oh my we breezed through July complaining its ninety outside shame on us this week the kids are going back to school and its scorching outside. My friend at the next table said its hotter than a fire cracker. So here in Southern California' we did not escape after all that pesky tropical heat wave. Your take on this summer in fall weather where you are?.

Hi Mrs. Hatley! Oh my that does sound very hot and humid. Yes here too it is very hot and humid although not as high temperature as yours. While I was in Arkansas last month for 2 1/2 weeks each and every day it was 112 degrees. We actually came home one week earlier then anticipated as the weather was too hot to bare. The rivers and lakes felt like saunas and with the weather being so hot it was too difficult to be outdoors. As for here the Air conditioning is running, and oh my the electric bill is going to be through the roof once again this month, it seems. I wonder if fall will cool off but then we did have a very late start summer. So perhaps the heat will be around for a while yet. Do stay cool!

Ours has been through the roof also. Bought a new unit today for air and heat. Hope that does the trick!

hi HwG amd stephcjh oh I am just so glad that I don't have to pay the power bill for Gold Crest although as they charge us on Social security and ssi 1000 a month those who are wealthier are paying 1400 a month so I think they can handle the power bill okay. They do cut corners on food here a bit too so I believe they are not suffering. It was so hot downstairs yesterday and they too until after dinner to get our money out to us. then my friend nelda picked me up to go to the bank.just that maybe an hour or so out in the heat and I was exhausted when I got backup here. Stephcjh that new unit should really help you. here I hear that only a few rooms have their own air conditioner so this time I lucked out. wow.Its humid here and its one time the breeze from the Pacific is just hot and sticky.

We have had the wackiest weather this year. It has been so hot but right now instead of it being 80 or 90 something it has been in the 50's for 2 days with rain and high winds. This is because of a low pressure thing coming from the north and the bands coming from a hurricane off the southern coast. But it has been crazy. Hot so hot when it wasn't suppose to be and cold when it shouldn't be too. I'm happy as long as I can either cool off or stay warm. We just got over having it in the 100's and it was just too hit then. So I feel what you are going through.

I don't remember how it was each month here I can say we had weeks of well over 100 degrees weather. Way too hot for me and apparently my air conditioner too because it wouldn't cool the house the thermostat kept being 10 degrees higher than it was set on. We did have some really hot nights too where it didn't cool down more than in the 80's and 90's. It was just too hot. We've also had some cooler nights but not many. Now this 50's degree stuff. We have had weather that we have not had in over 20 years too.

hi moondancer grrrrrrr just lost my whole comment and I had forgot to copy. okay ours was weird too as we had more rain in Nov. DEC and Jan than in twenty years before. our water tables they claim are full now. we did finally get normal June gloom in the mornings then sun out in afternoos and temp in low 70s which was normal.July continued morning gloom but in the 80s,Aug in the 90s now one hundred degree weather and no rain at all.the heat really got to me yesterday as it was humid and sticky.

Southern cali. At least you dont have to deal with the humidity. Neither do i. Im in Colorado. Its been in the nineties here too. A couple of times reachin 100's. But the last few days its cooled down. Yesterday drizzled all day didnt even get to the 70's. Everyone was wearing jackets. Its expected to be in the high 70's and low 80's the rest of the week. Im originally from iowa. It was so humid there i used to carry around a wash cloth to wipe he sweat away. And i wear glasses. Thats not pleasant in a humid area either. They keep slipping down your nose.

hi jdyrj thats whats so unusual about this hot weather no breeze and its sticky like hot off a creek or something.usually we have hot dry heat which is not so hard on one. there's not a breeze anywhere here which again is really different. I am hoping next week we have a bit lower temps and some breeze again.

hi ravisivan the weather forecasts says this weather will stick around this week so in all probability next week we will see more moderate temperatures. the humidity yesterday had me huffing and puffing but I am better today. lol 60 degrees sounds Great . I have never been to Detroit but I remember my dad when I was in my teens driving to Detroit to buy a new car off the assembly line. the only thing was that was a Plymouth and it had something wrong with the brake line so the car would stall on the most inappropriate places like a hill side road.

It is actually quite chilly now where I live. But I learned this idea when it is really hot. It is in a way to force wind through your home. It is the same idea, where when you close a door in a room, with an open window, you feel the whole beneath the door and you feel a cool slight breeze. Basically the Idea is to have two windows open at opposite ends, if possible, this creates a flow pressure for air to come in and escape at a higher velocity. You can experiment by opening one window in you car, while not moving, then open two windows, if there is a slight breeze in the air, you'll notice that there are more air flow through your car when there are two windows open. Now try 4 windows, even more air. But now you're like well this is common sense. But no. Now try 3 windows, 2 windows open opposite side of you, and 1 window where you sit, this 3 window opened makes more air come out through the window closest to you, making you feel cooler than all 4 windows. Hopefully that made sense. ha ha. Good Luck!

