When will I ever learn my lesson?

I had experienced things like that when I go to the salon. I give the lady instructions of what I would want my hair to be. Then she reasoned out that it is not good and she wants to do her way. I am upset because she keep on murmuring that what I want is not good for me. It is so upsetting. why these people can not understand that customer is always right? what ever is the customer's order they should do it. They should not do their own way. I never come back to that salon anymore and I told everyone I know who use to go there that, those people are not treating their customers right.

I know exactly how you feel. I was just starting in Real Estate and I wanted a more professional look, my hair was fairly long and straight. So I went to a salon I had gone to before, but the woman I used was not there, so I went with someone else. I showed her a picture and said this style but an inch or two longer. Well she went SO short I could barely make a tiny pony tail. I was so mad I could not even cry. I wanted to buy a wig because no matter what I did with it, I looked awful. I bought a clip on ponytails and wore them for about 3 months. Even then it did not look good, and was still not long enough to cut or trim, but I did not want to hide my head in bag at least.

I then found someone I really liked but the last few times he said I am bored and did a few things I did not like. So I went back to someone in the same salon I had used a few times when he was out and explained the situation to her. She did exactly as I told her, not the other way around. If I wanted him to get creative, I would have asked him to. I am the one paying the bill!

My husband hated the first cut so at least he for a change undestood .Later on he said I was too fussy. I feel if I have a hard time doing it after I get home, then the cut is bad.

I wanted to be a hairdresser when I was young and practiced on my dolls, permed and set my grandmother's hair all the time when I was a teen. I used to cut my own hair and bangs ( and still do my own bangs better than any salon) when it was very long. But I can not do layers on myself. I also color my own hair.

I do not understand why so many women take this abuse. Why don't you just get a robocut and do your own? You'll save a fortune, get the exact look you want, and not have to be at someone else's mercy.

I hear ya Trace, on the subject of hairdressers. Oh yeah. Learned my lesson there. A long time ago. Mine just doesn't get done if my girl at my favorite salon is not available. Had a really hard time finding a good one when we moved to a different city. Seems if you are not a 'regular' you are low priority and they don't really want to listen to you. Oh yeah and hubbies just don't get it at all. They are totally useless when it comes to a woman's hair. So sorry that happened to you, Trace and hope it grows back soon for you, although I know it is never soon enough...

I know what you mean. I always deal with the very samw thing. I have not met anyone who can cut my hair though. It is awful. I hate the way they cut my hair. they always do their own thing with it, no matter what I say. I hate feeling obligated to tip them afterwards also.

If you dont watch those haircutters faithfully they will always cut your hair too short. I dont know if they want less hair to deal with or what, but I get tired of it. Yesterday I went to one and she charged me 3.00 for thinning her hair. She did not mention there was a charge for this. There isnt anywhere else. I did not give her a tip. I figured that's where the 3.00 went.

It is stories like your that serve to put me off going to hairdressers! I had not been for 9 years and a couple of weeks ago I took the plunge and went in for a trim. The girl that did it was perfect and did exactly what I wanted. I now want it styling into a shape and so I am hoping to go in either next week or the week after. I am going to have the same girl but I am just hoping she gets it right the next time!

Man, I hope you said something to this girl because that's just not cool what she did. I would have been so upset. Hair cutting is a very tight rope to walk, once it's gone IT'S GONE for a few months...

I would definitely have words with that girl if I were you...

Girls and their hair salon drama! It starts early too - my six year old was makign a big deal abotu her hair this morning and I had to stand in a corner and not look while she got it sorted out with a scrunchie!

Some lessons need to be learned the hard way. I have done that and realized that it is better to be patient, for good things come to those who wait- and to those who remember to schedule in advance! Take heart, your hair will grow back and then you can go to Shannon and she will make it all better.

Hairdressers are like men- when you find a good one, don't let her go!
