I can't eat for some reason

Last night I ate 1 slice if pizza. I didn't feel good after eating it last night and went to bed. I didn't get sick like I used to after GB surgery. I didn't get hungry during the night and I didn't get hungry when I woke up. I am not hungry and I don't want to force myself to eat. The thought if eating just turns me queasy right now. It is now almost 2 pm and I'm not the least bit hungry. All I want to do is drink. I am drinking coffee right now. I had 3 cups today and I'm on my 4th. I have some diet coke that I might want later. The family wants hamburgers and curlie fries tonight. I hope I can eat something then. They are more full of fat and my stomach might not want it. I hope I can eat then. But I'm just dirt of turned off eating. Maybe it is stress affecting me this way. I don't know. I will be cooking the meal tonight. I hope the aroma of the fries and burgers will make me WANT to eat. But right now I am turned off on it mentally. I can't seem to be appitized by anything. Anyone else feeling this way? Your thoughts please?

that is good because too much of eating can spoil your body and maintain a strict diet always

It works for me. In glad I don't feel like snacking anymore. I lost two pounds from yesterday. I want to lose 20 pounds by my next doctor appointment on December 26. He is pleased that I had lost some at my last visit. I have a heart and pulmonary problem that makes me extremely ill when it flares up. Weight loss takes the stress off my pulmonary system.

hi pointlessquestions could it be stress from family conflicts as when I feel stressed out with no good way to solve a problem I lose my appetite. with me when certain foods we are served here trigger that damned IBS abdominal cramps then I almost feel nauseated at the thought of eating. but usually I feel great and I just eat what I can of what is offered to us.Maybe the aroma of fries and burgers might m ake you hungry.why do you have to cook tonight? If you are feeling'like this should not that thoughtless daughter of yours do the cooking?. Do not let them treat you as a second class person ever.

You hit the nail on the head Aunt Hatley. I am stressed. Maybe this is a coping mechanism. I'm glad to have Mylot to talk about things.

We talked about this. BRAT diet. Hope it works for you. If you keep these things for the end of the month when you eat hamburgers and such that make you sick. How did they like the hamburgers and curlie fries? I noticed that after my gallbladder was taken out that fats made my stomache hurt. Doesn't anymore. I am not hungry during the day and then in the evenings I want to eat, eat, and eat.

Oh, good you did get some food. Is it just the fat in stuff that makes you sick? Glad they got some things you can eat too.

The family went shopping today and got bananas, apples, grapes and other foods I can eat comfortably so I ate already. I also ate a baked potato. He got some chicken hot dogs. I plan on having one for supper. I can eat lean hamburgers. I don't throw up anymore, but still feel sick often. I'm glad that they got some foods I can eat. I can go day times too without eating. I don't lose control with my eating anymore. I eat supper and will eat again around 9 pm if I want something.

Stress used to make me hungry and I would snack a lot. But now my body has changed how it does things. I react to stress differently. There is no tension today so I'm glad if that. I can relate to you not feeling well after eating just snack foods. Those snacks in the vending machines are notorious for bogging the body down. I try to stay away from them.

hi, Its all because of coffee. It kills our hunger. Stress also play a role. I don't feel like eating anything when i take tea, may be because of caffeine. Same with mind full of tensions. Dont feel like eating anything at all. But slowly i am realizing that stress and caffeine is not good for our body. Need to take care. After all it is our body which is going to suffer and feel all the pain.

I think part of it is tension. I guess it's the only thing that makes me feel normal.

Yes I feel that often. When I stay at home, I'm hungry all the time but I don't eat because I want to lose some weight. But now I have something to do all the time and I'm not hungry any more. I don't eat something all day long and when I arrive home I eat something because I don't want gastritis or another disease of the stomach. I recomand you don't drink coffe, coke or acidulated drinks and have regular meals once or twice a day. This is my solution which I applied it on me.

I've been going through lots of changes since the surgery. I'm sort of grateful for these changes. I would like to eat an egg but I'm just not hungry.

I felt like this a while back but I was also feeling some flu like symptoms, so that was the reason.. I thought at the time though, I wouldn't mind not wanting to eat at other times! But that's just me, as I could stand to slim a little..

I just can't tolerate some foods. Right now everything we have is stuff that makes me feel ill or make make trips to the bathroom.

You may be stressed and therefore not hungry, but you could also be coming down with something. I would say to be sure to drink nutritious things if you can, I love coffee and tea, but there are times I know I should have some juice or some milk, or some broth to keep me healthy.

I am stressed for sure. I love my coffee. It's something I enjoy in the morning and throughout the afternoon. It is like warm and cozy to me.

I got hungry at around 9 pm last night. I ate a little and then at midnight I felt hungry again do I ate a left over hamburger. It was one of those frozen patties from Ingles. It was good. I lost 2 pounds from yesterday. I'm not hungry today either but I probably will be this evening. I made up a dish from what K cooked this noon. I'll eat some of it when I get hungry. It will probably last me for two dYs because I eat very little. 4 or 5 bites and I am done.

