Snow! Do you miss is? Or do you have it everyday and are so sick of it? |
| |
| Snow! Where is the snow? I have lived in London all my life and when I was younger it seemed as though we were having snow every Christmas, without fail! Now, come Christmas it's either raining or cold and very sunny! I miss the snow and I sure wish that it would come back. There's just something so beautiful about the snow, it makes everything look so nice for a short while. Do you have snow yourself? Are you inundated with snow? Are you so sick of it that you want to experience concrete once more? Snow, it's fun for the kids and I have never actually built myself a snowman! I hope that when the snow eventually returns, if it does, then I can build myself a snow buddy!! Andrew | | | | | |

| | I grew up in Lake Tahoe where it snows - A LOT! Now I live in a town where we hardly get any snow at all - maybe a few inches. Sometimes I miss it, but I really don't miss all of the shoveling! | | | | | | |

| | Lake Tahoe? I would sure love to live there then, for a short while anyway. I know that there are some parts in the States that get a lot of snow and it's really nice to look at. My problem is, I'm just focusing on the beauty and not the hard work of having to dig yourself out at times. Andrew | | | |

| | I lived in the south (Texas) all of my life up until 3 1/2 years ago, I moved to the northeast. We were lucky if we got a light dusting of snow in Texas, although there was the rare occassion when we got snow that lasted for more than a few hours or a day.lol I was so excited the first time it snowed after I moved up here, I couldn't get enough of it. My s/o on the other hand has lived up here all his life and sees snow differently than I do lol. I still get excited at the first snowfall of the season. | | | | | | |

| | I'm going to have to bare these places in mind! Perhaps I'll visit when it's all snowy! Have you ever ventured down the path of building yourself a snow chappy? I love those scenes of American wilderness, trees, wolves absolutely great! Or, have I seen too many movies? Andrew | | | |

| | I don't think you have watched too many movies. I work for the forestry service, and the woodlands are wonderful, and they are beautiful when they are covered with snow. I have built me a snowman, and made a snow angel. Normally I'm out playing in the snow with my dog, she loves it too. | | | |

| | I'm dreaming of a.... Rainy Christmas! Yep, I live in the UK too and I can't remember the last time we had a white Christmas, correct me if I am wrong, late 70s? Possibly early 80s? We hardly ever get snow, I live about 25km from London and maybe it's the global warming affect because you could always guarantee snow in the Winter and certainly Christmas time, but now, it's rare as rocking horse shite! But trouble is when it does snow we can't cope with it! Not like other countries! It's like OMG snow, and the authorities fail to act sooner, but then with the weatherforecasters always getting it wrong LOL! I think I should move to a colder climate, because I am not a heat person, so you coming out for a snowball fight then? | | | | | | |

| | Oh, those rainy christmases, we get far too many of those!! Yes, I think that's about right, snow in the 70s and early 80s, I certainly have good memories of snow in those days! This global warming thing is a real pest, it's destroying all the good things in life, like snow! This Global warming thing is so bad in the North that the ice caps are breaking off in huge chunks and I wouldn't be suprised if a pola bear was on a raft of ice drifting our way!! As regards the snowball fight, I'll meet you somewhere in Alaska, perhaps we can do a bit of skiing too! Andrew | | | |

| | Ha ha! You can go on the piste on your own, I am not that adventurous! I'll watch from a safe distance, I am cowardly wolf and skiing doesn't enter my vocabularly! I'll help you build a snowman or have it ready whilst you ski, that sounds better! | | | |

| | I live in the US, in Western Pennsylvania and by the time Christmas gets here, I'm usually sick to death of snow! Last year my kids had so many snow days from school, we thought they were going to have to extend the school year. Luckily, they had scheduled enough days off to make them up. I love snow on Christmas because it's really beautiful, but I could do without it, or with less of it, other than that. | | | | | | |

| | We can swop environments for a short while! I'll stay in Pennsylvania and you can take in London! I think that's the thing with any kind of weather, you can definitely have too much of one thing and it becomes nothing but a pest after a while. Still, come Christmas I don't mind spraying some of that fake snow around, it's not the real stuff but it will do for two days every year! Andrew | | | |

| | i live in the philippines and in here, the climate is stinkin hot. and i would be more than willing to travel just to touch snow. hehehe... my cousin is living in massachusetts and initially, she was excited to see snow. but then it accumulated and it started to make her life crap. she has to clear her driveway everyday because if she didn't even for just one day, a wall of snow will be created. | | | | | | |

