Why don't they turn on their signal light earlier? Real Irresponsible!!!~

Was traveling on a straight road yesterday & everyone was going fast. This car that wanted to turn right came so near then suddenly turned from the middle lane!@#^#& What next? My bike went straight under the front right car skirting & that sent me summersaulting over his car bonnet. It was a good thing my helmet was padded enough as I could remember how many rounds I banged my head & rolled on the floor. My helmet was full of battle scars, hahaThankk God the visor didn't break but I got an extra "eyebrow" on my foreheadAgain it's just a minor scrath, thank goodness. Nearly passed out due to the concussions%#@$!$ Why do majority people don't turn on their indicator until like when they reach the junction - turn on the indicator for turning on sakes & just turn in even without looking at the rear mirror?!

Yet another reason for Me not to want to buy a Motorbike! Glad that You survived,though..That gets me when driving my car too...Here in Northern Ireland,we go to a probationary period of 12 months immediately on passing the driving test, replacing the "L" plates with "R" Plates (R for restricted..) Last week,an R driver, who you'd sort of expect would have the highway code still fresh in their minds, went past me going around a roundabout without using their indicators! Are they trying to save their battery or do they think everybody else on the road is psychic, that we know when and where they're going to turn?

Yeah, they think that we can read mindsIn our place it's the same - L license ( Learning ) for 12 months, P license ( probation ) for 2 years, then they can take that down & it's the normal license. I've been a very careful rider like I've mentioned. This is my 3rd accident in my 10 years of riding. Hope it'll remain the last one for the many years to come

I agree with my countryman Rosdimy here - they hide behind the "P". I remembered once my friend hit somebody & they guy landed on his car windscreen but I think he wasn't really penalized much except for a few demerit points although it was a court case? I guess it's something like some people run away by just serving detention as juvies Save battery - the economy must have hit them so bad; psychic - they must have watched too much movies

I think you are right on both counts. They want to save their battery and they think other drivers are psychic. Maybe the other driver thought as an experienced user you have the instinct to guess what he was going to do. Over here in Malaysia there is a probation period (P) of two years. There is no restriction of any kind. There are drivers who hide behind the 'P' sticker to justify their excessiveness which they claim as unintentional mistakes.

Hello zweeb82! Oh my God! Are you sure it really happened to you? Is that the reason why I didn't see you here yesterday? Well, I am not a driver and I haven't drive a car yet, but all I can say is that people are too reckless when driving. I guess others would just want to prove that they are the best driver in town. I do really hope that the government would be more strict about this. There are lots of accidents on the street and it's because of some reckless drivers around.

OMG I can't believe that happened to you. People are a$$es that is the reason. I swear today I was going 30 on a 25 MPH road when a teenager came flying up behind me so close I almost screamed. Then as I approached a stop sign and started to slow, he actually kept flying at me (didn't slow at all) then suddenly turned left by going into the opposite lane - all before I even had time to stop at the stop sign. What a jerk! He would have gotten a ticket or worse - someone could have been crossing the street and he would have whacked them because he did not wait for his turn to stop. When I see people like this, I just wish I had the power to get cops on them instantly.

Life to them is worth nothing, all they want is just the thrill of the moment - that's why they behave the way they behave. Sometimes I feel that the age for them to have a license is too early but then again it's not about age but about maturity

Yep it's about maturity for sure. I've seen bad drivers of all ages - like the parents on cell phones AND smoking AND riding my butt while their kid sits next to them... I wish you could give tickets for stupidity

Yeah, I know what you mean. There are lots of such jerks around. And the amazing thing is, they get away with it! Thank goodness you are safe! I sure hope that fella will be more considerate when he is on the road the next time. Meanwhile, keep your safety distance and drive safe yah!

Thank goodness you came out of that ok and are here telling us about it! I have never learnt to ride a scooter or motor-cycle. I hate them. I have only been a passnger on one once. They might be quicker than a car but so many who use them don't reach their destinaton Here especially in the sumer it's one accident after another. I don't even get my cycle out these days as everyone is so careless. They open car doors without even looking if someone is ariving. Hope you have something different to tell us next time and never read again that you've had to go through something like this

They certainly would! I don't know whether the westerns get their ideas from real life or whether it is real life copying them but I have seen the car door incident too many times and it never ends without cuts and bruises

Ouch - on the cuts & bruises part!~ Yeah, I wonder was Hollywood "inspired" by the real life incidents or the other way round - Hollywood infiltrating the people & they all now want to be Hollywood stars? Haha

Yeah, hope I have better news to tell the next time, hahaIn fact it's a miracle I'm recovering very fast considering it's only Day 3? I really thank God for that. Wow, I guess what they depict in the western movies are real true then ( referring to the car door thingy )? So far I haven't seen any of such cases happening here. Actually, hope it'll never happen here. The road would be a safer place if everyone was careful

