When you cook, do you hurt yourself?

Hi gardengerty.

I've also had some minor accidents in the kitchen. I've cut myself on some occasions not only during the preparation process but also when washing knives and other sharp items. I've also had burns from hot oil splashes..it hurts so much especially when it hits my face. I wish I could have a shield and a mask when I'm frying to avoid those splashes.

We just need to be very careful around the kitchen.

Well I am not actively involved in cooking food.
My mom and sister are doing it.
I have seen both my mom and my sister hurting themselves while cooking food.
Mostly burning and cutting.
I think only these two are most prominent ones in kitchen harms.
They have experienced both of them in my presence.

I haven't tried to hurt myself so much, only when I will fried fish or pork and I will be running away to escape from those hot oil! LOL!

I did something totally stupid the other day! I had fixed a pan of cornbread in my iron skillet. I took it out of the oven, and turned the cornbread out onto a plate, then sat the pan down on an empty stove burner to cool. A few minutes later, I needed that burner for something and without thinking, started to grab the handle to scoot the skillet out of the way! Thankfully, I only burned the inside of my ring and middle finger.

The girls had some after sun lotion for sunburns. I put some of that and it took the sting out immediately and it didn't even blister!

i have done this many times, cutting myself on knives, burning my hands in the oven scalding myself with hot water, when ever i am in the kitchen i always wind up hurt....

Yes i usually hurt myself while cooking. I always get burn. The worse thing that happen to me is while im cooking leche plan, i got burn by the a hot syrup on my leg.

For sure melting sugar creates one of the most dangerous things in the kitchen. I have had my share of burns, cuts and other mishaps while cooking

I'm glad that you are ok=). It's terrible that you got hurt. It almost never get hurt, but the one time, I got burned by cooking oil in the fryers (where I used to work). As it turns out, someone left the fryers on overnight=(.

I am bad with knives I dont know why I dont do it on purpose luckily my husband is home more now so he cutes everything for me. One time I was preparing dinner and I was cutting and dicing some vegies and the knife slipped and it got my hand pretty good it was bad I had to stop what I was doing and call an ambulance luckily I didnt have to go the hospital they were able to use the knew kind of stiches its like a gel then they bandage it up for me and I went to the doctor the next day it healed up fine but that was scary.

I was very clumsy the other week, don't know why but i slipped on our bathroom and hurt my butt and later that day i burnt my hand while cooking pizza roll. Maybe i was too relax that i overlooked the handle where my hand stick. I thought it will not going to give me that bad scars but as i look at it right now, i was so wrong because i had now an ugly scar which looks like a burnt from cigarette. Well i am still hoping that this scar will be gone in a few months. So i am very hopeful. I am applying cream to lessen the scars.
