Sleep Well For Creativeness

Thiruvananthapuram, India

It has been realized that a huge percentage of people working in different corporate sectors get sleep only to the barest minimum level. In metropolitan cities those who work busily hardly get time enough to sleep well. This would mostly likely adversely affect the progress of mental caliber and strength. The capacity to work diligently is often lost too. Sleeplessness brings with it fatigue and tiredness .It also creates a lot of depression and anxiety. Lack of proper sleep affects quality of life and productivity of individuals. Hence Sleep in its entirety is boon. It is needed for the total rest of the body as well as the soul. Sleep well...later on arise ,awake in renewed vigor to face the challenges of the time.

I've not been getting as much sleep as I've gotten used to this week because I've had a major change in my schedule and that has just been throwing my entire schedule off that I've gotten so used to. I have to admit that I really haven't seen a lot of change in the amount of creativity that I have, but I know that I'm also not depriving myself of sleep at this point. I am definitely looking forward to sleeping this weekend though.

Yes sleep is important but just as important is that how does one get adequate sleep when one goes to bed early enough, but then has to get up to get a drink of water, go to the bathroom, etc. I am talking about one who does not stay up until all hours of the night, does not drink coffee in the evening, and does not want to take sleeping pills. I was thinking of having someone come in with a rubber mallet. I dream a lot.

Hi sukumar,I agree a certain amount of sleep is very necessary for a person to function properly. Thankfully,I haven't had a problem with sleeping. There have been times when I didn't get enough sleep but that was because I stayed up later than I should have. Blessings.

It isn't just limited to people working in corporate sectors. Lots of people go through life sleep deprived and not performing at their best. Not getting enough sleep is also bad for the immune system.

Before because of online work i slept only for 3 hours in a day. There was even a time when whole day i didn't sleep. I noticed that my immune system got low making me easily get colds. Nowadays it is pretty much beautiful for i can sleep like 5 hours and more , can manage my online works now. I have noticed that i can not sleep early also so staying late is but normal for me but i am so frightened ith the news i heard recently that those who got sleep less will die early ! Really ? Hope not only God knows anyway.

Personally, I don't find that I fit in the beliefs about sleep. I sleep an average of around 5 hours a night, sometimes a little more, and sometimes a little less. When I wake up, I wake up. I then get up to meditate for around an hour which I find is far more comfortable that continuing to lay in bed waiting for sleep to come again. I have been this way for the past 30 years or so, and I feel fine with this. I get the feeling that with me it is my mind that used to think I needed sleep more than I did and once I handled those thoughts, I find that sleep has little effect even on the occasional night that I don't sleep at all. I find that meditation can be better than sleep, if done with mindfulness and focus because my conscious awareness is more in control and there are no potential stressful dreams. _Derek

Sleep is a must for the body to get complete rest and to get re-energised and re-invigorated. A good night`s sleep is very necessary so that one wakes up refreshed and ready to face the day. I had worked in one of the Gulf countries 25 years ago and found there a system where one starts working early in the morning upto 1.30 pm and then takes rest for a couple of hours and then begins working till late evening.I found that this interval of sleep made me fresh and i could work much more than had i worked continuously.

Based on my experience, whenever i get less than 7 hours of sleep, i feel lethargic. No amount of coffee can take away my lethargy. Not only that, i would also be short tempered and have no concentration on things that i do. Thus, i make it a point to sleep early, so i could get at least 7 hours of sleep.

I think my sleep was not so good all the time since i entered my senior school about 20 years ago. Due to pressure and other factors, i find i always hard to sleep at night, even though i can sleep soon, i wake up several times during my sleep. However i feel nothing wrong with my health, maybe i just used to this sleep, i feel energetic in daytime. So i think someone may need more than 7 hours' sleep, someone may need less, which depends on individual situation, as long as people don't feel fatigue and tiredness in daytime. In addition, i find someone is very worried about his/her sleep after some night's bad sleep, hence he/she bears huge pressure on sleep, which can make his/her sleep worse.

Not only business people have a lack of sleep. Mothers have a lack of sleep as well, already since ages and for generations. Ever thought how it is to be a full time mother plus wife plus having a full time job? Always being alert and have to sleep with your ears open? BTW it's easy to say to sleep more but if you are "used" only to have a few hours sleep at night it can take years to learn (your body/brains) to sleep more. Most of us are broke if we do catch that extra hour. Also having problems/stress (schoolkids already have and this situation is increasing) is a very good reason for not being able to sleep.

What else thing in the world is sweeter than sleep? Yes sleeplessness affects body mechanism negatively and negative mechanism affects our productivity that is the quality of performance, creativity of work etc. So sleep first.

Oh my I wish I can really sleep well everyday I am working in a graveyard shift and of course in day time I need to attend to my son and husband's needs. And I am also having a hard time to sleep in day time. What I do is I am always taking my vitamin E and eating apples :-) It's really hard to perform everyday's tasks if you have no enough sleep. It causes me sometimes dizziness and feeling so lazy. Also just last week my temp reached 40 degrees celsius i thought it is because of colds or some kind of viral infection but my fever was caused by being over work and having a bed rest and enough sleep for 2 days made me feel better.

If I don't sleep well or lack enough sleeping hours, I find that my mind does not work as fast as usual, which shows that to make work and study more effective, one needs to sleep well for creativeness. Thanks for the discussion.

A very well rested mind and body brings out the best in everything we do. Being tired and stressed out from a day's work could not help us give good decisions.
