Would you buy a souvenir?

Hubby and I went to see Wicked last night. Before the show started we were wandering around the lobby and they had merchandise for sale. Hubby asked me if I wanted a t-shirt or something. The t-shirts were like $40 each, and I said no because I didn't want to spend that kind of money. But he said I should, as a souvenir of the show. So I caved and got myself a t-shirt.. my new avatar picture is of me holding the t-shirt I bought last night. Hubby got himself one too, a grey one that says Wicked on the front, and all the tour dates on the back. I wanted to buy the soundtrack too, but they were selling it for $25. Hopefully I can find it cheaper elsewhere. It seemed almost everyone who was there did buy themselves something.. although everything was ridiculously overpriced. A pin was $12! Do you buy yourself a souvenir at shows or concerts like this even though it's expensive?

I don't go to shows like this, that much so I wouldn't be enticed to get a souvenir if ever I went. But I do go to professional sports games (once in every 3 years(?)). And that's when I'm hit with a want, or a need to get a souvenir. We went to watch the Portland Trailblazers once, and I bought my son a Brandon Roy jersey. It was very expensive.

I'm sure it was! Even hot dogs at professional sports game are ridiculously expensive!

No, I never want to spend that kind of money. Well, maybe, if it was also some special occasion like our anniversary. I would be more inclined to get someone to take our pictures together at the even and create something with it.

I didn't want to spend the money either really.. but hubby convinced me. I don't regret it. Sometimes it's nice to splurge on yourself.

Hmmm...If I actually had the money I would probably get the shirt or the soundtrack, but I doubt I would do both. It is insane what they charge, but it would be nice to have that souvenir to remember the show.

It is insane, but I was expecting that. I got a t-shirt when I went to a Maroon 5 concert a couple years ago too.

Skating shows aren't quite as pricey. Hm, actually I got a signed photo when I went to see Memphis, and it was only $20. Wicked's more popular though. I'd say those prices are high compared to what I'm used to.

If I had to choose then I would have bought the soundtrack alone but if I had the money, yes, I would have bought the t-shirt too. It is a memory and a nice one of an evening together. Looking at ot and wearing it will bring back that joy.

I do wish I had the soundtrack, although, as I said, I could probably buy it cheaper elsewhere. I am glad I have the t-shirt.

I am not tight or mean but I begrudge paying the over inflated prices that they charge. When I was younger I was always collecting souvenirs of where I went and what I saw, and then it came to moving, after moving 6 times I was carrying all this bulk around with me, so I had a massive purge and got rid of so much stuff, now I have to think twice before I consider buying anything. I am sure you can buy the merchandise for a fraction of the cost of what they were charging. Soundtracks is probably the only thing I'd want, and those you can definitely find cheaper.

Sometimes I do....I used to go to the Lorie Line concert every Christmas and buy a bell....so I had a collection of bells from her shows....but the last one we went to we were not happy and ceased to go to anymore. I went to Kenny Rogers Christmas show instead and didn't buy anything....

Aww, sorry you weren't happy with the last show. Seeing Kenny Rogers must have been cool though!

I've never been to a show like this, but I've been to plenty of concerts and the inevitable Disney on Ice. I have to say that I've actually never bought a souvenir for myself and that is mostly because most of the events that I go to will allow you take your own camera and I get my souvenirs from the pictures that I take at these things. However, I do find that if I have any of the children are with me I will end up buying souvenirs that I hadn't planned on purchasing.

Hi, Unless it is a very unusual event or a very special souvenir Item, I would not buy it. Most souvenirs are priced so low you can't afford to miss them but at the range you said, I think I had to pass. I won't miss the show anyway.

First I have to say, that I would love to see Wicked! And second, I wouldn´t buy anything. Those kinds of souvenirs are overpriced and it´s waste of money to buy them. For example - I was with my boyfriend in UK and we went to visit Harry Potter Studios. Because I am huge fan of those books and movies. And I wanted to buy something to remind me that great day. But everything was so expensive. I rather kept money and bought something useful. I will have always memories of that place, even without overpriced souvenirs.

Sometimes I cannot help buying souvenirs from anyplace. Even though I know they are over-priced and less quality, I just want to buy. My BF always keep arguing with me, anyway, I like it and I like to collect those souvenirs. I think I will enjoy my collections when I am getting old.:)

if i have extra cash, i would love to buy souvenirs from "once in a lifetime" shows or concerts. however, i'd choose the ones that i would be able to regularly use, like the shirt that you got. talking of souvenirs but not of shows and concerts, i was in paris last year and i bought plenty of souvenirs that i gave to my friends when i came back to rome. they were pleased even if the items i bought weren't expensive. 40 USD is too much for a shirt.

If I have a money to buy a souvenir why not? Hehehe. But If I am with your situation I will refused to buy. 40$ is a lot and it can buy a milk for may baby or even our needs. If that is only 10$ I will buy it. Lol
