Hi mylotters. I could not believe it when I opened my front door this morning. there must have been a foot of snow on my front porch already where there had only been a trace of snow when i went to bed last night. This has been my areas first big brush with snowfall. How do you handle tremendous snowfall in your area when it comes? If you don't live in a snowy area, do you miss having it?

I basically drudge through it. When I was working I had no choice but to get through it. I did have to clean off my car. But mostly I would shovel the snow away from the front door when I had the time to do it. I am not a fan of the snow, but being where I live, I have no choice but to deal with it.

We all have to do what we must do to get through life. With some things it is just harder to smile about than others. I hope you do not have to have too many of the drudging moments this year.

Well, with the weather being as good as it has been, maybe I won't have to deal with to much snow. I can only hope.

It snows around here, but right now, we haven't been slammed with it like other places. I used to not care to much for the snow, but now I have gotten used to it. So much now that it no longer bothers me, nor do it slow me down. I just conquer it. Last year, we had several snow storms and the streets weren't being cleared out so I was always outside helping people push out stuck cars and trucks that were stuck. I didn't have a problem with helping push out stuck cars, but I had gotten bigger and stronger, so I was also pushing out bigger vehicles, like trucks and SUVs. People think I'm some type of monster for pushing trucks by myself (for some reason people rarely help push a truck), but I find it kind of fun wrestling with them. I'm big enough to find this fun. Being strong made snow shoveling a breeze. My family has a snow blower and sometimes neighbors help out, but as soon as the muscles stop by (me), I found myself doing the shoveling. I have too much energy and strength for my own good.

Conquering the snow doesn't bother me. I actually do enjoy it. I did receive a nickname from my co-workers of being a polar bear because I was always outside and it didn't bother me. Other people would be dressed like eskimos and freeze, and freak out because I wouldn't dress as heavily and walk in tennis shoes. Maybe it's because I am a big boy, and I have a lot of muscle on me is why I can handle the snow better. It is certainly the reason why I like wrestling with cars and trucks stuck in the snow. I'm not normal. It's being a good samaritan, getting my workout, and boosting the ego all at the same time. About the snow shoveling, my family only use the snow blower when I am not around because I clear more than it at the same time (this was proven). Oh did I mention I ride a bike through it as well? There has to be a beast of a storm to tame this beast.

Conquering the snow is often easier said than done. it looks like you have the snow in your world well in hand. Every now and then the snow can surprise. What we may not hink of doing in the snow may often be the most fun we have had. I do hope you get enjoyment from the snow and not a calamity instead.

I live in a snowy area. I like to watch snow, when I'm sitting in my warm house. I also, even though I'm 35, still like to play in the snow. I use snowy days to read or catch up on work, as I don't much go out during the heaviest snow.

I don't believe that you are ever too old to enjoy the snow. it is what you do with your time with it that can make you love or hate it. i hope you get to enjoy many days with your snow activities and don't get too many snowstorms your way.

In a word , Badly. In my area we panic when an inch is forecast . A couple years ago we got a huge snow and the area was closed down for a week. Buses had to change routes because the smaller streets were not plowed. It was a mess.I hope the sun comes out and melts that snow! Hang in there.

When an area isn't usually hit hard with snow, it can be exasperating when you feel like it will never stop snowing. Snowplows just can't keep up when the weather just continues to bring more snow. Eventually it will pass and spring eill be here once again.

We get snow most winters, and it makes the roads impassable very quickly. When that happens, we just wrap up warm and wait for it to thaw!

I don't like snowy winter roads but i guess it has to come with the territory. It is the waiting it out that can make time seem to stand still. thank you for your response.

We had two or three days where it did snow but that was weeks ago now. Our skiing area has lost 1.6 million dollars this year due to no snow. We have had rain and higher than usual weather in the 40's and 50's lately. I don't care for the snow. Glad we aren't getting much so far.

It started snowing where i live last night and it has snot stopped. it is still snowing right now. I wish that it would taper off just a little. I don't know why we have to go from no snow to a total blowout. Your skiing area could benefit from what i have just had. thanks for sharing.

Go make a snowman! While we don't have snow all the time here, we're used to it. A foot would be a good snowfall, but life would go on pretty much as usual. Do you have a snow shovel? Shovel out your doorway and sidewalk and your car if you need to. Your city probably has snow removal equipment if you live in a city, and they will clear the streets; at least they will clear the main streets. Traffic will beat down the rest of them.

That is a different view on the snowy world. Attitude has a lot to do with how we perceive the conditions around us. Like you say, why not make a snowman? Thank you for the genuine response.

If snow and ice are predicted, the city and county apply a brine solution to the main roads. I put ice melt on the walks and steps to make them easy to clear. I do not mind the snow and being out in it.