Hi PQ! As my dad would say, if you're hungry, you'll eat - if you're not, you won't. You might not want to eat because it's too hot or too cold, maybe getting sick, or just plain no reason - just don't want to! And perhaps it is the stress . . . such a mental thing stress is - your body can't concentrate on food because it's so focused on the stress. Maybe drinking water would be better to flush out your system - instead of coffee or soda? Maybe get some soup . . . at least it's liquid and you can be "drinking" nutrition if you don't want to "eat". Yah, sometimes I do get like that . . . but most people know that something is wrong with me when I don't eat because I always never "not" eat - ha ha.

Part of it might be stressed. I do feel ill eat when I want to. Right now I just don't want to and thinking about eating is uncomfortable. Eating often makes me sick. I feel much better drinking a little juice. In not starving. I'm just not hungry.

I got hungry last night around 9 pm and ate a slice if pizza. That's all I could find that I wanted. Then about midnight I got hungry again and ate a small a burger on a bun that was left over. I haven't eaten yet today. It's almost noon. Son in law got the makings for beefy nachos, and my daughter is fixing that now. I won't eat until this evening when I get hungry. I won't eat when I'm not hungry. There is no chance of me over eating because the volume if my food intake is just a few ounces. I guess I'm eating about 700 calories a day. I lost 2 pounds from yesterday. I bet all the exercise I got helped. I worked outside some today sweeping the leaves off the carport and the long driveway. That is great exercise for me and doesn't hurt me. There is only so much I can do.

Hi Pointlessquestions, Hope you are starving now and was eating already, if still not before taking your coffee have a chicken broth first or instead of coffee just take fresh fruit juice. Please minimize your coffee , you intake too much. Sometimes I don't fell like eating too but my sons were the one preparing the foods, so not to spoil what they prepared I eat even small portion or else they well get disappointed... If I am sick or stress I love to eat,not a daily menu but something different which my minds were craving. After GB surgery please stay away with fatty, spicy and acid foods.. Mayonnaise , cheese are one culprits of flashing it off immediately. Sodas and coffee is not good also. Please don't be ,stress at our age we should keep away from stress, let stress, stress you :).. Hope you fell good now.

Hi Sunshinefame! Right now I don't have any choice but to eat the more fatty foods because that is all that is here. I ran out if money to buy groceries I can eat. My daughter and son in law, who I live with, buy the more fatty stuff like packaged frozen hamburgers, deep dish pizza, curly fries and the like. My stomach always feels a little sick or that it has butterflies in it, if you know what I mean. So I am sort of fasting until I am really hungry. I like my coffee as it makes me feel good and I can get my work done. I put milk in it so I am getting nourishment. I also drink a couple glasses of orange juice. I'm okay. I'll eat around 9 pm if I am hungry.

I think you shouldn't push it, certainly not with burgers and fries. Try to eat something lighter and see if you can keep it down. If you don't get sick move on to something more, and then slowly get used to eating again. Start off with just a slice of bread or a piece of fruit of some sort like a mandarin, small apple or something. If you're ok with that try a salad of some sort. Just don't dive in to burgers straight away because if you ask me, I think you might end up getting sick. If this problem persists, there's over the counter medicine you can take that increases appetite.

I will eat lighter when I can afford to. I don't get paid till November 2nd so I have to eat what the family eats. They don't eat the way I have to. I have to make so with what we have. I just eat a few bites and I'm done when I do eat. My tummy can't hold but a few ounces due to my gastric bypass surgery. When I get paid I will buy some whole chickens and roast them. I can eat chicken very well. I will also get my favorite veggies and fruits. I'm just sort of stuck right now until I can get my own food again.

I guess because of your coffee intake and not much appetite to take some food.I have that feelings too. And sometimes we feel our stomach like we are full without any food intake. This is just depend on our mood I guess.

I'm thankful for the decreased appetite really. I fixed me a container of food that my daughter made. I'm not eating it now. I put it in a Tupperware bowl and put it in the fridge for when I do get hungry. She made beefy nachos and cheese with tortilla chips. I crushed the chips and put the nacho stuff on it and will eat a little tonight if I get hungry. I probably will be ready to eat by then.

I've felt that way before. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. I think that sometimes our systems just need a break. We don't HAVE to eat three times a day, day in and day out. It's a cultural thing rather than a physical need. It might help your entire system to cut the coffee and Coke and drink water for the rest of the day. Coffee and Coke dehydrate us and that's not good on a good day.

I don't drink much cokes. I usually drink decaf coffee. I do sometimes drink real coffee but not all the time. I normally feel full after a few bites. Sometimes I feel very uncomfortable when I eat. I have felt better by just drinking a little juice.

I think what you need is some good old-fashioned chicken soup! I read the other comments and it looks like the most logical reason for you feeling this way is nerves. Our bodies usually let us know what they need or don't need. If you're not hungry, don't worry about it, at least not for a day or so. I'd say it's just your body's way of saying it needs a rest. You want to know what I eat when I'm not feeling "quite right"? Soft-boiled egg mixed with broken up toast. I don't know why but if I'm not feeling good, like I have a cold or even a virus, I always want that. I rememeber my mother making that for my sister and myself when we were little so maybe it's just a personal comfort food. Do you have anything like that, a personal comfort food? Maybe you could try that. I sure hope you're feeling yourself again real soon!

happens to me sometimes as well. As my morning glucose is quite high I handle the situation exactly like you do, only having coffee and water when I dont feel like eating knowing the urge to eat will come back somewhen during the day.