That, unfortunately, is the way most of the drivers in our country behave. I can make a comparison because I rode a motorcycle for four years when I was in London. Most of them seem to forget the functionality of the vehiccle they are driving or riding. For that reason rear or side mirrors are there for decoration purposes. Signal lights are pretty objects, not for use prior to making a turn. These people expect other drivers and riders to respect them while they show scant respect to the others. We are supposed to give way to them. I wish our government would be more strict on this matter. all the best in your riding, rosdimy

Yeah I do agree with you, it's the attitude of the drivers in our country. I like the way you put it - decoration purposes!~ HahaI'm actually a very careful bike rider though I should say at times I can be a bit fast if I'm on the rush but I try not to do that. This is my 3rd accident in my 10 years of bike riding. The 1st one I should admit that I was careless in my beginning years. The 2nd one was a few years back, similar to this incident but it was on the other side - I was going straight minding my own business approaching the traffic light & I was going very slow when this Indian guy just cut in from the middle lane so fast & turned left. It was a hit & run case that made me even more furious but what could I do? Couldn't get the license as it happened so fast

I take calculated risks as well but yesterday was too sudden as the guy was in the middle lane, remembered that he needed to turn, put his signal on & just turned so fast, the sudden turn kind you know like the stunts in movies, hahaMy forehead is all right, just minor scratches. Just a few major bruises but I thank God I didn't land on my spine as it was just a few inches away to my right lower back that I landed.

Sometime last year I clipped the right mirror of a bike. She was riding at a slow speed, less than 30km/h. On approaching a corner I took evasive action because I expected her to do something. I was right. Without turning her head she suddenly cut across the lane like you (most probably) and I used to do at corners. There was no way I could avoid her because it was a one lane road. Luckily she did not fall down but she did move to the side. The driver behind me went into the opposite lane. So what did she use her side mirrors for? How is your forehead? I take calculated risks. Several times I beat much younger riders who were showing off in heavy traffic at the hills.

i can understand what you are saying... some drivers can really be so irresponsible and my hubby also almost have near miss accidents because of them... i really hate drivers who turn on their indicators or even worst didn't turn it on at all and then just change lanes suddenly... it is really annoying and very dangerous... sorry to hear about what happen to you... hope you will recover soon... take care and have a nice day...

Hmm, there are those who don't turn them on & once they hit someone they turn it on. I've witnessed that kind as well. It was a good thing though the person who was hit stood firm & said he only saw them turn on after the indicator was hit. Ah well, these kinds of people are the same anywhere around the world I guess, hahaThanks for the well wishes, in fact I'm miraculously recovering at a fast pace. I can walk faster now compared to I was limping yesterday

Oh my goodness. That was a close one. Good thing you are alright. I have seen too many drivers do just what you are complaining of, wait until the last minute to let you know they are making a turn. And you are right it is irresponsible. After all don't you know when it is that you are going to make a turn? Once again, good to know you are ok.

Yup, a real close one. Like I mentioned to someone earlier, in fact it's a miracle that I'm recuperating so fast considering this is only the 3rd day. Except for a couple of major bruises & a few minor one, I'm able to walk better compared to the 1st day where I was limping as I had to put more pressure on my left leg to balance as my right side is the part that I'm injured. If the guy was on the right lane, then I could have avoided him but he was in the middle lane & made that sudden turn. I think it was a last minute decision as the building he was turning into had 2 exits which one of them is also used as an entrance which is quite confusing

For now I am not driving because I do not have a car. But boy do I know what you mean some people just do not pay attention when they are driving. I live in a small city and it seems when I go into a bigger city they drive better than people in a little city. At least where I am from, you know people on their cells I think is one reason why they drive stupid. I myself have used my cell driving before but when I get a car again if I need to talk I will just pull over. I do not want to hurt someone because I am on my cell. Also people text when they drive and that is a no no, I did that too but I will never do that again because I did almost hit someone and I would never want to hurt someone while I was driving. Especially when I could have prevented it. Nice discuss and happy mylotting to you.

Yeah, sms while driving - there are crazy people doing that here as well, no offense. We've even seen people on the motorbike & ALSO BICYCLE doing that!!! That's really absurd. Talking on cell phones are very dangerous too, which we do not have any less, hahahaI guess it's the same every corner of the globeYeah, also agree on the big city & small town thing. We always say when people from the other states come to our state & drive here, especially people from the big city, they just don't know how to drive here as people from our state are not the courteous type. They park everywhere & the police never come & tow the vehicles or even clamp them. Some can just stop in the middle of the road & just go buy some food from the hawker stalls from the roadside. It's like you name it, we have it

I always remember to use the indicators, I guess it's an in-built habit as I always think that what it would be the other way round when someone forgets to turn them on like in this case as I wouldn't want that to happen to someone else
