Ever Have Someone Call YOU And Put YOU On Hold?

Hi singlemommy, Yes, I had a friend who done that to me and I sat there sistening to her talking to someelse who was with her so i put the phone down on her, she later rang me back and ask why I put the phone down on her, so I told her she was not speaking to me at the time, I told her that if she is going to ring me then talk to me. I don't like slitening to you talking to someone eles. Tamara

I don't put up with that. I can understand if it's a friend who had something come up when they called, especially those with small children but anyone else, no. I just hang up on them and don't answer their calls anymore. Now that my television announces who's calling I just ignore the phone.

Someone only ever did that to me once, and I hung up on them. When they called me back I asked them why the heck they called me only to put me on hold. I don't have call waiting specifically because I do not want to be interrupted while I am already using the telephone. my husband and I both agree that call-waiting is the annoying thing ever invented.

Hello singlemommy, Many times it happen to me especially while picking up the call in the office. Someone will call and then asks me to hold the line while she talks to another person on her mobile phone. I will do the same too - I put the caller on hold and let her listens to the music provided by the telephone operator until I know that she gets fed up waiting and then I will talk to her back!

Hi friend, That is just so ignorant. I have actually had a bill collector do that....Like I'm gonna stay on the phone and wait for the idiot. Some people just don't have any manners. I guess they were never taught. Yeah it annoys me big time. Cheryl

I don't play that game. It is rude. I am a busy person and my time is just as valuable as the person calling me. I don't hold. I hang up instead. If this person really wants to talk to me then they will call back when they actually have the time to talk to me.

Sure it would annoy me. I would tell them to call back when they were not so busy and I would hang up!

Yes, that's happened to me and I hang up on them. That's just so incredibly RUDE!! If they are expecting a call, they should stay off the phone and wait for it. My boys have each tried that and I treat them the same as everyone else, I hang up on them! If it's important, the person will call back. I expect a caller to ask if they can call me back if they have another call, why do they think I have time to waste waiting for them? It's probably just a social call anyway. We've come to consider social calls as important as business calls nowadays. That's stupid.

Yes my son does that to me ALL the time...and it irritates the heck outta me but since he is my son and i want to hear from him i put up with it...i am tempted to hang up on him but am afraid he wont call back....as he is in the navy i dont hear from him often. I am one of those people who will NOT pick up an incomming call if i am on the phone already....i can always look to see who it was after im done and call them back.... LOL heres a good one ...twice....a friend of my husbands has called him and when he answers the phone the guy say oh i cant talk now can i call you back later...ROTFLMAO!!! WTF???? YOU called me!!! Has THAT ever happened to you?

Yes, that has happened to me and I was really, really annoyed my time is precious to me and calling me up and making me wait to talk to the person who called me makes me very annoyed I don't have time to sit and wait for them to converse with someone else. If they want to call me they should be ready to talk to me when I answer the phone, if a salesperson or charity person does this to me then I am just going to hang up on them, if they are trying to get money out of me they better give me every ounce of respect they can muster, I will be lenient on friends and family, but if they keep me waiting too long I will hang up them too, they can call me back when they are able to talk to me.

I haven't had anyone put me on hold when they called me but I have had a two way conversation on the phone. My sister does that all the time, she'll call me and at the same time she's talking to someone else, so while I'm on the phone I have to listen to the conversation she's having with the other person. I think she's talking to me, and I'll answer her, but she wasn't even talking to me...sounds confusing..but yes it bugs me when she does that. I just want to tell her call me back when you get done talking to the other person..lol.

I think that would be very annoying. I would have probably just told them to call me back when they got through w/their other conversation.

It is very annoying. It happens to me sometimes and I just hang up. My time is just as valuable as theirs. If it's important they will call me back.

How did she finish the conversation with someone, and then talk to you an someone else at the same time? Were you actually on hold or was the other person in the same room with her, kinda confused. Anyways yes it is annoying...lol

Yes and it drives me nuts! My best friend in high school used to do that. She once kept me waiting for around ten minutes before I finally thought, what the heck am I worried about being rude? So I hung up then and when she called back she just couldn't understand why I hadn't waited. Puh-lease don't call me and then put me on hold. Now it seems my sister has picked up that habit.

I used to have a gal friend that was one of those that got calls constantly. She would call me (rarely) and then get that infernal beep in. She would excuse herself and go off the line. After a certain amount of time I would just hang up. Usually she would hang up. I don't know if she ever got the idea.

My daughter's grandmother does that very same thing when she talks to her on the phone. She is always talking to another person and puts my daughter on hold several times and finally my daughter will tell her to just call her back. Then she calls her back two days later. Happy Mylotting

Yes it is very annoying, and what i usually do when someone puts me on hold is just hang up, and they can call me back at a later time, when they are done talking to who ever is on the other line.

that certainly is very annoying. yes, i had an experience like that before. i had to tell the other party to call me back when he is ready. i was just annoyed that i had to stop what i was doing, only to be told to wait for some minutes. i wish people like that read our discussions here and learn that it annoys us.

Yes it happened to me but I happen to have done it to someone as well, although unintentionally. I'm sure the other person was annoyed. Cheers!
