Indoor or Outdoor Children... ... ... |
|
I wondered whether anyone who has children has indoor or outdoor children?
I personally was an outdoor child, I could not bear to be in the house any longer than I had too and was always off on adventures with my friends!
When I had my first son he was an indoor child even though I would take him outside at every possible chance, he was not interested in the outdoors at all and much preferred to be indoors. The troubles I had trying to get him to go out and play with other kids through the years but he was just not interested, he would go through stages where he would go out but often as not indoors. He is 17 now and still the same he would much rather be indoors. I have three other children now too and they are exactly the same, getting them out of the house for anything other than school is just a nightmare they are not interested!! Even in the summer I have to literally carry them through the door to get them out.
This morning I took my daughter in the garden to play ball, she lasted just over ten minutes before disappearing back into the house lol, mind you it is cold here just lately.
So how about your children, are they indoor or outdoor children? Do you have trouble keeping them in the house or trouble getting them through the door like me?

3. Raven7317 (313) | 11 months ago | I was an outdoor child,I loved being outside, year round.
My son is an outdoor child too. I just started taking him outside when he was only a few months old. It was easy, bc he was born in Aug, so I started taking him for walks that summer and fall. That first winter, I kept him indoors most of the time, but since then, it's outside if we can.
Now that I'm older, I admit, I hate being cold and could live without being outside when it's less than 50 degrees. But, my son doesn't care and loves to play so I bundle up and head out.
I think it's good for them! There's so much to learn from being outside, in every season. So as long as I can keep him (am me) warm enough, I have a packet of tissue in my pocket, we go outside. We spent the afternoon the other day building a snowman and sliding down our driveway in the sled. It was fun.

4. SuzyQ12 (1893) | 11 months ago | I was an indoor child myself. My first son is much the same as I. I would perfer and still do, to be inside cooking and cleaning. I just can't stand a messy house. My youngest son has always been an outdoor person. He would go out the first chance he got. My sons are like night and day. They are both great sons, and I wouldn't have them any other way than the way they are.

5. all4ucnc (694) | 11 months ago | My son is an outdoor child, always has been. He gets cabin-fever in the winter when he cant play outside. He's almost unbearable.
But my daughter could stay in her room reading and playing on her own with out a care. Thats me. I love to read and I don't mind staying in. My son is like my husband, always on the go, and always outdoors.

6. lilybug (15280) | 11 months ago | I was an outdoor child when I was little, but the older I got the less I liked being outside. My son is not much of an outside kid. He would rather be inside on the computer. My daughter though would rather be outside all day every day. She hates it when I make her come back inside.

7. antioxidant (401) | 11 months ago | I was an outdoor child even though i have an introverted personality. Because, at a young age we're often less reserved and can make friends relatively easily. So i made friends with a lot of extroverted people and ended up doing activities with them. They participated in sports and such and i followed along and that made me want to do more and more, i would feel restless at home. Then gradually as i get older the people i meet change. They are the friends i still have now; from high school; and they are more of an indoors people. They are pretty much more studious, which is more of my type. I don't have children but most of my young cousins are outdoor children who like to get active.

gemini_rose (10117) | 11 months ago | I think if my kids had friends that came around or played out then they would probably be different, but the parents of other kids are very protective of them and do not let them out of their sights. I mean one of mine is 8, at 8 I was never in always out with my friends but none of my sons friends are allowed to come out alone yet.

8. TessWhite (2028) | 11 months ago | When my son was young he was definitely an outdoor child. It didn't matter what the weather was like. If it was snowing he'd build snow forts. He apparently got that from me because I was the same way as a child. Unfortunately his two girls, my granddaughters, never seem to leave the house. I'm going to try to change that soon. LOL Once I'm within visiting difference with my move I'll have them out learning how to garden, girlee tea parties on the grass, and afternoon picnics at the local park. Time to get the girls into the fresh air, and time they learned that the real world can be much more entertaining than the virtual world.

gemini_rose (10117) | 11 months ago | I reckon if we had a snow season then they would want to be out in that, but the last couple of years we have had no snow really at all, not enough to play in but also we just get a lot of rain. I think that was the start of them not even wanting to play in the garden.

9. littleone3 (1304) | 11 months ago | My 17 year old son also prefers to stay indoors and play on the computer or game system. Occasionally my 15 year old son will venture outside and have a game of footie with my younger children or have a bounce on the trampoline. But only when the weather is good. My three youngest who are 11,8 and 2 I cannot keep them in they just love being outside. I think they enjoy the freedom. My daughter(the 11 year old)loves doing cross country and it doesn't matter to her how cold it is she will still do it.
