It Was Great!

This weekend my husband and I took our children to the Great Wolf Lodge. It was only a couple hour drive and it was something they really wanted to do... They had a BLAST! Who am I kidding? My husband and I had a BLAST too!! Lol. We all had an amazing time. It was a little on the expensive side but it was worth it for the good times we had. We really did not want to leave. For those of you who don't know it has a big indoor water park, craft time, an arcade inside, a bowling alley, a kids salon and a big scavenger hunt game! It also has plenty of places to eat inside too. =) Have you ever been to Great Wolf Lodge? If not, what was the best family vacation you have been on?

I have never been there and it sounds like a great place which has lots of fun things to do for entire family... I guess when my kids were small, the best family vacation was when we went to the 'happiest place on earth' or Disneyland! My kids are all teenagers now; but I think they will still be happy if we have a chance to go back there, especially my two youngest ones...

It was a great time! We all had a blast and did not want to leave, even my husband and I, Lol. Someday I hope to be able to take our children to Disney, it is just so expensive to go there! =( I am sure it is an awesome place to go though...

Hey Now!!! I have been there. I never saw the bowling alley though. That must be something new. I know the arcade they have, my kids just love going there and spending all my money. LOL. I am glad you had a good time.

I know the feeling. My kids love going there. Although I have never stayed there, I enjoyed it as well. My kids live near there. And when I get the chance to go up there I take them there. Maybe next time I go up there I will stay in the Wolf lodge. I know the kids would get a real kick out of that one.

The bowling alley could be new, I'm not sure. It wasn't one for adults, it was a small one for the kiddos. They had a blast the whole trip. Yes it is pricey thats for sure! Lol. They drained our money too but it was worth it. It was one of those trips where you say we are almost broke but you know what it was worth it! We all had a great time. =)

my kids are teenagers and would still like to go to Great Wolf but we just cannot afford to go there. we haven't gone on very many expensive vacations but we have done a lot of fun stuff like fishing, going to the beach, going to a relative's cottage for a few days, that sort of thing. we just enjoy hanging out together. even last year for instance, on Boxing day (the day after Christmas, a holiday here in Canada) we arrived home from spending the day at my mom's to a dark house. our power had gone out! so what did we do? mope? nope! we pulled out the game 'Apples to Apples' and proceeded to play with flashlight and candles! it was so much fun!

It is expensive but it was our kids first vacation ever so we wanted to make it a good one, just in case we cannot ever do anything like that again... It sounds like your family is the kind that I want my family to be like. You don't mope or get down with situations like that, you turn it into something fun instead! That is how I want to be with my kids! =)

My family loves Apples to Apples! Its a great game to play with the entire family, but also a lot of fun to play with just adults. Some of the best moments I've had with my in-laws is having drinks and desserts while playing A2A and explaining why the Helen Keller card trumps all. True story.

We haven't yet had the opportunity to visit Great Wolf, but that is something that I am definitely planning on doing either when I get my settlement or when we get our income tax return next year (whichever comes first). I've always heard great reviews from everyone that I know that has been there. The best family vacation that we've ever taken was in 2007 when Paul was eight months old and Kathryn was four years old. We went to Phoenix, AZ. for my cousin's 40th birthday party. It was a lot of fun and something that Kathryn still talks about to this day.

We went there around spring. There is also one near us. We only slept overnight, but we came there early morning the first day, and went home late the following day. So it was like a two-day stay. The kids also had a blast. Well, I guess me too! I think the kids are even expecting to go there again next year! Glad that you all had fun!

I haven't been there. I've been to Star City with my family but that was a long time ago. It's similar to Disney land but just smaller. I want to bring my son to Safari World in Bangkok where he could enjoy watching animals and animal shows. I'm planning to bring him there on his birthday this coming March. I'm pretty sure he would enjoy it.

There are a few of these in the US, we went to the one in North Carolina which was 3 hours away from where we live... Not too bad of a drive. =) The kids had a blast! And so did we, Lol. A safari sounds like a great time too!

