What will you give them for Christmas?

I dont make lists of things I plan to buy because I dont really plan. I just buy things throughout the year as I see them. I like to buy things that will make people smile or have some particular significance & a few "useful" presents. When my son was at University I wrapped up an assortment of food items - some basics like beans and soup and other more 'luxurious' items that he would not have bought for himself. I have a book and an embroidered cushion for my friend. For close family, I usually try to get something from each of these categories: eating/watching/listening/wearing/playing/reading/toiletries/silliness

I've almost finished my Christmas shopping, plenty of toys and clothes for my kids (they don't need to know I paid for most of it by selling their old stuff!) Curling tongs for my sister, home accessories for my mum, a new wallet and novelty items for my dad, and a set of personalised towels for my grandmother. I already gave my partner his main Christmas present, I bought him a tool kit which he wanted but he didn't want to wait til Christmas. There are a few DVDs to go under the tree for him though.

I am short on money this Christmas so I bought everything at a second hand book shop, I have bought books for all, and they don't mind if they are second-hand, anyways I couldn't afford anything new so take it or leave it.

I don't buy gifts I get everyone together and take them to a nice dinner.

Well, I have no kids so that is not something I can help you with. My family actually does not live around me so it would be just my husband and maybe some small things for his family. We usually end up getting Gift Cards for his Mom and Step Dad and for his Dad and Step Mom, and I think anyone else we will see at Christmas we will give them Bags of Jerky from my Jerky Business.

Hi MsSnow, when my sister's kids were younger, I used to buy them toys. Now that they're schooling (junior and pre-school), I'm looking for books - stories, arts & crafts and so on. I think it's easier to buy for children. My sister's husband and brother love books, so I usually get them vouchers from the major bookstores. The biggest headache is buying for my husband and sister. Last year I got a wallet for my hubby, but couldn't think of anything for my sister, so I gave her cash instead. It's going to be another headache this year!

I am giving small gifts this year. I can't afford much. I am saving my money so I can attend my son's wedding in February. It will be a tight year for gift giving.

I buy books throughout the year to give my grandchildren for Christmas every year. I let their parents buy them toys. I usually make something for each of my five children. This year it will be jewelry and canvas bags for shopping. I don't spend a lot for Christmas because I have so many and am on disability. They don't seem to mind.

I haven't started a list yet, but I am planning on knitting cute hats for some kids I know, fingerless gloves for one of my friends, scarves for my other friends, and just a lot of books. I am going to give my sister a sweater from Old Navy, I knit my husband socks, and a travel mug for my husband. I don't know what else I will be doing.

I think I will also get some kind of model building set for my husband.

We started making our Christmas lists out today. I am glad you made this discussion because I need to look something up online for one the gifts. I need to finish the lists also.