hi way2 vision that does make sense. when I was on our farm when I was growing up we had a blower in the basement that blew hot air through the house in winter and we used it as a basement fan to blow the cool air up through the house . it really did work. there in South Dakota hot days brought electric storms and hard rains that left us with nice cool evenings so we could sort of recuperate from the hot days. here the evenings are cooler but not very . lol

Hello Hatley. Here in Florida the weather is hot most of the time, but what I love of this weather is that frequently rain and it makes the temperatures go down. Actually is very annoying to be out for a long time because of the temperatures some weeks ago I was outside and felt like a candle melting in fire. But now with all the storms is raining more so it makes the weather be more comfortable.

hi Cher Ialways think cold when they mention Ontario but of course you do have summers. I was raised in South Dakota where it often had frost by September the hot days there were in July but the nights were really cool. this humid heat is unusal for us really , usually it's dry heat coming in from the desert but this is humid and tiring too.

Hi, Hatley. It has been in the 50s this morning as I took my daughter to her bus stop to catch her bus. It has been cold last night and earlier this morning. The sun is shining brightly now, but the air is still cool and crisp. Now, later on this afternoon it will be in the late 80s, once again. Yesterday it was hot and I still felt a cool breeze too. So, this weather is just going in and out. I know that California is usually very hot during the summers! I hope that you will feel some cooling relief very soon. This summer we had our Central Air on auto and it was so hot outside. It was about 103 degrees and it felt like we did not have any air turned on while we was inside of our mobile home. That is the hot season for ya!

We have just started our spring season here in Australia and today the weather is perfect, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and the temperature is around 20 degrees Celsius which is pretty perfect! We are heading for summer and although it’s difficult to imagine right now it is going to get pretty hot! I so prefer summer to winter but no doubt I too will complain about the heat!

I'm jealous of anyone not in Arizona right now! its consistently been over 109 all summer, except for maybe a week [not consecutively, one cooler day per week seemed like] of 99-100 degree days. I'm just glad my air conditioner hasn't overheated or broken! and i hope it continues b/c I don't expect to see cooler weather in Phx until maybe November? I like the warmth, thats why I left the midwest & the snow, but this is absurd!!

My roomie will probably want the heater. no matter how hot is is outside the woman is still cold. all week she hugged her heating pad and it was in the 100s. I think the differecnec from last year was the humidity. its usually hot but not humid just a dry heat and we always had breezes that helped cool down,.this week it was hot, humid and breathless too so now they say we ha ve cooler weather coming which makes me happier.

hi zandi I have met so many from tropical places that have lovely tan skin and are very pretty yet they want to get white. God made us why mess with how he did it. I think we all look the prettiest in the skin color we were born in myself. Whey not be proud of your race as its part of you? For one thing I have read that Tropical climate people really need that tan to protect the skin from the hot rays of that really hot weather. I am a bit too pale as I have anemia but I take iron for it so I am getting a bit more color in my cheeks. I am an American living in Southern Ca and most of the time I used to have a lovely tan but its worn off as I have been sort of disabled a bit and not out in the sun as much as I should be.

It sounds very uncomfortable where you are, but here in the south of the UK it seems as if we are already drifting into winter. We sometimes get an "Indian Summer" as it is called, but it has failed to come this year. So in a way your weather sounds very attractive, but being there experiencing it, is a different matter. Strange sometimes, we always seem to want what is not there, until we get it! _Derek

Well, I gave you a very detailed report of our weather here in Ohio and forgot to copy it--I wish I had because once I hit "submit" I was told myLot is undergoing maintenance and will return shortly. I lost the whole thing!! Long story short, it was very hot in August and last Friday it got up to 99°! But after a high of 96° on Saturday it cooled off rapidly and our high today, at 4:30PM is now 62°! I could use it a bit warmer and it's raining all day so I'd like some sunshine but I'm not complaining. I like it chilly! Oh, the whining that's been going on here! All summer the TV weather people moaned about the heat, the rain, etc. Now they are griping about how cold it is. Wait till winter, non-stop whining!! Nobody is every satisfied with the weather here, it seems, but for me it is perfect whatever it is. I hope you cool off there a little!

August here was in the high eighties and low nineties with s ome cooling breezes but the last two or three days its just stagnant like a cloud of hot humid air is sitting over us. low. we do always complain not matter what the weather and really what can we do about it except turn on fans or air conditioners lol.

Hi Hatley, pity to hear that your area seems really very hot now. As for my area here, it is not as hot as in the month of July and August. Now, seems like the weather in my area had changed quite a lot because for most of the days, it will rained for a few hours. Although it is not heavy rain but at least it had cools down the temperature a little. At least, i can let my air conditioner rest now and even my electricity bill won't be as high as previous months...

Hi Hatley, Every year at this season, the heat wave always attack some part of the world. I am lucky that here in Malaysia, most of the time the highest temperature outside the house can reach is around 92°F. So, it is still not too bad as compared to some of the places where the temperature can goes as high as 99°F or sometime higher. When the heat wave came, I can see that the shopping complex will be full of people, not because they want to buy things but they just want to get the cool air inside the shopping complex.