It sounds like an incredible time. I have never been there. I guess the best family vacation we went on when I was a child was either Disneyworld or Worlds 'O Fun. But you know what? I think Silver Dollar City might have beaten both of those. Yeah, I'm going with Silver Dollar City. Just because it was cool to not only go on rides, but see glass get blown and candles being made.

It was an amazing time! Plus they had a show they put on for the kids and they read them a bedtime story each night before bed. It was just really nice. =) We cannot wait until we can go back! I have never heard of Silver Dollar City but it sounds cool! I love stuff like that. I have never been to Disney myself but one day I hope to be able to take our kids there once their old enough to remember it. =)

yes. I met my kids there last year for four days...it was awesome. We were at the one in Wisconsin Dells...and it does have so much to offer...besides that there was an outlet mall nearby and a cheese house...and a restaurant where all your food was delivered by little trains!

I was never there but my daughter was and she loved it too! She did say it was a bit pricey but they had so much fun it didn't matter. I'm happy to hear you were able to get away for a short time..everyone needs that and I know your family did! I've been on a few vacations to various states but I still think my favorite family vacation was actually when we rented the Lodge at a campground. It was set back in the woods, more private, but the lake was only a couple hundred feet away. It was a huge campground so you can walk for a few miles everywhere. The Lodge itself had 3 bedrooms, a large eat in kitchen, 2 bathrooms (one for the girls and one for the guys), and great big living/dining area with a beautiful indoor/outdoor fireplace, plus a big concrete pit in the front for your outdoor fire. I loved it and we stayed for a week. It only cost each of us about $500 for the week and that included the food and drinks. Can't beat that for a week of fun and games. We rented a boat too for the week. I'd love to go back there but it's all changed now....new management ruined it all unfortunately. (I'm glad I copied this response because the entire thing disappeared, good ol' myLot),,

It was an awesome time for all of us and we did need it so badly! It was nice to be able to take our kids on their first vacation. =) They deserved it. It was really nice. That sounds amazing! I would love to find a lodge like that for my husband and I to go to. Ugh, sounds SO peaceful and romantic! I am glad you got to enjoy a vacation too, some people never get one so I am grateful for the one I got too. =) I hate when new people take over and ruin things! So annoying!!

Isn't it great to have a fun, memorable vacation? The best family vacation I had actually wasn't a vacation. We were moving a few states away and decided to make a drive out of it. It was myself, my husband, our little one, and the puppy. We had a blast. We had put money aside to stay in really nice hotels so we could pretend to be wealthy for a couple days and enjoy indoor swimming and room service. We also drove to well known landmarks along our route and bought decorative shot glasses that are now a part of the kitchen decor. Even the stressful moments (such as breaking the last phone charger we had and having no phone/gps service for a couple hours while trying to find a rest stop at 2 in the morning that sold a compatible charger) added to the value of the trip because we overcame them as a family. I've never been to the Great Wolf Lodge, but its something I will definitely look into now. My husband is always looking for another reason to take the family out for fun ;P

The best trip I have ever taken was a train trip to New Orleans with my mom. Does this count? We had a great time. It took over 12 hours to get there and the train ride was so much fun. And once we got there it was wonderful. I got to see the French Quartet and The Garden District.Perfect!

Wow! You seemed to have enjoyed that one! I've not been to Great Wolf Lodge and have only known about this through your discussion. From your description, the place looks like an ideal place for the family. I can imagine the enjoyment you had with the children in that big indoor water park, craft time, with an arcade inside, a bowling alley, a kids salon, a big scavenger hunt game, and places to eat. That is truly great place! But what I would love more are the places to eat. I love to eat out with my family. We also have lots of fun and entertaining places for the family here in our country but so far I could not find a perfect match to Great Wold Lodge. Maybe I have to look around further more. Thanks for sharing.

This Great Wolf Lodge does sound like fun. And alittle expenditure for the entire family to have a good time is well worth it. We have a water park here and not sure what all it has available. Good to hear that you had a good time. How many children do you have?