| | I think that I would find it very difficult to live in the Philippines as I'm not used to tremendous heat! I hardly see any snow at all and I would relish some snowfall, at least once during the remaining days I have left of my life! I would love to experience what your cousin experienced, for a short time anyhow. It probably would become a bit much as you say. Andrew | | | |

| | Well I used to live in The Netherlands, and there hasn't been snow over there for YEARS! Well, there has been some wet snow, which usually melted away in a few hours! Luckilly, I do live in Hungary now, where there's a really hot climate (usually in summer 50 Celcius!! And a very very COLD winter! (round MINUS 15 Celcius!!) Last year, there was many snowfall here, and even the power went out on christmas! It was a real blizzard, and we weren't even able to get out the house..I believe there has fallen down around 1 meter of snow in just 2 days! It was chaos out here, but the children loved it, and I as well! Luckily, there isn't THAT many snowfall here, but every year, there's at least 40 cm of snowfall, which ofcourse is lovely. I recommend everone to go on holiday to Hungary..it's really a beautiful country! | | | | | | |

| | I shall definitely keep Hungry on my top ten list of countries where there is snowfall! I envy all of these descriptions of such beautiful snowfall! Is there anything that can be done so that London starts receiving some? Anyway, Christmas doesn't seem like Christmas without the snow here, it just seems like yet another day. I guess some of the Christmas movies help as they are always showing picturesque snow scenes! Andrew | | | |

| | haha yes I know exactly what you mean!! How about transporting snow in 100 cooling trucks, and then transport it to your house? LOL! You could as well use fake snow! It's a good second option for snow! It's cold, it's white! So exactly the same! LOL If you have google earth, then zoom in on Nagyváty, hungary! You will find a beautiful picture, token when there was that many snowfall! It's about in the middle of my village! Really 2 beautiful pictures! And a good thing about HUNGARY (With the A!! :p) is that it's not even far away from England! From Holland, it was only 1400 KM! | | | |

| | I lived in NJ for 5yrs. i used to love the snowy days, even though i had some falls, and hated digging my car out, but i still enjoyed it, beautiful when it's falling. i live in florida now, not even cold anymore, answer to your question, yes, i do miss the snow. | | | | | | |

| | Florida sounds nice. I'm sure they must have one of those fake snow centres though where you are, where they do the indoor skiing and so forth! Do you travel then to somewhere where there's snow at Christmas? I guess that's the thing to do if you really want to experience snow and ice, perhaps a polar bear or two!! Andrew | | | |

| | Hi Andrew...I have to tell you a little something about snow. It sucks! It is nice to look at but absolutely no fun to try to dig your car out of..especially with a bad back. And my idiot neighbors like to plow my car under, so it is 100 times worse! The snow flies off of the roof of my apartment and piles up in front of my door and I cannot get out of the house. There is only one way in and one way out..so I am trapped. Do you think that anyone would come over & shovel me out..UM..NO...Last year, it piled up about 2 feet in front of my door and my poor baby couldn't even get out to pee...he had to pee inside by the door! I called my landlord for help and he actually told me that I needed a babysitter and to quit whining! He forgets that I am on disability..I told him about it about a year later and he did apologize. Noone thinks that I need any help because my disability is not visible, I just have severe back problems! So, no, I hate the snow! I want to move to South Carolina ASAP! Have a Splendid Day! | | Hi Tracy, I'm sorry to hear about your unpleasant experiences in relation to snow! That's a real difficult thing when you are suffering with a disability and you have to do everything yourself. There are a lot of insensitive people around who tend to overlook disability at times. I would probably love the snow at first but then I guess, like yourself I would eventually become sick of it. Is South Carolina much warmer? Andrew | | | |

| | Thank You Andrew! From what I hear, SC only has about one month of winter a year! I come from a ski resort area, so you know that it is cold & we get snow! I don't like the cold either! My problem with the whole disability thing is, I don't look the part...You'd never think I had anything wrong with me if you saw me. Therefore, people just assume that I can take care of things by myself..I cannot! I really wish that I could! You have yourself a splendid day as well Andrew! And, do me a favor & fix my computer issues in your free time...you never did tell me where you get the smileys! Oh & I forgot that I was going to send this next letter w/out fixing anything...I'll do it next time & don't go thinking I am an idiot when you try to decipher it...just check it out& see what I have to constantly deal with OK? Bye for now! :o) <<<< my smiley face :o( See Ya | | | |

| | I guess there has to be a nice balance with all kinds of weather! Some snow, some rain, some wind and lots of sunshine! There's just so much fun to be had when there's snow! You can build snowmen, you can throw snowballs! You can even slide down a hill on one of those bits of plastic, I forget what they call those!! I hope that we get some snow this Christmas.
