Almost as soon as I post a discussion about my hours changing to split shift, they change back! And only after working splits for 2 days! Talk about shocking...not to mention relieved! I did not look forward to working this kind of shift at all. Apparently they hired someone for afternoon shifts, so I'm back to my old schedule...at least for now. The only thing that changed is that I have to be at work at 4 am. But it's only for one day a week. The rest of the time I go in at 5. I don't really like getting up so early, but at the same time I don't mind. Because with this shift when I get off work I still have a lot of the day left...which is really, really nice. So, to make this a discussion, what kind of schedule do you have for work? Are you happy with it, or would you rather work a different shift?

8 - 5... I'm fine with it. I'd like to sleep in later, but then I'd have less of the evening ahead, so this is fine. After all these years, I 'm used to it.

Oh, how I'd love to be able to sleep in ...but even if my hours were different it wouldn't matter. My family never lets me sleep in anyway! Happy mylotting!

I have 2 part time jobs right now. I bounce back and forth on when I work. One job does my schedule around what the other one schedules me. This week I work one job 3 times on a day shift and 3 at night and the other job I work 2 day shifts and 3 night shifts. I don't go in until 9am and get off by 3pm and then I go back at either 5 or 6 until 9 or 10 depending on the day. The way it is working right now I am home to get my kids off to school and home to get them off the bus. Then I am back home just after bedtime, so I can make sure they actually went to bed.

Wow, I couldn't imagine bouncing around like that. I almost did that once, but the newer job was willing to work around the older job's weekend schedule so I ended having to choose one over the other.

I used to work on different shifts as well but it was never that quick to change.hehe at least they were quick to change it back to a regular shift and you dont have to work split shifts anymore. :) i worked with call centers and bpo before but we never had split shifts because many agents would complain and our company would be brought to labor department. Hahaha. Right now i am happy with my shift. It is a rehular nine to six pm shift... often if i am late though i can extend my time or i can opt to come in early and go early too. So it depends on us so long as we can complete a shift required for a days work.

Wonderful! Glad that shift didn't last too long. I work early mornings and I love it.....I have half the day left when I get home to work on other things!

Nope, just a regular 9-5 shift for me. I don't really like it but hey you gotta make the bread so that you can survive. It would be weird if I had to get up around 4 or 5 am. Then I would have to go to bed around 9 pm the night before. I guess it would be nice so you would have a ton of extra time during the day to do stuff. It would be really tough if I had to change shift times too.

It would be weird for me too, especially seeing as I have to be at work at those times! Happy Easter!

I am definitely NOT a morning person, I am like a bear with a sore head, throughout my working life I have mainly worked shifts, I much prefer to work in the afternoons, evenings and nights when I am more active and 'alive' anything earlier than 11am and I am dreary eyed, irritable and tired which is definitely not what customers want to see and hear. Besides working late shift you earn more. I was always volunteering to work the weekends too, because I much rather have a couple of days off in the week when it was quieter for shopping etc, than Saturdays or Sundays, plus of course you earn extra at the weekends.

True, the pay is more...at least when it comes to graveyard shift. And as much as I like the idea of getting paid more, I like getting the job done and over with even more. Not that it matters. There's no graveyard shift where I'm at anyway. Unfortunately, my only day off is Sunday...unless I get too many hours in. When that happens I might get Friday off as well, which is nice to have and all, although when I get too many hours in I wish I could get two days off in a row instead. That way I'd have a better chance to recoup. But at this point I'll take what I can get! My body may ache, but I can't complain (too much ). After all, I'm very grateful to have this job. Happy mylotting!

I am glad that it worked out for you. My husband has all kinds of weird hours. He is on night shift, but sometimes goes in at 6,8, or 10 and gets off anytime between 6:30 and 10:30 in the morning. I do not work, as I stay home to take care of things with my son.

Thanks Thoroughrob, me too. My husband used to have all kinds of hours as well. But now he's the one that stays home while I go out and work. It works for us as one of us has to be home for our kids...especially our oldest son. It'd be great if both of us could work, but unfortunately that just isn't possible... Happy mylotting!

I am in a regular shift. I work from 9 in the morning until 6 in the evening. But sometimes I have to overtime if the need arises. I like my work schedule. It is healthy, and I have more time to spend with other things at night, and most of all I really don't need to wake up very early. So I am contented with my work schedule. And I can say I am happy with it. Although I won't mind working few more hours to earn more money.

