Dear Im so Bored, Mom I am so bored, Why Is Everyone So bored?

Clearly, I'm an authority on this subject!! When I first started on here, I had just been laid off from work and I had a lot of sudden spare time on my hands. Job search / interviews don't take up a full work week! I absolutely took advantage of free events, but the fairs and carnivals and whatnot in my area were largely on weekends or nighttime. I was having a hard time filling my days, and unfortunately I was only able to put a maximum of $%-$10 in my gas tank a week! As time went by I readjusted to having this much spare time, I saved up and bought a bike, some tennis racquets, etc... Got a part time job (thank god!!) and of course now the boredom is less! I don't think that boredom is rampant in the world, but yes, I think on a site like this you will see it in more places than others. I would never have even checked it out if I wasn't SOOOOBORED But I'm glad I did!

Maybe they are all bored because they are at home, on the computer. They need to get out if they are able, especially on a weekend night. I'm with you, I have some limits, but I will leave the chair and go do something else if I am bored

I used to hear this all of the time from my daughter. She now has a car and a job and goes to school. she does not have the time to be bored anymore. I work seven days a week on and offline so I never get bored, LOL.

I think many parents have felt obligated to provide their kids with entertainment such as video games, internet, tv etc. I see it a lot. Being a single mom, we didn't have much of that stuff in our home and none of my girls are overly into any of those things. There was a point, however, where I had to limit the internet for my girls when we first got it. At first they didn't like the restrictions but soon I saw they were finding ways to keep themselves entertained. I really don't understand boredom. I was unable to walk for months when I was 5 due to a accident. My dad was wonderful. He read to me regularly, which taught me an appreciation for books. He also bought me a radio and a record player...music. TV was not a babysitter. I don't know but things were so different back then. For me, boredom is an indication that I need to make some changes in my life and I do. You mentioned the library. For me and my girls...that is a sure way to beat boredom. I hear things like public librarys are soon to be a thing of the past and internet books are the way to go. It makes me feel sad. I hope it's not true! What will I do in the waiting room? I don't know hatley. I just don't get bored and I get asked all the time , "when are you going to get a life?" all because i don't go out and party etc. I love being home!!

I'm with you Hatley. I think being bored is a self indulgence because people are too idle to get off their backsides and find something to occupy themselves with. There's always something to do, and if you get yourself busy your mind will soon find something new to think about and shake the feeling. The only time that I would describe myself as feeling 'bored' is when I'm at home with the little one and he won't let me get on with anything. Even then though, I know that the bored feeling is a state of mind that I could rapidly shake off if I put some effort into it.

Now adays it seems we need constend stimulation of some sort .t.v.computer, or we are on the phone I never seem to have enough hours in the day to do the things I would like to ,we have so many choices ,things to do that I for one never get that bored feeling .cheers

People get a lot of ideas every now and then.They may be harmless and very legal too.But they hesitation to execute their desire because they are damn scare of the consequences from the society. They are not bold enough to take the criticism in their stride.This makes them to stick to their beaten track and thus gets bored up easily.Poor things they do not know that they cannot love for the whims and fancies of others.

Hi Hatley, I don't get time to get bored and nor do my kids, yesterday even though raining we put on our wellies and waterproofs and went of to the beach for a couple of hours walking, with Ziggy the new pup too. It was exhilirating rather than 'I'm bored and its raining' Like you if nothing on TV, chores done or really can't face them I will get on here instead and look for some good discussions to answer or search the web for information that I need. I think people expect too much and its the simple things that actually matter more anyway. At the library en route you get to meet with people and the same for me on the beach, everyone says hi. There is always a good book to read if really stuck at home like you are a lot of the time. Huggles. Ellie :D

Yes, I think you are so right. It is at such a risk to not be cool now days that kids cannot possibly utilize what God gave us- an imagination. It is sad but so true.

Hey hatley, I'm with you. I don't get bored. I can always find something to do. I have no problem staying at home. I also don't go out much. I can find plenty of things inside to keep me busy. Or as you say, I can go for a walk or I can always mylot. I don't understand the people on here who say that they are bored. Actually, those people bore me! I too am tired of people saying that they're bored. Then find something to do! Don't start a discussion crying and whining about being bored! That's a boring discussion and doesn't warrant responses!

If I get bored, which is rarely, I just do something. There are books to read, people to meet, things to do. If a person is constantly bored maybe there is a medical problem.

i feel bored when i am asked to do teh same thing over and over again. if that happen, i will try to walk around or talking to a friend. or i will watching tv, read books or going somewhere

I get bored at some times. Its just the days where i feel dull. When i get bored i usually try and find things to do. Sometimes, i can't find things to do so i just go outside. Have a walk while thinking what to do until i thought of something i come back and do it. Every single time i get bored and try and think what to do, but i can't. I feel like i've wasted my life.

I think we live in a society of instant entertainment. We're used to being able to press a button and have comedy, drama, or any other type of entertainment thrown at us in excess. Move your fingers a bit, and you have access to nearly anything that anyone in the world wants you to have access to. Be it video, pictures, discussion, or debate. We live in a technological society where we're surrounded by boredom-killers. Once we get used to it, it's hard to find new ways to ward off boredom. But then again, who says it's not entirely natural to be bored? Perhaps boredom dates back to cavemen and has always been just as abundant.

I get out and about when I'm bored, even if it's just window shopping or taking a walk down the road. I surf online, or watch a movie, or read a book when I'm bored.

LOL--there are times I have to admit I'm bored...and for me that seems to be a good thing...I tend either to get a sudden inspiration of creativity or I putter around my computer and discover things I didn't know about it before (like discovering that my Mac Computer Pages word processor does indeed have a word count ..something my die-hard Mac computer friend didn't even know about..LOL)..I'm especially good at finding new things to do in my Photoshop.

Sometimes we cant avoid it that we get tired of doing almost the same thing everyday. So there is a lot of reason why people get bored. For me i dont actually just sat the whole time on my pc or watch tv when i feel bored. I usually went out doing a lot of stuff like planting in my yard or just strolling around in the neighborhood. During weekend we also spend time swimming or do something interesting. That made me divert my attention to interesting stuff.

Maybe everyone is bored because they are spending too much time on mylot. I guess its time we all shut off the computer and see whats going on in the world. Bored the word itself is bore .. To live happily we have to make the life interesting no one else is going to make that.... Its totally depends on what kind of person you are . some people thinks that some one else will come and make them happy its never happens.. if you want not to be bore then you hav to interect your friends or whomever is ... No one else can make you happy unless and until you wanted....... so its totally depends on the person himself.........
