallen victim to an insidious disease, Winter Olympic zombie-itis. The TV networks have declared Prime Time to be sacred, therefore any broadcasts cannot start before 7 PM or end before 11 PM, and many end a lot later. What's a skating junkie to do? Stay up until 11, 11:30, 12, etc., wake up the next morning for work, and turn, slowly but surely, into a zombie. Any brew recipes or spells that you might be aware of that will help cure this dreaded disease would be most appreciated. Note: this condition is especially dangerous on figure skating nights. Thanks...

I advice you to unplug the t.v. for that time of the day, or night if you prefer, and go to sleep early. You can always see the results on the internet in the morning, but you can't regain your sleeping hours if you were to stay up all night. Good luck, and sweet dreams!!! xD

hi dawn oh my g i am missing the figure skating part and thats what I love most of the Winter Olympics, can I get this anywhere on my computer? half the time the big tvs down stair are overtaken by people who are into anything else but the olympics. here I am missing the best part of the olympics. I remember I used to stay up so late I could hardly keep my eyes open just to see the figure skating. I am going to check in to see if I can see anything on the skating part of the olympics on my computer. drink a lot of black hot coffee, it will keep you awake.

If you go here: http://www.nbcolympics.com/ you can see video on a lot of what you missed. I'm sure a lot of it gets put up on youtube also. Ice Network has online coverage too, but I think it's not free... Coffee eats holes in my stomach.

Hiya Hatley, Did you get to see any of the Winter Olympics of this year? Are you like me and you like watching most of them with one or two or maybe five or half a dozen favourites? I told you to keep wishing for that Television to be right there where you are now. Take care now and happy viewing if not look for the Skaters on youtube there will be loads of them uploaded by now I imagine.

Hiya dawn, Unpluggeth ye the Evil electric Box no need for that putteth ye the Dvr to record when the Skating is on and look at it much later on sayeth me on the morrow. Yea tis much more exciting to watch what ye might think ye hath missed yea therefore tis big surprise like watching who won the Pairs Ice Skating Yesterday twas more of a surprise to me I telleth the the truth. Looketh me out for the American and Russian Pairs but alas the transmission time was very short and me couldeth only watch the end bit of it. Yes but it was worth watching. Thats the only remedy I have is the one they have already got made they only transmit the end bits of everything. Bit like sitting down to watch a Film and in about ten minutes you´ve got settled it puts The End. On rare occasions they will put a Film on time exactly how it says on the Teletext but you can never rely on it to be exactly on time. Like I said the end bits are the best bits but also the middle bits they show you on another Channel which you have to go looking for and I don´t have the time any day of the week it´s just potluck. Anyway I watched the recorded end bit of the pairs yesterday and I thought that they were all good it´s just the enormous unfair pressure they put on them that puts a spanner in the works. Chinese Couple that won I have not seen them skate for four years or more and they have come up much better in expression this time now they have nailed it much better than before. Canadians were good too just the pressure got to them even to the Russians. I missed not seeing Julia Obertas and whoever her partner now is because I know she had problems finding the right Skating Partner because of her height. Think that she must have turned professional a really talented Girl indeed. I also feel that the Chinese Girl with the Russian Partner is much more capable of doing more but there was real pressure on her to do well and that´s what spoiled them sorry if I have it wrong as her name is Yoko bit confusing that however they said that she was Chinese Nationality so I take their word for it they make a good couple. Every so often I do a bit of research into whats happening. Will Sash Cohen be skating in the Ladies on Friday as she is very talented too. Time is my big thing here as I cannot be on here very much. Hope you enjoy the rest of it too. I have recorded some snowboarding which I like and skiing too but will watch in spare time who knows when that will be. Good viewing.

The young lady you are thinking of is Japanese. Last year their short program at worlds was so beautiful I about cried. They had problems this year, but I think they will be really strong the next four years. No, Sasha Cohen won't be there, she didn't qualify. Neither did my favorite, Alyssa Czisny. :-( Turning the beast off just isn't an option.

Hiya Dawn, Have been watching about 10 minutes of the last but one group of the Mens Short Program and Plushenko was really going away there. He has however got it a bit difficult I think because the Japanese Boy is very close behind him almost equals him in points too. However I liked Plushenko and I thought Stephan Lambiel was very good and another one who skated near to the end a very good program that has taken everyone by surprise. Actually I like watching most of them they are very brave to have got that far. All that effort day after day training and it get´s blown in three minutes and a bit. Will miss not seeing Sasha Cohen I don´t know the other one yet I will try and find her when I can. What has happened to the American Male Skaters apart from Alan Weir whom I have´nt seen yet? Have´nt heard of him before either but he must be good to get into the last group. I don´t know if Plushenko will win but one thing is certain that it will be one heck of a ding donger Final to watch. I just hope they don´t put it on really late here I mean but it will be because the time gap is considerable. All will be known tomorrow can you wait till then? I can I sit back a while on my own and savour those moments. How I wish I could get British Eurosport I love listening to Chris Howarth and Simon Reed have not heard them for ten years which is a long story but never mind at least I can watch it albeit in Spanish. Take care now.

3 tea spoons of espresso coffee, 3 spoons of sugar, espresso coffee maker. Make a coffee add some sugar and maybe heavy cream on the top. It is very heavy, but does the job.

Apart from a hefty dose of will power, which I already know will not be acceptable, I can only suggest that you go to bed early and set the alarm for midnight or whenever the ice skating is on. Broken sleep is better than no sleep. Alternatively you could try explaining your addiction to your boss and pleading for sick leave? No, I guess not . . .

Actually the skating is generally somewhere between 7 PM and midnight, so any naps are going to have to happen earlier. But that usually falls around dinner time and the hungry hordes will let me sleep some days, but not 16 days straight! And nope, will power isn't going to work here. :-)

Well, you just know I was going to be "here". But you are in good company with all the skating junkies (you should see my Facebook news feed - all my skating friends are fuming about the time)! Sorry, there is no cure for Winter Olympic zombie-itis . . . you have to get your "live" fix and know that is was indeed worth having this dreaded disease! I'm already a zombie as I have a baby here - so hey, maybe have a wee one because you will be up anyway - hee hee!!

I guess I got lucky. None of my kids were babies during a winter Olympics. Timing is everything! Still, during 2002 I was on call the first week and I did get calls at like 1 AM, 2 AM, after having just gone to sleep at midnight or whatever. Oh well...

Hmm, Prime Time is sacred here too. Which means that you get Winter Olympics prime time, as there is nothing more sacred than the Winter Olympics :-) I'm not sure what spell would work, maybe you need one to send you to Norway for the duration of the games. But if you had one like that, you could just as well go to Canada to see everything live. So what you need is a spell to turn the ones who decide what to send when on TV into Norwegians ...

I had a very similar condition when the Australian Open was on here. I walked around every day like “lights are on but there’s nobody home” but it was worth it. I agree you can’t tape it and watch it later; it’s just not the same. I’m afraid the only cure is abstinence and if you are not willing to do that, the only thing I can suggest is lots of coffee, tape for the eyelids and you may consider talking the odd day off sick...
