Years ago we had this restaurant in town that I loved. They served a bread bowl salad which I had each and every time I went. Then the restaurant in town closed. But they still had the restaurant in the city of Rochester, NY which is about an hour away from us. Whenever we went to Rochester for anything, we'd always make sure to eat there. Well last night we drove to Rochester to see Wicked, the musical. It was awesome by the way. We left early, expecting to eat dinner at my favorite restaurant. But when we drove by, they were closed! NY state only has a few of these restaurants left, and most are down by NY city.. which is like 5 hours from me. I may never have my bread bowl salad again Have you ever had a favorite restaurant close down, meaning you may never have a certain thing ever again?

Oh yes, this has happened to me. I used to go to a wondeful Greek Restaurant on occasions and the last time I went there is had closed. I wa so disappointed until I found out it had changed locations and not closed down permanently. There was another restaurant though that served local food and it inexpensive and tasy and this one closed permanently. Sad really

It just happened to us last Friday. My sons love this one Italian restaurant close to our house. It's a small family-run restaurant, but their food taste so authentic. We usually stop by on some Friday nights because it's on our way home after fitness. But one of my son injured his hand playing basketball a couple of weeks ago and we have not been going to the gym. Last Friday we went back to the gym and decided to get some pasta on the way home. As we got closer, my son said it looked like it was closed. And as we parked in front of the restaurant, his brother said it's not just closed, but it's gone! All that left was just an empty space, all the signs and equipment were gone. We all became quiet from shock, there were no sign that they may have moved or anything like that and we realized our favorite restaurant was gone...

The only permanent thing is CHANGE! hehehehe! I hope you'll find a new restaurant where you can enjoy eating with your kids! I love going to fastfood... Mc Donalds, KFC and Jollibee... and I spent hours reading books in there while enjoying my meal... God bless you and your whole family!

You're right, there will always be changes... We ended up going to Subway next door to the restaurant that was gone. There are indeed other restaurants around, but we have yet to find a good authentic Italian food to replace the one we miss when it disappeared. May God Bless you and yours too...

They sell most of their appetizers at grocery stores.. though I'm not sure it's the same. We don't have one around here.

I have had several places that I have liked close over the years, but my biggest thing is that I moved 4 hours away from a lot of things that I loved. I could go back home and go crazy eating at the places I miss.

I only live about 30 minutes away from where I grew up.. so that's no problem for me. Though we used to go to Ottawa regularly when a good friend of mine lived there. Now she's moved further away, and it's harder to visit Canada.. we don't have passports or enhanced ID or anything.. plus we can't afford to travel.. so we miss a lot of the things Canada has to offer, like poutine!

Yeah, I also had 2 of my favourite restaurants that servers us with special noodles and soup that had a secret recipe. But they are still there and still serve those noodles. I think you should search for some other restaurants for the food you discussed. Hope you will find the same...

this has happened to me,too.years ago,our family lived in one city ,but my husband worked in another city, not far from our house.i usually went to that city to see my husband on weekend.then he took me to some good local snack bars,my favorite one was among them .that snack bar only opened at night, food there was delicious and special, and not expensive.but last month,my husband told me that snack bar was closed,i couldn't believe that.as i increasingly used to the taste of food in that snack bar,it had been closed.whatever the only way is to find some place instead

When I get attached to a restaurant it is usually not a chain. One I miss was a bed and breakfast that offered fine dining by reservation at their lodge, on weekends. My friend and I and our husbands used to go there either for valentines or for our anniversary celebrations. There is a Swedish Restaurant in a nearby town that has opened and closed several times over the years. I have not been there in years because I got really disappointed by the changes and it has closed a couple of times.

I am sorry to hear that your favorite restaurant is closed. I hope it will open again. I think most probably it must be preparing all your favorite dishes.

Yes, I have. There used to be about 6 of these restaurants in the area at one time. However, last I saw they were down to 1! That one isn't really that far from me, but they changed the menu and no longer serve the meal my husband and I went there for. As that was the only meal we got there we have no reason to go to that restaurant anymore. Happy mylotting!

Often. Annoying. When I moved up here, there was a Baja Fresh near work that I would go to. I was off dairy for 3 months, so didn't go there, when I got back on it, I went there and it was closed. Boy was I happy to find another one more or less in the area. Our favorite Fresh Choice closed too, and the next nearest one is Roseville (40 minute drive).

Luckily for me, this has never been something that I've had to experience in my life, but you did make me a little bit scared of it eventually happening to one of my favorite restaurants here. You see, this restaurant that I am talking about is a privately owned restaurant and the owner of the restaurant is definitely getting up in years. It is not only the food at this restaurant that I love, it is also the atmosphere as the restaurant is housed in what used to be a church and they still have all of the stained glass windows and such. This really does make the restaurant special in my opinion.

Hopefully they'll just pass it on to someone who'll run it the same way with the same food.

We currently live in the suburb. Years ago, when we lived in the city, there was one Japanese restaurant which was a favorite of ours. It was small, and I think the girl waiting on tables was the daughter of the owner. I liked their katsudon there. So, every time we'd wander into the city, I'd make sure I'd get a bowl or eat there. I think it was 2 years ago when I saw that they already closed. And not it was some sort of convenience store.

Yes, it happened to me many times. To get to love a particular restaurant and to see it closed forever. It is sad, but we need to move on and try other restaurants as well. The world is full of good chefs. After a while, you will not be missing it too much. Time heals.
