Eating Walnut Bread in Bed

I am drinking coffee and eating walnut bread in bed. I love bread. All kinds of bread but love the old fashioned bread full of oats, or nuts, or seeds of all kinds, crunchy bread not light and airy bread. Dense brown bread full of all good things. I don't want to eat cotton wool. Bread has helped me to put on weight but that was when I slathered hot bread with butter and jam or honey or something that was sweet. If I was alone I would often not cook and have bread instead. Lots of it. I have since discovered that a really good fresh bread doesn't need butter or any kind of spread to make it palatable. It tastes just so good on its own. So this is how I am enjoying it. Three chunky slices full of seeds and walnuts and it tastes so good. I have an unused bread making machine at home so when I reach, I am going to dust it down and start to make my own nutritious bread that will be somuch healtheir for me to eat. Do you like bread? Do you make your own bread? Or are you a erson wo avoids bread because too much carbs can put on weight? Excuse me while I take another bite

It is so hard to keep weight off isn't it? I really struggle but am walking for about an hour a day - briskly too so I do hope to keep it off me. I am so bad about the fattening stuff too but have to stay away from dairy and oil

I love bread. Bread is my weakness. Forget the desserts. Give me bread. It will be the downfall of me. But what a way to go.

I normally eat oatmeal bread, it is delicious. When I was young and working hard physically, I used to eat a loaf of bread in sandwich form for lunch all the best urban

In those days I put on no weight whatever I ate. The same is no longer true all the best urban

Okay, for one I don't eat in bed, especially bread, I don't want to sleep with the crumbs.. For two, I think bread has been given a bad rap due to processed and bleached flour which makes bread not as good. If the bread if whole grain and no artificial ingredients, it can be good enough to eat more than a slice or two, but not too much, because too much of anything is bad for us.. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed your bread, was it made with English or Black walnuts? I only had walnuts in banana bread, but never just walnut bread.

I had three slices But it was breakfast My sister was in hispital so I had a good sleep and then made coffee and then checked mylot. I must be about 6 hours ahead of you right now in the U.K. Made with English walnuts and they are delicious. I plan to make my own nutritious bread when I go home. It is a dense bread with lots of seeds and walnuts and I may just freeze a couple of loaves and take them home with me. I have collected the sister from hospital sono more breakfasts in bed

Yes, I love bread! I think it's from growing up beside a small bakery. I love the ones that come fresh out of the oven. And I love the ones where you put a slice of butter in it, and it melts from the heat of the bread. Hmmmm.... My place of work is actually close to a bread factory. It's a mass producer of those sliced bread which they sell to stores. Once in while the smell of baking bread goes wafting through our office/facility. And I like it!

hi dear Cynthie, hope you are safe and sound back home and the farm isnt a mess. I have always been a bread lover and if you couldnt make me eat anything else bread on its own would still go down So imagine my sadness and anger when I was diagnosed a diabetic in 2006 so now I have to limit my bread intake eventhough I have switched to full grain breads. Its stressful to always deny myself a real nice serving of bread. Plus I have always loved bread which is 2 days old at the least. I find it tastes so much better when it is not fresh and its also easier to digest.

Just reached home but my laptop is not yet set up etc and I do not have a phone. I do have a bread maker that has never been used. So I plan to learn to use it and make the healthier full grain breads as they are a better choice. I won't be around too much on lime as so much todo with part time job and other problems to solve. Bkessings

I have a bread machine but hardly use it because I prefer tortillas and wraps. But my bread machine does make quick breads and I do love walnut bread smothered with butter. Trouble is I also love nuts so they disappear so quickly. I would not eat walnut bread in bed. It would get rather messy. All those crumbs all over the bed and having to get up and sweep them on the floor and then getting out the vacuum cleaner.

I ate is straight without butter as it was so tasty. I normally do not eat in bed but needed to be kind to myself after much stress. I so enjoyed eating in bed and drinking my coffee. The crumbs were worth it Blessings

Bread is just one of those things, that when it is well made is just delicious. I like making bread, the problem is it can take some time to make, but mixing the flour and the various ingredients and then eating it warm out of the oven, there is nothing like it. I like whole grain breads, but rarely add nuts, don't know why. I do like white bread, there is a bakery near where I live that make these buns that are just like air, I don't always buy it though because sometimes I buy bread to eat at breakfast the next day and it does not survive that long, it is just too good. There is something I don't like, that is eating in bed, because no matter how careful I am, I have a tray, small place setting and plate and I still get breadcrumbs everywhere, so unless I am really sick I rarely eat in bed, even something as great as fresh bread.

LIke you I love the dense breads....ones with lots of grains..especially toasted! I don't make my own though. Since I live by myself alot of times things go to waste. I try not to eat too much bread though as it goes right to my middle!

Ah.... Sniffs..... Nothing like fresh bread. I used to hit the bakery at my local market. They had this "English toasting bread" that was just heavenly. I used to eat it plain. I had this cat, Pounce, when she was a kitten, if I was eating bread, she could climb up my body to try and get to it...

So, another bread eater and I just love it when the bread tastes so good that a spread is not needed. I feel virtuous by not putting butter on it.

Bread in bed, huh? Well I like bread, but not so much. My favorite is French Bread, atleast that's what we call it here in the USA. Not sure if it's really anything to compare to what French Bakers make, but it's yummy. It's inexpensive too and I usually get some, freeze it back, take it out, thaw it, cut what I need... and freeze it again! Yummy Yummy in my tummy. I put garlic and butter on mine. My mom had a bread maker, an ice cream maker too... Oh now that just brings ice cream cake to mind!

I would never be one of those people who go on a no carb diet because I love my bread too much. I love all kinds of bread. Light and airy, thick and dense, its all good to me! Yesterday my husband bought a little round loaf of bread, very small. He hollowed it out making it into a bowl. Then he filled it with a lobster bisque and toasted the pieces he hollowed out for dipping. This was my dinner. OMG yum!

Wow! that sounds wonderful. I remember a few years ago in Boston I had something similar but it was filled with stewed beef. It tasted so good that I always thought of serving this but never did. Maybe when I go home then I will do so. You have a wonderful husband

My Bigmama made yeast rolls that would melt in your mouth. One of the many things i miss that she use to cook.

I adore cornbread but have never made it well and have tried so many recipes. What is your secret to making good corn bread? I needed a little time alone but then got busy to go to hospital to bring her home. On crutches but she is coping well.

I am honestly not one of the world's biggest fans of bread, but I really do think that is because of the fact that the vast majority of the bread that we have around here is store bought and very light bread. Now, for a while my mother was making Amish Friendship bread on a regular basis and that was something that I absolutely loved. I would always have to get a slice of it just as soon as she got it out of the oven and it had cooled enough to remove it from the pan.

I like bread, but not in bed. Your bread sounds yummy. If I am eating bread I try to skip the potatoes/rice/noodles. I do not live alone so I have to feed people. It has its good and bad points.

Like you, I don't like plain white bread, and that is the only kind my husband will eat. I like bread with fruit and/or nuts in it, but i don't get to eat it often. My husband does not like speciality breads. I will not eat my husband's white bread, but I do buy a loaf of whole wheat bread for myself. I keep it in the freezer and take out a slice or two when I want toast or a sandwich. He needs to gain weight, but I don't. Explain that to me.