I worked evening and night shift at my last place of employment. I loved it!!!! I am still a night owl because my system just won't go back to "normal" hours of operation. I get more done at night than any other time of day. It drove my Mom nuts when I moved in with her because she was used to getting up at 7 a.m. and I would get up at 11 a.m. or noon. I have adjusted my "off work" life to getting up at 9 a.m. and I crawl in bed at 2 a.m. People know to NOT call me before 11 a.m. because I am not really pleasant to deal with that early. I did pull some split shifts when I was working, and I HATED them, you can't do much of anything between shifts. I also pulled a few where I would work all night get off at 6 a.m. and then have to be back in at 2 p.m. Those were miserable shifts and I would spend my days off sleeping. I am sooooo happy for you that you didn't have to work more than two days working splits! You would be sooooo exhausted! I will say that I do love my current working arrangement....I don't have to worry about the boss putting me on crazy shifts, I set my own hours of working, and I can do whatever tasks I want to work each day....but of course the boss is a real idiot and doesn't give me regular days off, Christmas bonuses, birthday gifts, recognition for jobs well done, or national holidays off....but then again I'm the boss! Making teddy bears, designing jewelery, and maintaining my buying and reselling of collectibles and other stuff isn't conducive to regular 8 to 5 hours. But it doesn't bother me a bit. I love my job and wouldn't give it up for anything.

Hahaha! Hey at least you get to set your own hours, right? From what I understand I'm supposed to get national holidays off. However, I just found out I'm working President's Day. And here I was so looking forward to getting an extra day off. Oh well, at least I'll be getting a little more on my paycheck this way, which is always a big plus...even if my body doesn't think so! LOL Happy mylotting!

Sacmom, Working at 5 am is something I can never get used to. I dont have any kind of job right now but I worked in a normal office from 9 am to 5 pm job and I didnt like that job either and I never can get used to 8 hour shifts. So left the job and now at home, earn a little bit online with my blogs and all that.

If that works for you, great! I myself can't make a living off of what I make online. So I had to get a job outside the home. Happy mylotting!

I am no longer working. But when I was still having my online job, I have tried working on all the times of the day! I mean, I had accounts that needs me to log in as early as 6am and there were jobs that needs to be working from 9pm until 6am the following morning. And there were days (yes, a lot of days) when I was working almost 18 hours a day! It was tiring, but I enjoyed the most part of it.

Recently, my work schedule are sort of a flexible. But now, I have to get used to grave yard shifts for the rest of the year. I missed those good night sleep. I hope I can have a day job soon to make my sleeping patterns fixed. I know that it is healthier to have a night sleep than in the day, according to scientific researches. Thanks

In one program I am 3-midnight, three nights per week. On the weekends I work either 5 pm to 11 or 7 pm to 11, but I have given notice that I will not continue that. I would rather work early in the day, but right now I have a lot of daytime appointments to meet and this works. Does not pay well either. I sometimes get asked to work an early shift along with my evenings, and that might be from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. or any hours in between that. My job involves passing medications and serving meals and keeping house for adult disabled clients.

Okay, this is the last one, I just saw the notes I had taken and saved in SkyDrive is not showing up, so I am more behind than I thought. I agree, that is early, I'd rather rather go in at 6, that wold still give me plenty of day, even int he winter months. I guess since I don't have an outside job, I can tell you how much time I spend on my school work, it literally takes me most of the day, due to interruptions of family, dogs, life... Plus one class is especially difficult, LOTS of work, takes me a god 2-3 days to finish one class, and I have three others I have to do. It would be more reasonable if each class took me anywhere from one to one and a half days to finish, but noooo, not my Sociology class..

I work in home senior care so my work schedule changes constantly. One month pulling 60 hour weeks and this month down to about 12 hours a week. It's crazy but I do love it. If I had to choose though, it would be evenings because we're winding down from the day and it's more of a relaxed atmosphere. I do enjoy the outtings during the day but in and out of the car can be tiring so evenings it is for me when I can get the shift.

I had a similar schedule like that with a previous job. I don't think I ever got 60 hours for one week there, but I did work 12 straight days before. However, after my boss hired a couple of people it went down to about 15 hours a week. And that was just not enough hours to get by on.
