Is it just me and my hearing? Anyone else here notice how lately the music on some tv programs is so loud you cant hear what the people are saying. I really liked the Mentalist when it first came on. at that time i could hear what they were saying but i've had to give it up for most times i have no idea what they found out the background noise and music seemed more important to the producers. a couple times the same thing has happened with Bones, CSI, and others. Why is it so important for them to put the creepy and/or excited music on? we know something is happening for pete sake

hi bunnybon its the old trick of making us hear whether we want to or not, grrr. the same with the laugh tracks on some stupid sitcoms. i know, I know , some think they are great but anytime someone thinks they have to show me I am supposed to laugh, the sitcom is not a bit funny. thats why the loud music and loud laugh tracks. to me it is insulting my intelligence. I know that in bones And CSI there will be exciting scenes so why drill that into my head? I can think for myself. I like CSI so why overkill with the loud music? grrrr.

i really dont mind the music and background noise. i just think it shouldnt drown out the what they are saying. looks like the stars would gripe against that.

I've noticed that, too! It's really irritating--don't they have editors that view the final cuts and make adjustments?! (It's almost like the commercials that blast you out of your chair on the breaks.) I don't even like most of the music that much, especially when they put on the rap stuff--some of the music isn't even appropriate to the mood of the scene!

yes its like the music producers think its time we noticed them instead of watching the show. i was thinking that also. why dont they veiw these before showing them?

Yes, i find that on alot of shows. I am so thankful for the shows on the cable stations that repeat. I meant like a half a dozen times between the original showing and the next months episode. So then I get to watch it as many times as I want to and hear it all and understand what happened. Not so on the local stations.

I think there's one reason only, why the background music is so loud. If the viewer has run to the kitchen for a snack, or to the rest room, they network wants them back in front of the tv so that they don't miss the next commercial. The music no longer just sets a mood for the storyline, but is a siren calling us back the the tv.

what i mean to say is, like last time i tried to watch the mentalist, theres a couple of cops on there in love with each other. the music was so loud i couldnt even hear what they said about not letting others know then they were discussing whom they thought killed someone and why and you couldnt even hear that so i couldnt figure why they were asking this one guy questions or even who the heck he was

Hi bunny No you are not losing your hearing. It is true that they are making the music louder. My hubby will be watching something and he keeps turning up the tv, I ask him why and he says I can't hear what they are saying. I think the producers get caught up in the sound and forget just how loud it is compared to the voices. Let write and tell them to chill out a little..LOl..I doubt that would do any good..LOL Have a nice evening and keep smiling.

Last night my husband was watching a show and he started complaining about not being able to hear what they was saying for music in the movie. He too ended up changing the channel. I think if all did that with those kind of movies, just maybe they would get the hint..Who am I kidding...lol Keep smiling.

Thank you for your post bunny; I concur. This is very annoying and what is more are the commercials in between! One has to keep the remote in hand at all times so to hear but to then turn the volume down again because the music is blaring. Perhaps the fluctuation in volume is to express suspense, excitement or another feeling by the producers. Perhaps viewers need to group up and lodge complaints to the television stations with a carbon copy to the producers themselves. Just keep your remote handy for now. We don't want to impair out perfectly fine hearing. Cheers and Greetings to you.

Have remote control handy at all times. I just turn it down when a commercial comes on.

yes and i finally figured out that turning up the volume only serves to turn up the music and you still cant hear what they say at times

i just wish they'd standardize the volume from one thing to another. one channel's louder than another or a commercial's louder than the show i was just watching..it's annoying!

I've noticed that the quieter dialog is much harder to hear. I didn't pay attention to whether it was due to music or what. But I often find myself having to turn things way up to hear some dialog and then way down again.

Hmm. I haven't noticed that happening here (I am a big fan of the Mentalist and Bones myself). I do know that the music seems to get louder during the show when nothing is going on it seems... and boy when commercials come one! Geesh. Wonder if it is a problem with your cable company or something. I can imagine how annoying that would be!

I have a lot of difficulty hearing what they say too, thank god it's not just me -w- that's why I always watch western movies and TV shows with subtitles. Can you believe this? I'm watching it in English and still need ENGLISH subtitles to be able to understand what the hell is going on -w-

Yes u r right it often happens and i wonder if after makign the series if they check it themselves or not? As the background music is so high and loud that it could harm ur ears. One turns the volume up to try to listen what the characters are saying but actaully u r turning the music more loud.

There is defintely nothing wrong with your hearing, because if there is something wrong with your hearing, then the same thing is wrong with my hearing as well. Even moreso than the silly music during the television programs, the thing that really gets on my nerves is when you are watching a television program and you have the volume set the way that you like it and then when the commercials come on, they are so much louder than the volume of the television show that you've been watching.

I have never noticed that. Many times the show I'm watching is at one volume level, and a commercial will come on, it will be so loud, I have to scramble for the remote to turn the volume down.

oh yes the commercials have always been a problem. but lately the weekly shows have had loud music overcoming what the actors are saying. it may be due to the HD stereo of todays cable.

im not talking about the commercials. im talking about some of the programs i watch where you cant hear the actors speaking for the music playing in the background. i guess its just some shows because there are shows i never have a problem with.

Hi bunnybon, I have noticed that with the adverts here the music and the adverts themselves have gone really loud again. Since they have gone Digital here everything analogue has gone to pot. Sometimes you can hardly hear the program itself. I´ve noticed that with quite a few I don´t watch all of the but sometimes when they are showing the excerpts the sound is very poor indeed seems like we have gone back in time. Hugs. Sue.xxx

Then I visited doctor and he said is due to verticol problem. After sometime, its back to normal. I don't why.
