I caved!  

I don't think I would last a week with dial up internet! I have become very attached to my high speed service. I can't think of a time when downgrading turned out to be counterproductive. I have had to drop services in order to save money, and it has turned out the opposite. Last summer we dropped cable TV. I thought that wouldn't last long, but it has been great! We tend to get TV series on DVD from the library or NetFlix, so now I don't have to watch commercials! :)

I think that is why it's not so easy to save money. You are not upgrading just because you can't wait for the speed or that you can't adjust your schedule. This is a matter of making money not losing it.

Sometimes washing the clothes in a washer beats going down to the stream to save electricity, water, etc. It's just more efficient.
Sounds like you are getting settled and doing well. I hope your cable hookup works well.

I could never go back to dial up service. It is so slow. It would drive me crazy. My DSL seems slow at times. I would have to tweak the computer or super boost it. Do they have turbo boost power for computers? LOL

usually no, though I can't imagine going back to dialup. But with me it was even worse than that. I not only had dial up, my dial up was web tv. And when it seemed to be getting slower - unbarably. Not only that, web tv could not pull up anything site that used java. Most videos would not play. So I was on e-bay one day and saw a laptop that was listed for $252.00. I decided to bid $310.00 I won it by $5.00. So I got that, ordered DSL. I remember being amazed that I could be online and hearing the phone ring.
But no, usually when I downgrade to save money, it has not been counter productive. Like buying a can of coffee that costs 5 or 6 dollars rather than 10 or 11.

Personally, I've never downgraded anything to save money. With internet, I know I could never downgrade. I've had cable internet for at least 5 years or more and I couldn't ever go back!
When my hubby and I go to buy a house, internet access will be a deciding point on whether or not I want to get it.. or I may even have to buy one of those broadband things from Verizon.

I have dial up at home until they change the telephone wires and it is a right royal pain. I prefer to reach work earlier and go on line her and at lunch time too rather than use dial up. You made the right decision as it is very necesary for you as you earn money on line. I am very happy for you. You will be in seventh heaven again! Blessings

With all the features and enhancements on the internet, I do not think there is any use with dial up connections. Though it may be cheaper but it just would not be beneficial in the long run.

So, I would still recommend that you should never undermine the benefits of the broadband connection. Not if you are working heavily online.

Not that I can remember, but I can remember what it was like to have a dial up connected. I hate every minute of it. Every webpage took forever to laod. I spent more time waiting for it to load then actually doing anything more useful on the net. Of course at the time I was living on my own & couldn't afford anything better. Then when I got married my husband insisted that we get DSL. He hated dial up & refused to use it. I was more then happy to give in. I hope I never have to go back to dial up ever again.

I was on it for most of my net life. Till just this year, actually. I would click on something, do a bit of housework, click, housework, it was so much fun. Phft! This is actually $10 cheaper, and the net has never been more fun!

Been there, done that, don't even care to talk about it.
I wouldn't have lasted a week. I'm sure of it!