Sometimes i think the roads looks better than most driveways when the snow and ice appear. I am glad that you are taking care and don't mind the weather conditions too much.

We are supposed to have alot of snow but we haven't so far this year....two slight dustings and that is it....normally by this time we have more then a foot. I have someone that comes and blows me out....I do a bit of the shoveling but they do the rest. We didn't even have any snow for Christmas this year! Last night was the first time we got an amount you could measure!

I guess that you could say that you have been very lucky with your snowfall so far. i could go for just a dusting right now and it would not hurt my feelings at all. We did not have any snow for christmas either. That was a little disappointing since my niece and nephew got new sleds for christmas and no snow to ride them on. Now we have plenty for them.

It has never snowed in my city or state and probably never will unless something very drastic happens like a shift in the earth`s axis. Frankly not having ever experienced snow i don`t miss it and am thankful to God that it doesn`t snow here.I know what difficulties people face when it snows. If i ever wanted to enjoy snow then i could go to the northern part of the country which experiences heavy snowfall during winter. In fact many tourists do go there to enjoy the snow as well as to take part in skiing and other winter games.Only a small fraction of my country has snowfall otherwise most of it does not experience snow.

I'm so happy that there has been very little to no snow in the area where I live this year. Most times by this time of the year, there is snow almost up to the windows by this point. So I am rather going to be rather pleased about this sudden change of the weather. It is really just going to really put a bit of a smile on my face, the lack of snow. Hopefully this will be a year where the snow was going to be light. Last winter was a really bad one. There was a day or two where the entire town grounded to pretty much a halt. Still I just have to sigh and start digging, start blowing, and hope that I can get the drive way moderately cleared. Providing that there is no ice on the driveway obviously. Still no snow but as I say this, I've just doomed the entire city.

I hope that your lack of snow will hold out for you so that you can get in and out of your driveway. As for dooming the city, the snow has to come sooner or later. Take care and thanks for responding.

Without snow you just don't know what you are missing. some people look forward to the winter weather with the cold and snow for their outdoor recreation. some people just want to shut the door and wait for the winter to end. I often find myself somewhere in the middle.

I live in the mountain, I love snow. I like to drive with the street full of snow. I see the snow since I was born and so I'm not afraid of it. If it snows and I have to go somewhere I try to freed my house path and to drive out my car. If I'm not able I go by foot if it's not far or I stay at home.

I guess that it is all about your environment for what you admire or fear. Not many people will give their great desire for the snow. Once you are used to something it is just second nature to you.

Well I live in a semi arid zone so no chance of snow fall. but i have done my schooling from an institution which is located in the lower himalayan ranges. Snowfall was common there but it was restricted to 3 months only. I loved it pretty much though. But the only problem i use too face is tha t once the breeze starts to blow and when the snow starts to melt, its dammm cold out there.....

It sems that you have seen snow by both sides. You dont realize what you have sometimes until you have to view it from a different perspective. Two things that cn change your life are the cold and snow. i hope you have recovered from your experiences.

We don't have any snowfall here in the Philippines as this is a tropical country. However, a lot of my countrymen would want to have snow here as it appears to be fun and an entirely new experience. I, on the other hand, doesn't want snow to fall here as it will produce more harm than good in my opinion.

Sometimes I would love to live somewhere more tropical but the novelty of that would probably wear off soon. When you don't have something, you just miss the experience.

Last year and the year before that we had a lot of snow in my country. Driving was very difficult and we got stuck in the snow several times. We never left the house without shovels, blankets, food and drinks, but the situation was worse than we expected. One time we simply couldn't move the car, and we didn't know what to do because, it was a desolate area and there was no one that we could ask for help. Suddenly a man showed up, I have no idea where he came from because there were no houses in the area, but he carried a shovel in his hands and he immediately started helping us. Because of him we managed to get the car out of the snow. I don't know what we should have done without him

Thank you for sharing your experience. i guess you can never be too prepared when the snow comes your way. I am glad that there are still some people in this world who will give a helping hand to a stranger. it was so nice of him to help you when he did not have an obligation to. Sometimes i think that the harrowing weather can bring out the best in a person even if the conditions are untolerable.

Wow...we have yet to have our first snow yet. We have usually had a couple by now but it has been unseasonably warn here. I am hoping that January will not bring horrible weather because November and December have been so kind. I like the snow but I don't like to drive in it. I usually have to because we wrok no matter what the weather is. They are quite understanding if one can't make it, but they want you to be there if you can. If it is tremendous snowfall I might play in it a bit but then I will snuggle inside and watch it from the window..lol.

I had a rather seasonable November and december as well but January has started off with a bang. I hope that it calms down just a bit so i can get out of my driveway every now and then. sometimes i think that the snow is so much more desirable from looking out the wondow. Good luck to you and your winter weather.
