What's The Worst Baby Name... |
|
It seems like all the time I’m hearing more and more exotic or down right strange names parents are giving their kids. Now, everyone has a right to name their kids what they want but I’m wondering if some of these parents really think about it.
Here’s some examples: Megatron, Hitler, Satina Kay Heather Danielle (first name and three middle names), Victory and Smurfette.
I can’t really imagine naming a kid any of these names. The Satina name is nice but I think the three middle names is way too much… I think that any name, like Hitler, that has a lot of stigma attached to it is wise to avoid too.
What is the most bizarre name you have heard? What is a name that you would never, ever name your child?

Kashmeresmycat (1276) | 4 months ago | Those were the two I thought of right off the bat, hahaha!! Yeh, those are kinda strange now aren't they!

eltobh (171) | 4 months ago | Lol..moon unit is a big no. I like Dweezil, though..sounds cool to me. Don't forget Frank's other child's name: Diva Muffin..goshh.. I wonder why he couldn't name them a bit normal like his other son, Ahmet.

2. sndcain36 (2645) | 4 months ago | Megatron....LMAO....
Hitler is the reigning king of bad names. Seriously, you just can't get worse than that.
Penn Gillette, though I love him, has the worst taste in kid names:
He named his daughter Moxie CrimeFighter and their son Zolton Penn. It just goes to show that celebrities live in their own world.

3. catdla1 (2620) | 4 months ago | There certainly has been a plethora of silly sounding names for the last 20 or 30 years. I wonder how many of these kids have changed their names to something more 'normal'? That's something that you don't hear too much about. Perhaps these people embrace the uniqueness of their names...who knows? One name that I wouldn't name my child would be Judas.

4. strawberrychocodahi (2470) | 4 months ago | Oh my goodness, Megatron? as a name i was laughing real hard. I can name that to my dog or pet at home, but for my baby to be, nnnnoooooo way, even in my dreams, i would never name them that.
Aside from the names you have mentioned, I also would include that parents should not name their baby like Judas and Ichabod . You know that people would always be talking to you about your controversial name.
From the time you were born, the nurses and doctors would laugh about it, till their teachers in school, classmates, friends and what else neighbors. If they were such an avid fan, then keep it to themselves and suffer not the kids by giving them funny and silly names. Much more suited to pets. Imagine calling your son Megatron and the neighbors reaction would be, hmmm where's Optimus Prime

6. coolcoder (1453) | 4 months ago | "Apple" is probably one of the worst names I've ever heard, as is "Frances Bean". Frances in not so bad, but "Bean"? Weird.
I've heard of that kid who was unfortunate enough to be named "Hitler," and honestly, I hope he gets it changed before too long. He'd be kicked out of every school he attended, no thanks to his parents.

|
zoey7879 (1254) | 4 months ago | Although, I do agree that Bean is weird... it was actually a nickname that was given to the girl before she was born for resembling a kidney bean in sonograms.

|
|
metschica25 (4800) | 4 months ago | Hello, Yeah I have never liked the name Apple as well ... It is a fruit people and that is all anyone will ever think about and worse it is not even unique . I like different less common names but nothing that would get the poor kid made fun of or think the kid is evil like Hilter.

|
|
carlas (135) | 3 months ago | My family nickname is Beans, and I love the name Olive.

7. ANTIQUELADY (11124) | 4 months ago | I don't want to start a big controvery here & NO, I am not racist at all but some of the names that black people come up with around here are ridiculous. In fact i had a close black friend whose daughter was expecting & she told her to name the baby something she could pronounce & spell. I don't understand why they think they have to do that.

8. Sweetchariot (950) | 4 months ago | Unfortunately these parents have no idea what the child will have to endure in his/her life because of the outrageous name they chose. I think it's awful that they don't consider all sides before choosing.
The names that I often were against when naming my child were those that sounding like an adult - such as, George, Lewis, Arthur, etc. I couldn't have imagine calling my baby one of those names, because they sound so adult....and relying on nicknames is not fair to the child having to explain away their real name.
| |
| |
|
|
lala501 (792) | 4 months ago | I agree, if I had a child, then I would name them like a child, not an adult. I have never seen a child walking around with a name like George, Lewis or Arthur. I seem to see more playful names, like Jessica or Anthony.
| |
|
|
Maggiepie (1448) | 4 months ago | "Anthony?" "Playful?" Whatever, I suppose.
But I disagree. Turn your premise around & look at it from the other side. When one is young, one can simply be called by a diminutive of one's "adult-sounding" name. "Robert" can be called "Bob" or "Bobby," e.g., & "Susanne" or "Susanna" can become "Sue" or "Susie." "Elizabeth" or "Margaret" or "Jonathan" can be shortened in many ways.
But how fitting is it for say, a nuclear scientist, banker, secret agent or president to be called "Timmy" or "Lizzie" or "Jon-Jon?"
No, one must be named something one can grow into, a name with dignity. If one chooses to retain the diminutive, that's easily done, & few would question an adult named "Betty," after all. But I seriously doubt a "Jon-Jon" or a "BeBe" would ever become president, let alone "Apple!"
I'm just sayin'....

lala501 (792) | 4 months ago | I see what you are saying. Pick your childs name and think about it as a childrens name, but also an adult name. Which I don't see how megatron is either, but whatever. How about Maxwell for an adult and Max for the nickname as a child?
| |
|
|
mommyboo (3277) | 4 months ago | That is what most people do though. Edward might be 'Eddie' and Thomas might be 'Tommy' or 'Tom'. Victoria might be 'Tori'. When these kids grow up, they may still use short forms, or they may want to get away from being thought of as young and then use their formal names. I use a short form of my name, I don't like formality. However, it is a short form that fits me, NOT a 'diminutive' form such as what you'd call a preschooler....
I think it's silly for a parent in 2009 to name their child 'Maude' or 'Alton' or 'Berniece', but it's just as silly to name them 'Kayleepooh'. You don't want to be the kindergartner named Maude in a class full of Madisons, Kaleys, Drews, and Eddies, but you also don't want to be Kayleepooh in your retirement living community with Stephen, Nicole, and Kaden lol.

indybaty (249) | 3 months ago | Thats a very true thing there, but about the OTHER way around? What names that parents pick for children that are TOO ADULT and when I mean too adult I dont mean classic names tha most elderly have but I mean names that you would pick for other things but definetly NOT for kids? Like for example, Temptress, Lovely?, I know this kid named Rod and parents call him Hot Rod...
And Im panamanian here, that is not even the most weirdest names Ive heard!

9. whiteheather39 (13269) | 4 months ago | Years ago I heard of one little girl who ended up being called Female because the father did not know what put for a name. It was pronounces Fee-maa-lay but I still don't think that helped much! I hope the poor kid changed it when she was old enough.

carlas (135) | 3 months ago | I went to school with a lot of "precious", "miracle", "forte", "angel" type of names, and i think yes, it is your choice to name your kid, but let me tell you---these girls werent precious, or angels, or anything like that!

jessigirl116 (538) | 3 months ago | Pardon me, I'd like to add my two cents. I had a friend in 8th grade named 'Freebase', I saw her birth certificate. I also knew a girl named 'Alberta Babygirl', everyone called her 'Tatiana', I don't know why. lol
Here's the best one yet- My cousin named her sons 'Kaos'(chaos) and 'Havoc'.
I almost named my first daughter 'Siouxsie' and my 2nd daughter was almost 'Karma'.
