Glenn Beck just made an announcement that has me puzzled.  

Well, that's true, people become convinced of their own viewpoints and won't pay attention to any facts. I hope I don't become like that. I heard an interesting theory last night about the behavior of President Obama and I'm thinking about that theory although I find it unlikely. It states that all of his "dithering" and apologies are actually setting up the "enemy" to be overconfident and lack faith in his strength so he can bring the hammer down in one fell swoop and win the war. I wonder how legitimate that thinking is? Regardless, at least I will entertain other opinions. People like the liberals are so rigid, even when presented with new facts.

Dragon54U, that is one pathetic attempt to spin Obama in the right direction. Obama is a loser and should have nothing to do with our military or global issues. Community corruption and basketball is where he needs to focus his time.

djbtol, I'm pretty sure I know what Obama intends for this country and none of it is good! But my mind is open to possibilities because a closed mind is a dangerous thing and very limited. However, like the wise Will Rogers once said, I don't want a mind so open that my brains fall out.

I listen to Glenn on the radio in the mornings, it's different from his tv show. Tonight Judge Napolitano is hosting. The Christmas Sweater is only in theaters, not on TV, which is why I was so puzzled by his announcement--how could they interrupt the broadcast and is that truly what he was referring to? I guess we'll find out this evening or tomorrow.

I loved Christmas time when my kids were small, we so enjoyed all the specials on TV! Most of them were ones I watched as a child and could share with my own children.

We are free to say anything we wish about the president or other people, and thank God for that. He's also said some pretty nasty (and true) things about previous administrations. When we get into trouble for what we think and give voice to, we have lost our country and our freedom.

He opened his radio show this morning with that declaration. It made me wonder what's going on. The Harlem Gospel Choir already told him Monday that it was cancelling its participation, someone named James Rucker made it his mission to tell them that Mr. Beck "hates" Obama and he also convinced 80 sponsors to drop the show. The Choir says it was a financial decision so I'm not sure which is true but they have every right to perform where they want. After reading that and hearing his announcement at the top of his show I wonder if something is going to mess up the live transmission.

That is very interesting. There have been several incidences through history where broadcasts have been taken over. April 27, 1986 HBO had it's broadcast hijacked and for four minutes a written message was displayed over color bars. September 6, 1987 the Playboy channel was interupted for six minutes when the broadcast was replace by a black screen with a message in white text that said simply repent your sins. November 26, 1977 the ITN was airing its daily report in England when the audio feed dropped out and viewers heard the highly distorted voice of someone calling himself Vrillon of the Ashtar Galactic Command warning of nuclear war. On November 22, 1987 late night PBS had the image changed to a shot of a man in a Max Headroom mask and for three minutes in an electronically distorted voice the guy went on a nonsensical rant. So history has proven it can be done.

Wow, wlee, I had never heard of any of those things! How scary for the people that were warned of a war! I guess Beck's broadcast turned out fine. People who hijack the airways are not going about things properly and often generate more resentment for their cause than support.

Well, there are a few conservative talk show hosts that have had to hire security for themselves and their family so maybe he's not being paranoid. I think it had to do with someone that talked the choir into not doing the show and who also convinced 80 sponsors to withdraw their business from Mr. Beck's show.

You should watch Glenn Beck, give him a try. He has a lot of interesting things to say. I'm conservative but I don't listen just to conservatives--I listen to everyone so that I can have all the facts and know what's true and what's not and make up my own mind. I can make informed decisions because I listen to both the left, the right and the middle.

Because many of his detractors take things to a very persona level spalli. the same tactics used on Palin and other's that don't fall in to the narrow definitions of a side. Beck has recieved death threats, I'd be more than a little "paranoid", I'd be carrying an insurance policy from browning or smith&wesson at all times. It isn't paranoid if they really are out to get you.
Though it didn't do well in cities (the devout liberal havens) it did very well in rural areas (devout conservative havens). This speaks volumes of how deep the political divide has become in this country. This is a completely non political story/show, yet based on politics, people either saw it, or mocked it...all over a stupid irelevent divide that is completely deviod of legitmacy in the true political spectrum.

I guess this Christmas season brings out the worst in some people and Mr. Beck was concerned about the protests he'd been warned about. Since the story is about faith and redemption, the protesters were there not only to object to his presence but secondarily to protest the message of the play. I've read several news stories about it and the people think that Glenn Beck hates the president, etc. but they're only listening to their "liberal" speakers and not listening to what he's really saying. We all have a tendency to do that, no matter how open minded we try to be.

It turned out well, though, and nobody was hurt which is very good!

A lot of people who protest against Mr. Beck will protest anything to do with the real meaning of Christmas. They hate him, too, because he thinks faith should be part of life and people should have moral standards.

There seems to be a movement afoot to impede our freedom of speech. It started years ago and this administration, and especially ill-informed voters, is escalating it. You can bet those people wouldn't be protesting if someone was holding a public orgy in the theater but since there is something moral and uplifting going on they can't stand it. I'm glad it turned out alright. I had thought maybe the transmission was going to be interrupted.

Actually, you are very correct that the morals and standards that are associated with the film and even with Christmas are very much what they came to protest. Especially the concept of redemption. In order to feel a need for redemption, you have to be able to recognize your own transgressions and failings. If your political ideology claims moral superiority by rejecting the idea that anything is ever wrong and every base and vile thing is good as long as it is what you want to do, then you wouldn't be able to see any need for redemption.

The truth is, liberals believe they are the moral authority. Anyone opposed to anything they support is immoral. They call evil, good - and they call good, evil.
Therefore, the concept of redemption is only one that might pr1ck their consciences or might challenge their moral authority. Worst of all, it might cause self-examination. Yes, I can see why they protest. Otherwise, they might have to see themselves as they really are.
